“Shanette stayed at our house for one week with our Maltese. Took excellent care of our dog and sent updates, pictures, and videos. We felt so at ease and comfortable with our dog in her care. Worth the money for peace of mind.”

“We had River care for our senior Labrador while we were away for the weekend. She was great to work with -- conscientious in her preparations, very communicative throughout the stay giving us updates multiple times each day . She was able to accomodate all of our dog's idiosyncracies. At the end of the weekend everyone was happy! Will definitely work with River again.”

“I couldn’t have imagined a better sitter than Jess. She went above and beyond to care for our puppy and 2 cats. I received frequent updates and photos and reassurance that everything was going well. Our puppy wasn’t feeling well while we were away and Jess took such good care of her that I didn’t even have to worry. I recommend Jess for anyone that is looking for a caring, reliable and responsible sitter who will love your pet like her own.”

“I strongly recommend Maia, who was terrific with my dogs when I needed to travel out of town. She took wonderful care of my elderly Great Pyrenees, who has special needs, as well as his less needy sibling. She was great at communicating and let me know about a developing ear infection that she noticed, so we were able to treat that promptly. Plus, she went above and beyond in keeping the house clean. I will certainly contact her again the next time I need to travel.”

“If I could give McKenna 10 stars I would! McKenna house sat our 4 year old pup Finley for 6 days/ nights while we took a family trip. Not one day went by without pictures and lovely communication about Fin! Our boy was so well taken care of and loved, we felt incredibly comfortable and secure simply knowing she was there with him. Ty again McKenna!!”

“Shivarah was wonderful, from setting up a meet and greet prior to the booking to taking care of my two cats! It was so nice knowing that my boys were going to be well taken care of while I was gone. She was kind, attentive, a great communicator and sent pics every day. I highly recommend her!”

“Sofia was the BEST! Our pups loved spending time with her while we were away! We recieved daily updates and photos which brought us peace of mind! She took care of our home as well...she treated it as if it was her own! We feel very lucky to have gotten to know her, and we will for sure want her to sit for our dogs again!”

“Kortni was amazing! She mentioned not being as comfortable with cats compared to dogs, but she took such great care of our very skittish cats. One of them became her close buddy and kept close tabs on the other one who was very elusive. She shared many pictures and provided daily updates of the cats. We saw them today and they look healthy and happy.”

“Laura watched our dog at our home while we were away for a few days. She did an excellent job with our dog and treated our home with respect. We will definitely reach out in the future when we can't bring our pup on trips! Highly recommend Laura”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Linden
Emily was so wonderful with Oliver and Sherman. She was friendly, trustworthy and a great communicator. We got lots of updates and photos, and the boys seemed to love her. Our house was well cared for and clean! Couldn’t wish for a better experience. Will definitely ask her to care for our dogs/home again!

Sofia was the BEST! Our pups loved spending time with her while we were away! We recieved daily updates and photos which brought us peace of mind! She took care of our home as well...she treated it as if it was her own! We feel very lucky to have gotten to know her, and we will for sure want her to sit for our dogs again!

Christina is so fabulous- she did a wonderful job watching our dog and home for a long trip- she provided updates, took great care of him and left the home cleaner than she found it! Christina is so sweet and we highly recommend her for dog sitting/walking/house sitting! We will be booking her in the future for sure!!

Sara was fantastic! We’ve never left our boy with someone other than family before so we were very anxious, but Sara quickly put our concerns to rest. She was extremely communicative and sent us a bunch of pics every day. I’m so glad we found her and will happily use her again in the future!!

Sandra was absolutely amazing with our 3 dogs and our home while we were away. Our pups all have unique personalities - she handled them all with ease and they all seemed very comfortable with her the moment she walked through the door. She updated us thoroughly during her stay and sent many pictures which was extremely appreciated. We will absolutely use her again!

Desire went above and beyond! She regularly updated about the pets, kept the house tidy, and when we returned from our trip the house was cleaner than when we left! We will absolutely be having Desire house sit more! Two large dogs and a cat can be a lot but she crushed it!
Nathalia is amazing and incredibly reliable! She was so patient with our dog Mona—who can definitely be a bit of a Prima Donna—and cared for her as if she were her own. Natalia kept us updated with regular texts and photos, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. Mona was clearly happy, comfortable, and even made a new friend. Nathalia went above and beyond to ensure we felt at ease, and we will absolutely be booking with her again. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter! Nathalia, welcome to our pack!
I pre booked a house sitting with Omar and his wife because I did not have someone who was definitely going to watch my bulldog. So to be safe I booked Omar. I had a meet and greet with him and his wife and they were so exited to pleas I was very impressed by there enthusiasm. Unfortunately my pooch did not get to Jersey in time for him to watch hence why I only gave 4 stars because I was not able to get the service so was not able to judge whole process .Which was not their fault just timing . Im sure though they would of been great pet sitters from the vibe I got from them In our meeting .So will be booking with them again soon!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Linden walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Linden maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Linden choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
