Sabrina did a great job with our pups! We’re a multi-dog household, so it can be a bit chaotic here, but she took everything in stride and met all our expectations 👍

Vincent was excellent! It was our first time booking Vincent, and he even dropped by before our trip to meet Buster and learn about our routines. We had Vincent stop by several times throughout the day and the communication was amazing. He sent us pictures of our dog, Buster, out in the yard, on a walk or two, etc. Our dog was well taken care of and loved while we were away!

About: Hi! I’m Shell, a compassionate and dependable animal lover with hands-on experience caring for pets and working in a veterinary hospital. As a Veterinary Assistant, I’m comfortable handling animals, paying attention to their behavior and needs, and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. I know that leaving your pets with someone else can be stressful, so I treat every animal like an individual—not just another booking. Whether your pup needs a fun walk, some playtime, a little extra attention, or simply a calm companion while you’re away, I’m here to make sure they feel happy and loved. 🐶💗 I’m attentive to details, reliable, patient, and always willing to follow your pet’s specific routine and instructions. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and little check-ins so you don’t have to wonder how your furry friend is doing! Your pet’s comfort, safety, and happiness come first. I work as a Veterinary Assistant, so animals are already a big part of my daily life! I’m excited to bring that experience into caring for your pets. I’m experienced with handling animals safely and recognizing when they’re stressed or uncomfortable. I’ll follow your pet’s routine carefully and provide a calm, safe, loving environment.

Nicole was great! Our dog Indy has separation anxiety so we asked Nicole to come by and keep him company while we were out. She was totally tuned in to his needs, and we came back to a super calm, happy pup. Can’t wait to work with her again!

Hannah was AMAZING! She treated my dogs as if they were her own, even my small chihuahua mix who is scared of everyone and pretends to be a pit Bull. By the end of the second 30 minute visit they were on the same side of the doggy gate spending time together. She took tons of pictures which made us so happy to look at while we were gone. She even included pictures of the dogs food to show they ate and how much! (Our dogs only eat a little when we are gone, so refreshing to see they felt comfortable enough to eat with her). I recommend her a million percent she was extremely professional, easy to deal with, and again loved our dogs as if they were her own!

About: I truly love animals and treat every pet like part of the family. I’ve volunteered at an animal shelter and have cared for dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, reptiles, bunnies, and pets that require medication. Since I work remotely, I’m able to give your pet lots of attention, companionship, and care throughout the day. I’ll send you as many pics as you’d like :) Since I work remotely, pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. Walks are already a regular part of my schedule, and I’m available throughout the day for feeding, playtime, cuddles, and plenty of attention. I follow each pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding, walks, playtime, medication, and any special instructions. Whether they’re in my home or theirs, I make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for, with plenty of attention and updates for their owner!

About: About Me 🐾 Hi!! I’m a 30-year-old elementary school teacher who absolutely loves animals 💛 I grew up on a farm, so caring for animals has always been a huge part of my life—it’s something that just comes naturally to me! I’ve had the opportunity to dog sit for a few wonderful families (including one with both dogs and a cat!), and I truly love getting to know each pet’s unique personality. Whether your pet is playful, loves to cuddle, or prefers a calm and cozy environment, I’m happy to match their energy and make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved. As a teacher, I’m patient, responsible, and very trustworthy. Families trust me every day with their children, and I bring that same level of care and dependability when looking after pets. I understand how important routines are and how much trust it takes to leave your pet with someone—and I don’t take that lightly. I will treat your pet like they’re my own and make sure they feel happy, safe, and so well cared for while you’re away. My Experience 🐶🐱 - Grew up on a farm (lots of hands-on animal care!) - Dog sitting experience with multiple families - Experience caring for both dogs and cats in the same home - Comfortable with feeding, walks, playtime, and routines A Little Extra 🐾 I love sending updates, pictures, and little check-ins so you always feel connected and reassured 😊 Availability 🐾 I’m available for pet care before and after school during the week, which works great for morning visits, walks, or evening check-ins. As a teacher, I have a consistent daily schedule, so you can count on me to be dependable and on time. I’m also open to weekend care when my schedule allows—feel free to reach out and I’ll always do my best to accommodate! Safety, Trust & Environment 🐾 I provide care in your home so your pet can stay comfortable in their own familiar environment. I follow your pet’s routine closely, including feeding, walks, playtime, and any specific instructions you provide. As a teacher, I’m very responsible, trustworthy, and detail-oriented, so you can feel confident your pet and home are in good hands. I always make sure pets feel safe, calm, and well cared for while you’re away. I’m also happy to send updates and pictures so you can feel at ease knowing your pet is happy and doing well 😊

I really appreciated that she was open to a meet and greet before my trip, and she was very understanding and accommodating when I needed to extend my trip and requested her services for an extra day. She is an attentive, trustworthy sitter and I’m so grateful for the care she provided for Jiji!

About: I've had dogs my entire life, but really started taking a lot of responsibility for their care around 12. From small breeds to large, I've loved them all! I have experience with behavioral issues, medication administration, seizures, and other medical issues. I'm a stay at home mom of two beautiful disabled children. We have one cat and one dog. I'm always home and available during the day for boarding. We have nice, big yards and we live in a very friendly neighborhood! I'd also love to help take care of your babes on the weekends, evenings, and occasionally during the week! I have an unfenced but spacious yard. Our home has the capacity to keep everyone separated if needed, but lots of room to be together, too! We have plenty of room for a crate, if that's how your sweet babe thrives, but we also support snuggles during sleep, too!

A pet sitter can provide focused care sessions, help your pet’s routine stay on track, or keep you updated on your pet’s mood and energy levels.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Maine stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Maine. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
