“David is a kind, communicative and responsible man. He was gentle and loving with my animals while I was away. He was trustworthy house-sitting for me, followed my house rules and kept it clean.”

“Fiona was fantastic! I had been worried about leaving our little girl without one of us, but she instilled such confidence that I was able to have a great trip without worries. I would recommend her anytime to anyone!”

“McKenna was amazing! This was my first time leaving my pups home for the weekend and having someone come house sit. McKenna helped put my mind at ease when we did the meet and greet. One of my pups left an unexpected surprise (my pup threw a tantrum and destroyed a furniture) for McKenna and she was so nice and cleaned it up for me. I came home to happy pups and I would recommend her. I’d have her back!”

“It was awesome meeting Leanna, and I felt totally at ease leaving my pup in her care over Labor Day weekend. If I could give 6 stars, I would. Super professional, super responsive—any time I reached out, she got back to me within minutes, which really gave me peace of mind. This was my first time using Rover, and thanks to Leanna, it was a great experience. I’d happily recommend her to friends and family. 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Our second time booking Alyssa and it was just as great as the first. She’s so patient with our little rescue Chiweenie and will absolutely be our go-to sitter going forward. I’d give her 100 stars if I could. ❤️”

“McKenzie, was fabulous! We came home to very happy pups, and the house was spotless. We received many pictures and updates which helped us enjoy our vacation. We have already booked her again!!”

“Molly did a wonderful job staying with our kiddos. She spent a lot of time with them which is exactly what we wanted. She kept us up to date with their appetites, energy levels and schedules. She was comfortable with them from day 1 and was sure to give them lots of love and snuggles. Thank you, Molly!”

About: Hi everyone! I am a recent law school graduate who is currently studying for the bar exam. You're not supposed to "work" during bar prep, but life is expensive, and I needed to find a way to make money for food and rent while I study. The nice part about studying is that I am available 24/7, around the clock. As long as I have wifi, I can study anywhere, and I can take a break every 1.5-2 hours to walk dogs, check in on pets, play fetch, etc. As for my history, I grew up with dogs and cats. We had german shepherds when I was a kid, and a few indoor cats as well. I have volunteered for multiple different animal rescues in Oregon- ranging from farm sanctuaries to foster based rescue programs, where I fostered 11 different dogs and puppies over the course of 6 months and got them all adopted into good homes! I have watched all types of animals for friends and family- including older pets, pets who need medication, pets with epilepsy, etc. Please reach out to me! I would love to meet your pets and help out in any way I can! I am currently not working while I study for the Oregon bar exam. This means I am free 24/7 and super flexible! I can house sit, drop-in, do daily walks, or anything else you may need. I respect my clients' homes, keep pets on a regular schedule, and ensure they receive companionship, exercise, and attentive care while their owners are away. I use secure leashing practices, monitor surroundings carefully during walks, and provide exercise, enrichment, feeding, medication administration (if needed), and detailed visit updates and photos!
“Rachel is amazing! Her calm nature and constant communication was our saving grace and hers, since our youngest dog had separation anxiety at first. I appreciate everything she did to help the dogs relax a trust her abilities.”

“Excellent care for our babies. On time, reliable , sent pictures and updates .I would highly recommend her and use her in future for sure. We got home to house clean, happy pets thankyou”

“Chris was an excellent pup sitter for our black lab. We were nervous to leave our boy and it was our first time having a stranger in our home to care for him. Chris was kind and patient with Cayde and gave us frequent updates on how things were going. Chris put us at ease and left the home as he found it. We'd definitely have him return for future in-home pet sitting!!”

“Cristy watched my baby for 10 days, she always sent me pictures daily and gave me updates. This was my first time leaving her which she made it really reassuring she was fine throughout my whole trip. Thank you so very much for loving my fur baby I so appreciate it. ❤️”

“Absolutely amazing she took such great fantastic care of Macy !!! Definitely a 5 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ plus sitter Recommend her highly !!! NOW however...my experience using "Rover" itself was extremely disappointing and dissatisfying!!!! Trying to communicate with your company was beyond difficult!!! Besides your cancelling my reservation.. without my authorization..every time I tried to contact you all I got was the run around from very unprofessional people. Who refused to answer any of my questions or concerns. Were rude and uninformed as to how to help me. I will NEVER use your company again!!! And certainly will not recommend anyone else use you !!!”

