“Allison was great! She sent pictures and updated me throughout the stay. I’ll use again in the future. She was also very respectful of the house and it was in great shape when I got home.”

“Abigail did a great job of caring for our furry four! They loved her and were very comfortable right away. We really enjoyed having her and hope to have her sit for us again! 😊”

“Hayley did a great job with our girls. I can always tell when they are well cared for because when we come home they barely notice we are gone. And they let us know if they are not! :) Hayley kept me well informed and sent pictures. Definitely recommend!”

“Zackary was so awesome! We was super communicative and seemed to spend a lot of time at home with our two kitties boys. He asked questions when needed, checked in often and sent cute pictures! Our kitties were definitely happy when we got home and he was respectful of our space. Thank you so much Zack, the boys will be happy to see you in the future 😊”

About: Growing up, my family always had dogs, and today animals continue to be an important part of my life. I'm a board member of a local humane society and volunteer weekly at the shelter. I also help with low-cost spay/neuter clinics, where I've worked with dogs of many ages, sizes, personalities, and comfort levels. I know every dog is different. Some want long walks and lots of playtime. Others prefer a slower pace and plenty of affection. I take the time to learn your dog's routine, personality, and needs so they can feel comfortable and secure while you're away. Friends and colleagues describe me as dependable and patient. I pay close attention to details, communicate clearly, and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals. Whether your dog needs exercise, companionship or simply a familiar routine, I'll care for them as if they were my own. My goal is simple: for your dog to feel safe, happy, and loved, and for you to have complete peace of mind while you're away. Pet care fits naturally into my weekly routine. I work as an entrepreneur and consultant, which gives me flexibility to schedule visits, walks, feedings, and check-ins throughout the day. Because I manage my own schedule, I'm often able to accommodate pets who need consistent care, medication reminders, multiple daily visits, or extra attention while their families are away. I intentionally limit my commitments so I can provide dependable, personalized care rather than rushing between appointments. When I accept a booking, I make your pet's wellbeing a priority. I'm happy to provide overnight house sitting in your home. Many pets are most comfortable staying in their familiar surroundings, keeping their normal routines, and receiving one-on-one attention in a place they know and trust. When caring for your pets, I'll follow your instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, litter box cleaning, playtime, and any other routines that are important to your household. I'll also send regular updates and photos so you can stay connected and know how your pets are doing while you're away. I understand that hiring a house sitter means trusting someone with both your pets and your home. I take that responsibility seriously. I'll treat your home with care and respect, keep things tidy, and leave everything as I found it so you can return home to happy pets and peace of mind.
“She is so great very laid back and easygoing. Our dogs love her especially our little guy. No worries when she is here. She is always available and dependable we always come home to a happy house and everything is just how we left it.”
About: I have parented and fostered dogs for more than 20 years. I believe that every animal has their own special personality and needs and I do my best to recognize and honor that. I currently have 3 gentle playful smaller dogs that love visitors. My dogs live everywhere i do, on the couch and bed. I can manage feeding schedules and any medication as needed (including injections). I have been through it all! I work part-time from home (I’m a writer). I am almost always home unless running errands or taking the dogs to a dog park.Dogs are life and life is good. I have a fenced and secured backyard with a covered deck. Dogs have access to the yard all day unless it’s raining. We have 3 gentle friendly dogs: Maisie, 14 (17 lb dachshund poodle, very chill/frequent napper), Ollie, 9 (45 pound terrier mix and a total chicken), and Cricket, 6 (20 pounds, cocker-spaniel/poodle who thinks she is the leader but has no idea how to do it).

“I can’t say enough good things about working with Phillip! He was kind, professional, and easy to trust with our two hyper and reactive doggos. Above all, it was such a relief to know that our fur babies were being cared for by someone who loved dogs as much as we do!!! We simply relaxed and enjoy our vacation! Thank you, Phillip!”

“Trinity was absolutely fantastic! Great communication and my pup adored her. I did not worry at all while we were away (and I usually do!). Will definitely be using her in the future and highly recommend her to others. Thanks so much, Trinity!”

“Talia was an awesome sitter for my best cat buddies Casper and Nox! She kept in touch about their care and I felt she was very dependable. I will try to hire her again in the future!”
“**Sulley Says 5 paws up for Laura! This was our first time using Rover.com and we were nervous about leaving our dog, Sulley, who has separation anxiety. We usually board him, but he gets so stressed, we decided to try something new. **We hit the jackpot with Laura! From the Meet and Greet to Waving Goodbye: Laura is incredibly reliable and listens attentively to everything you tell her about your pet's needs and preferences. She met with us at our house before the trip, and at our request, even came for a second visit so Sulley could get used to her without us there. **Peace of Mind While We Were Away: While we were gone, Laura sent us pictures and videos of Sulley, keeping us updated and feeling good about our furry friend. We even have pet cameras, which we offered to turn off, but Laura insisted on leaving on for our peace of mind. **A Happy Return: We came home to a very content Sulley! Laura clearly went above and beyond, even washing all the used linens and towels, and leaving the house spotless. **More Than Just a Pet Sitter: Laura is a 10 out of 10! She's not just a pet sitter, she's a lifesaver for pet parents with anxious pups like Sulley. We highly recommend her to anyone needing a trustworthy, caring, and detail-oriented pet sitter. Thank you, Laura!”

About: I had a German Shepard growing up and he was mainly my responsibility, taking him outside, feeding, walking, playtime. I currently have a senior cat that I've had since she was a kitten. I also have a male cat he's 5years old. I currently go to school part-time on Monday & Wednesday's, I have a part-time job as well that is very flexible and would give me all the time I'd like to help others with there pets. I love plants, making sure all my plants are pet friendly and everyone I safe. My living room is a good size to roll around and play. I have a patio if they wish to hang out side in the sun.
“Amanda was a godsend when our house sitter cancelled last minute. We met her first then her with her dog, Sedona, and I knew right away this would work out really well. You see my dog, Millie, doesn’t warm up to people easily and doesn’t always play nice with other dogs but Millie instantly liked both of them. Amanda stayed at our house along with Sedona, so Millie was spoiled having her two new friends stay with her. They went on many walks and Amanda sent me lots of pictures while we were gone. I will definitely use Amanda again!”

About: I’ve had my own dogs but I’ve also spent about 7 years as a foster mom to needy dogs and have had the pleasure of watching 14 dogs pass through my home on their way to a forever family . I’ve had dogs in heat , sick with heartworm and kennel cough . I currently have a 11 year old foster failure pit bull that is completely comfortable with me being gone for long stretches of time and all hours as well , he has access to the yard with doggy doors . I’m recently retired and am looking for new ways to occupy my time other than clocking in !! My dog is 11 and we typically are super low key and I have no commitment on a daily basis . At the present time I would be doing only in your home care , my dog is old and used to being an only dog , too late to change . Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Newville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Newville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Newville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
