About: Neighbors and family have relied on me to care for their pets, including elderly and special needs animals, as well as exotic reptiles and birds, many times. I’m a part-time student in eco-toxicology at this time studying online so I’m around full time for pet care, feel free to reach out for care any day of the week! I am fully vaccinated! My home is full of people and pets so I don’t typically do boarding unless I know you and your pet well. I am happy to water plants if needed as well! Please keep in mind that my partner joins me for house sitting bookings. We have two cats together and he is also certified by Rover :)

We asked Andrea to watch our 4 dogs (including 2 puppies) while we went to Ireland for a week - not an easy task for anyone! When there were hiccups, she informed us right away and we returned to our pets being healthy and safe. She also fed our parrot as well as our outdoor cats. Even my plants were well taken care of!

My boys are a hand full and she did amazing with them. We are definitely using Ava S again. Teddy & Louie looked well taken care of from walks and treats and love. Thanks again Ava

We had a great experience with Tori! She is reliable, caring, and kept us updated with photos and messages throughout the stay. Our dogs were happy, well cared for, and clearly felt comfortable with her. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing our pups were in such good hands. We would definitely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive pet sitter!!!

About: Hi! I’m a dog lover with hands-on experience as a dog bather, sitter, and walker. I’ve worked with all kinds of dogs, from high-energy puppies to sweet senior dogs—so I’m comfortable adjusting to whatever your dog needs. What sets me apart is how much I genuinely care. I treat every dog like my own, whether that means getting their energy out on a fun walk or giving them a calm, gentle experience. I’m patient, attentive, and experienced with different personalities, and I always make sure your dog feels safe, happy, and loved. I am openly available to be of service to you and your pets any day of the week any time! Weekdays, weekends, holidays, overnights and more. I care for pets in their own home by keeping their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I follow all instructions closely, including feeding schedules, litter box or potty breaks, walks, playtime, and any medications if needed. I make sure pets get plenty of attention, comfort, and supervision while respecting their space and personality—whether they’re playful and social or more shy and independent. I also keep the home clean, secure, and provide regular updates so you know your pet is safe and happy while you’re away.

About: Hi! I’m an experienced and safety-focused pet sitter based in Brooklyn, with years of hands-on care for dogs of all ages, sizes, temperaments, and needs. I’ve worked long-term with local families, volunteered with NYC Sean Casey Animal Rescue, and currently work part-time with a Westchester-based pet care company. I’m confident handling everything from high-energy pups to more sensitive or reactive dogs, and I always prioritize calm, structured, and attentive care. What You Can Expect From Me: * Reliable, communicative care and insight (updates + photos) * Safety-first handling, especially in busy NYC environments * Experience with different temperaments and behavioral needs * Respect for your dog’s routine, boundaries, and training Boarding & Home Setup My apartment in Brooklyn and family home in Westchster is pet-friendly and set up with safety in mind: * No toxic plants within reach * Pets allowed on furniture unless you prefer otherwise * Supervised outdoor time with long-lead setups * Quiet, controlled environment away from heavy street traffic While I don’t have a fenced yard, I make up for it with structured walks, enrichment, and safe outdoor exposure. My apartment has a large gated patio, and my family home has two large grassy areas between a patio with a long lead for supervised outdoors time. I currently work freelance in roles that allow me to be home and present throughout the day. I also work part-time with a pet care company based in Westchester on a flexible schedule which has strengthened my hands-on experience with a wide range of dogs and routines. I’m based in Brooklyn and have access to both my apartment and my family home in Westchster for boarding, depending on what best suits your pet’s needs. My schedule allows me to provide consistent care, regular walks, and attention throughout the day rather than long periods of absence. I’m also open to traveling across the Tri-state area for house sitting and extended stays. I’ve been a trusted pet care companion for years, working with local families for both long-term and short stays (up to three weeks), as well as drop-in visits. For boarding, my home is fully pet-friendly, with no restrictions on furniture (unless you prefer otherwise) and no toxic plants within reach. While I don’t have a fenced yard, I provide safe, supervised outdoor time using a long lead in nearby grassy areas, along with access to a private patio. We’re also set back from the main road, which creates a calmer environment. For house sitting, I aim to keep your pet’s routine as consistent as possible while respecting your home. I’m clean, responsible, and low-impact, and I treat every space with care. I follow feeding schedules, walk routines, and any specific instructions closely so your pet feels comfortable and secure in their familiar environment. Safety is always my top priority. I’m attentive, cautious, and respectful when interacting with all animals and other dogs we may encounter. I always follow each owner’s guidance when it comes to socialization, ensuring your pet stays within their comfort zone.

This was our first time having someone stay at our house with our babies while we were away and Lisette made it so easy. We have two anxious, high-energy dogs and a cat, and Lisette shared consistent photos and updates, making sure we knew exactly how they all were each day. Lisette loved our pets like they were her own for the week, and it was clear they absolutely loved her back. She also treated our home with great respect, keeping everything clean and tidy. Knowing our pets and home were in such good hands gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. We highly recommend Lisette and would gladly have her watch our pets again! We truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

About: I am a Mom of two adult girls and have had dogs and cats as pets my entire life. My home is a loving, caring, safe and nurturing environment. Your pet will be cared for and loved as one of our family. I am home all day and your fur baby will under my constant watch and supervision. The day will include exercise and fun playing. I take safety very seriously and being a Beagle mom I’m fully aware of possible dangers and escape artists. I will never have more than 3 guests at my home at one time and even that is a rarity. I always conduct a meet and greet first, usually at Heckscher Park where I am sure everyone is friendly with each other and well behaved. My ultimate goal is to provide a happy, safe, enjoyable and loving stay for your baby so that your time away can be relaxing and fun as well. My guests will become part of the family when they stay with me - whether it’s out to the park or beach or watching TV or just relaxing. I am with my guests all day and have a double door and gate system and camera for security. Pups have their own couch and play area in my kitchen with large sunny windows to look out.

About: I’ve had my furry pet for 12 years before she crossed the rainbow bridge last year. I have cared about pets to a more deeper and emotional extent since I had her. I would love to spread all the joy and tenderness to another pet whenever I get the chance to. I am flexible the most during weekends and two days during the week. Pet care fits into my schedule best and I will be down to accept any gigs that will allow me to be flexible. I am very attentive when it comes to my pets needs and I do my best to keep them entertained. I make their day to day look slightly different to enhance entertainment and excitement.

Julia was wonderful with Benny! She was clear, very communicative and went above and beyond to make sure he felt safe and comfortable with her — he’s a very shy dog but warmed up to her almost instantly. Would absolutely recommend to anyone for any service and would have her watch Benny again in a heartbeat.

FAQs for House Sitting - Lloyd Harbor

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 16,206 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Lloyd Harbor. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lloyd Harbor walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lloyd Harbor maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lloyd Harbor choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lloyd Harbor. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
