Ian was an absolute life saver! After another person backed out less than 48 hours before my husband and I were scheduled to leave town for several days, Ian answered my last minute request, and saved the day! He came to meet us and our dog the same evening as the request, and immediately established a rapport with our dog. While we were gone, he kept us updated on how things were going, and was very responsive to requests. I would love to have Ian stay with our dog again, and would highly recommend him to anyone!

Samantha is a WONDERFUL sitter! It’s not easy for me to leave my pets overnight, but I will have a much easier time after our first overnight with Samantha. She gave very thorough updates with lots of pictures. It was obvious that all three pets warmed up to her quickly and felt very comfortable and safe. I am so thankful to have found her!

About: Hello! I’m the neighbor that dogs love to visit... when they’re given the chance to escape their usual boundaries. My friends’ dogs can’t wait to jump out of the car when they arrive at my house, and they often resist the offer to “go for a ride” when it’s time to head home. I’m a true animal lover and have had pets my entire life. I’ve cared for neighbors’ and friends’ pets for many years, and I come highly recommended by those who know me as trustworthy and dependable. I’m a self-employed hairstylist and also own a mobile wood sign painting class business. I have the coolest little ten-year-old daughter who is with me more than 70% of the time, so maintaining flexibility is important. Welcoming and caring for pets fits naturally into our daily life. I am selective about pets coming into my home, it needs to be a good fit for both my small, senior Yorkshire Terrier and my daughter. I do require a meet-and-greet prior to providing services to ensure everyone is comfortable. My standard prices are listed, but they’re not necessarily firm. For example, if you live close to me, we can likely work out an even better rate. For reference, I live on the north side of Janesville. Feel free to message me, and we can go over the details together. I have based my career around being a single mother and having my little girl a large portion of the time. Caring for your pet works nicely around my work and my daughter. This is something she and I really enjoy doing together. It is very important that I'm aware of whether your pet is good with children, since at some point in our visit there is a good chance she will be with me. She loves animals and they typically adore her as well. Each pet has different needs and each pet owner has different expectations, so we can discuss this further once we have a chance to talk in person.

About: Have been a long-time dog mom of a pitbull for many years. I have lots of experience with high energy and strong dogs who love walkies. Experience with elderly and ill pets as well. I am currently working only part-time during the summer so I am available morning and night, with 1 day notice and meet-and-greet. (I request a meet and greet with every client) I will respect your home during check-ins, make sure your pet is fed and watered and well exercised as per requests. Can provide extra photos if requested!

Zackary was so awesome! We was super communicative and seemed to spend a lot of time at home with our two kitties boys. He asked questions when needed, checked in often and sent cute pictures! Our kitties were definitely happy when we got home and he was respectful of our space. Thank you so much Zack, the boys will be happy to see you in the future 😊

About: I have been dog sitting/house sitting for 16 years. I love all animals and have owned dogs and cats my whole life. I’ve taken care of up to 3 dogs and 2 cats at once so I’m comfortable with many animals. I enjoy dog walking, great way to burn off their energy or taking them to the dog park if ok with owners. I don’t mind grooming or bathing dogs. I live in an apartment so I can take care of up to 2-3 dogs per day/night. I am very flexible to the type of training per owner, just let me know your preference. I have two cats myself so the dogs would have to be ok with them otherwise there is a separate room I can put them in for the day, nights would not work unfortunately. I’m in school currently for veterinarian and would love a small side job for extra cash. I currently work 1p-8:30p so I would be able to walk/drop in early and mid mornings and late evenings. I don’t work weekends so if you need a getaway I can watch over your babies so you can relax! I have a large yard, not fenced in but have a 200ft zip line leash. I have two extra bedrooms if your pet needs some alone time. My husband and I have one dog who is 7 months and loves to play. I am very comfortable with specific needs for your pets. My goal is to make them comfortable in my home or yours.

About: I’ve had dogs all my life. I have a 7 year old golden named bode. I am familiar with medication distribution and other restrictions. Bode was diagnosed with lymphoma at 5 and has been in remission for 2 years. I grew up with labs as well as shitzus and my dad has a 9 year old golden. I would prefer to meet any candidate prior to boarding as they will be in the same space as my golden, he’s a gentle giant and gets along with all animals. He is a service animal so I have experience in training and younger dogs as well. I work from home full time and have a lot of free time to give during the week. Weekends are busy for me at the moment but will slow down come winter. I work from home so week days are great I have a lot of flexibility for walks and play time and potty breaks. Very attentive and will have my golden to play with. Big grass area to play at but no fence, live in a townhome with lots of toys. Since I work from home I’m very attentive and responsive.

About: I’ve had my own dogs but I’ve also spent about 7 years as a foster mom to needy dogs and have had the pleasure of watching 14 dogs pass through my home on their way to a forever family . I’ve had dogs in heat , sick with heartworm and kennel cough . I currently have a 11 year old foster failure pit bull that is completely comfortable with me being gone for long stretches of time and all hours as well , he has access to the yard with doggy doors . I’m recently retired and am looking for new ways to occupy my time other than clocking in !! My dog is 11 and we typically are super low key and I have no commitment on a daily basis . At the present time I would be doing only in your home care , my dog is old and used to being an only dog , too late to change . I can easily do anytime or even overnights , he’s used to me being gone

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ GRACE IS ACTUALLY BUILT DIFFERENT 😭🐶✨ If you’re looking for someone to trust with your pets, STOP THE SCROLL 🛑💀. Grace has watched our absolute angel pibble Winnie 🦛💕 (the sweetest, most aggressively friendly pit bull you’ll ever meet) and Beef, our tiny gray tabby chaos goblin 🐈🩶, multiple times now, and every visit has been an absolute W. The updates? Elite. 📸✨ The care? S-Tier. 🏆 The peace of mind? MAXXED OUT. 🧠☁️ Grace somehow matches Winnie’s “please pet every human on Earth” energy while also keeping up with Beef’s NPC-breaking, loot-goblin, zoomie-fueled menace behavior. 😭💀⚡ It’s giving pet whisperer. It’s giving main character. It’s giving “locked in” fr fr. We always come home to happy, relaxed pets, and it’s obvious they’re treated like family instead of just another booking. That’s honestly priceless. No cap, Grace is GOATED with the leash. 🐐🦴 Infinity aura. Certified W. If you’re even thinking about booking them… just do it. Your pets will be living their best arc while you’re away. 💯🐶🐈🩶✨

Allison did an incredible job watching our 2 year old bully mix Hank, along with our leopard gecko and bearded dragons. She followed our instructions perfectly and ensured Hank received his walk and enrichment everyday. We really enjoyed how communicative Allison was and how often she sent photos. We could tell Hank really enjoyed her company which made us feel at ease since this was the longest we were away from him. Not to mention, she tidied our home, brought in our mail and washed our sheets for when we got back. Our house was pristine and our animals were tired and happy. Would recommend Allison to anyone who needs a house sitter. You can tell she truly loves animals and treats them with compassion.

FAQs for House Sitting - Milton

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Milton on Rover is $34.41 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 474 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Milton. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Milton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Milton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Milton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Milton. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