“Ryessa was wonderful with our dog, Minion, and our cat, Creature. She was communicative, responsive, and kept us updated throughout the stay with messages and photos, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. She was easy to work with, took excellent care of our pets and home, and made the entire experience stress-free. We really appreciated her reliability and clear communication. We would happily book with her again and would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive pet sitter!”

About: I started taking care of animals when I was really young I think around 6 years old I would take care of my neighbor's dog was a little Pomeranian when they would go places. Also my neighbor had a Irish setter that I would go visit all the time and she would give me a dollar to walk her around the block or talking at least 48 years ago and I still remember it to this day it was one of the best times in my life when I was young. I think I've decided that I want to dedicate my life to this I mean what's left of it anyway lol I've been working with people most of my life and I thought I'd give this a try so daily routine and weekly routine would be up to the customer and it would be your preference after all you're the boss right? I've been a caregiver since 1998 of people I had five background checks last year for the state of Oregon I work for Oregon health Care commission and I'm a caregiver I passed five of them so you would not have to worry about me being in your home I would offer the services that you were requesting and you would also go beyond even more than what you would expect I think I would be a good fit with for anybody I'm an older lady and I've got a lot of grandchildren so I figured taking care of your for a babies and I would treat them like my grandbabies or you would say fur babies. Customer would be my boss so therefore I would do what they would ask.
“Alyssa stayed the weekend with my labs at my house and I am so grateful for her help and respect of my home/schedule with the labs. She sent some pics to update me on the pups and was a great communicator. Came home to a house as clean as I left it and very happy labs. Would definitely recommend!”

“Sandor's experience dog-sitting Raphael was nothing short of amazing. Throughout their time together, they forged a bond that was built on trust, love, and endless fun. Through the pictures Sandor sent, I could see that Raphael was filled with joy and happiness, creating lasting memories that will undoubtedly be cherished by both of them. Thank-you, Sandor!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Monmouth
Fiona was amazing. She is extremely professional and responsible. This was our first time leaving our dog alone with someone else in our home. He was less than stellar but Fiona kept us in the loop and understood that he had gone through a lot of recent changes and was confused why his parents were gone. She did everything she could to make him comfortable. As someone who is very particular about how watches my pets and who stays in my home, Fiona was perfect. I highly recommend her to anyone and honestly with how great she is, she should raise her prices.

Aiden and Hunter took exceptional care of our fur babies- even winning over our shy cat and socially awkward pup! When we returned home, all three pets were happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. This was a last minute booking and they immediately put us at ease with excellent communication and regular updates throughout their stay. They truly went above and beyond, even washing the linens on the guest bed before they left. They genuinely care about the animals they look after- we will absolutely be reaching out to them again in the future!
Elizabeth is our go to, for last minute and planned trips. She always goes above and beyond with Fiona. Fiona loves her and looks forward to her visits. She sends pics daily and is very responsive. She was easily able to add a day when our flight was delayed overnight and was quick to add a week of walks our week with her house sitting. We are so thankful for her and can’t say enough good things about her.

Our dog instantly connected with Elizabeth and even showed his playful side we rarely see as he is older and much less active. She asked good questions, kept us updated and took amazing personalized care of our dog and our home. We would hire her again without any reservation.

Ashley, a wonderful, friendly young lady who is easy to like instantly, my 2 corgies loved her, and appear to be missing her this moment! I was away for 10 days. She stayed at my home, sent photos and updates regularly and found ways to exercise them, even on rainy days. Ashley came over to my home prior to me leaving so she could meet me and the dogs, which I very much appreciated, the dogs instantly loved her. I will certainly use Ashley’s services again

It was awesome meeting Leanna, and I felt totally at ease leaving my pup in her care over Labor Day weekend. If I could give 6 stars, I would. Super professional, super responsive—any time I reached out, she got back to me within minutes, which really gave me peace of mind. This was my first time using Rover, and thanks to Leanna, it was a great experience. I’d happily recommend her to friends and family. 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 641 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Monmouth. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Monmouth walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Monmouth maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Monmouth choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Monmouth. On Rover:
- 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 89% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
