“Samantha! Thank you for being so amazing to our pet family! We feel safe and at peace when you are with Harry, Stanely and Deniro. Thank you for accommodating their food mixture, medications and overall temperament. Looking forward to having you help us out again.”

“Thank you so much for your help tonight and letting me have a night out. I will definitely use your services in the future! Thank you again for taking such wonderful care of my puppy! :)”

“Leslie was amazing with my cats while I was away for a week. She was always punctual and sent me daily updates and pictures, which gave me so much peace of mind. It was clear my cats were well cared for, and I came home to happy pets. I highly recommend her and would definitely book with her again!”

About: I have had several pets through my life and all have had different personalities. Adapting to them to make them comfortable is important. I also have helped family take care of their new puppies. I’m very comfortable and understanding when dealing with puppies. Currently I can do any time! I don’t mind having an early morning or late night drop in. I am very flexible and want to make this easy for YOU! Just communicate what you need and it’ll be great. I want the animal to be as comfy as possible. Sometimes their human leaving can be stressful! I want to meet them where it’s needed. Not have their routines thrown off.
“I genuinely cannot say enough good things about Lauren - she does SUCH an amazing job. I have two cats with more complicated meal needs/dietary set-up and she handled everything flawlessly. She maintains incredible communication and provided me with detailed updates with plenty of pictures that alleviated any anxiety I had being away from my babies. It is so obvious how much she cares, and she went the extra mile to make my kitties feel comfortable and ensure they were happy & healthy with each visit. She is exactly the kind of sitter you want taking care of your pets!!”

“Adrienne was amazing, especially for filling in at the last minute for another sitter. She sent updates with pictures, and the pets were happy and well cared for when I arrived home!”

“Absolutely the best Pet Sitter ever. I did not worry one second about my fur babies. She communicated everyday even though they didn’t always cooperate 🤦♀️. Definitely glad we found her and will be calling her anytime we travel. So awesome to be able to leave my babies with someone I know will take such exceptional care of them. Thank you again!”

“Cindy takes such good care of our dog. As he gets older it’s so much harder to leave him but she communicates with us so well and I know he is in such good hands while we are away!”

About: I’ve had the pleasure of raising a dog from 9 weeks old to his current 13 years. I’ve been there every step of the way, from puppyhood to adulthood and senior years. Plus, my dog tore his ACL, so I know firsthand the challenges of keeping your pet safe and out of harm’s way, along with the need for special care and instructions. I am currently a senior student athlete in college with a flexible schedule. I wanted to find a part-time job that I would actually enjoy, and I have always loved being near animals. Coming back home to my dog is always the highlight of my trip, so being near dogs and getting to see the joy on their faces has always made me smile. I think pets are happiest when they’re in their own space, so I’d rather work at someone else’s home. Plus, getting to know the dog and the pet owners will really help everyone feel more comfortable.
“Rachel was great with our dog & cat. She was punctual, reliable, and our fur babies took to her so quickly. She sent me so many pictures of them cuddled up on her so if you believe that a dog is a good judge of character, then Rachel is the best. We will use her in the future & would recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter!”

“Miriam took great care of our cats and we appreciated all the photos and updates. She was very responsive and easy to book with, even though we requested last minute due to our pet sitter cancelling before our 2+ week trip.”

About: Hi! I’m Ingrid, a mom of 4 boys ages 4-13 and a dog owner to a boy Beagle named Otis. I’ve had dogs all my life and love being with them and caring for them! (I even trained Otis from a puppy!) We have a large house in the country on 2.5 acres of land. We LOVE having other dogs stay and visit! Otis and the children are very good with other dogs! Other than taking care of the house and kids, taking care of dogs is my only other job, so your pup will get plenty of needed attention and have lots of fun with us!!! We are on a 2.5 acre property, but no fence, so outside time will be on leash only- (we have long leashes for more freedom to roam). Inside is more flexible with free roam in the main area- very large sunroom, living room, and kitchen. We have a large area for dogs to sleep overnight comfortably either on a dog bed or crate, whichever is preferred.
About: I have cared for pets of my own since I was 7 years old. Dogs mostly, but also cats, birds, turtles, rabbits, and fish. Now I am a mature, reliable professional who loves pets as much as ever, but unfortunately my living situation is not ideal to have my own right now. I look forward to connecting with folks who need an assist in caring for their animals and loving them as if they were my own. My schedule is somewhat flexible with plenty of early morning and afternoon availability, as well as evenings opening up at 9 or 10 pm. This is true 7 days a week with 2 rotating days off each week. I typically have one 3-day weekend available each month. My place is not conducive to have your pets stay. But I am happy to come to you, whether for a walk, a feeding, playtime, some combination of all of the above. I also welcome the opportunity to stay over in your home if the need arises and trust has been established.
About: I spent twelve years caring for my German Shepherd, Tyson, who taught me the importance of patience, trust, & routine. Alongside him, I have cared for doggies of all breeds & sizes for over fifteen years. Friends & family have relied on me for walking, feeding, companionship, & staying with them for days at a time. I'm especially comfortable with large & strong breeds. I'm calm, attentive, & deeply respectful of each dog's unique personality- my goal is always for your pet to feel safe & loved while you're away! I'm happy to send photo updates so you can feel at ease as well! I will also care for your kitties! Hi! I’m Jade! I recently moved back to my hometown after spending the last five years living in Colorado, and I’m taking this season to slow down a little, spend time with family, and enjoy being back home. I’ve had a bit of a colorful career path! I’ve spent years as a private nanny and household manager, worked in property management, attended school for Interior Design, and now work in management and social media marketing. Through all of it, I’ve always loved work that involves caring for people, creating beautiful spaces, and making life a little easier for others. Outside of work, I’m a creative and an adventurer at heart. I love acrylic painting, interior design, hiking, cooking homemade recipes, road trips, and traveling to new places. Give me a beautiful trail, a little town I’ve never explored, a paintbrush, or something new to cook and I’m happy. I also had a dog of my own who I had to say goodbye to a few years ago, and I’ve really missed having that companionship in my everyday life. My current work gives me plenty of flexibility throughout the day, with especially open availability on Sundays and Mondays. I’m happy to follow whatever routine makes your pet happiest—whether that’s long walks and adventures, backyard playtime, or lots of couch snuggles. Most importantly, I want you to feel completely comfortable knowing your little family member is with someone who will genuinely love and care for them. I take them to the dog park, long walks, roaming around in fenced in yards, & lots of snuggles. Whatever you are comfortable with and whatever your dog's typical routine is- I will make sure they are fulfilled.
About: When your dog comes to our home, we treat them like our own. Having grown up with dogs my entire life, I know how important it is to find the absolute best care for them while you are away. Having pet sit for family and friends dogs and also fostered several dogs, we have experience with all types of dogs from puppies to senior dogs and various breeds. I have two daughters who love to spend time with dogs that come to our house and always give lots of love and attention. I currently only have weekend availability due to recent return to office - happy to help during the week if your dog is used to an 8 hour day normally. Please reach out to see if it is something we can accommodate and you are comfortable with. Most days I will be able to get them out for a bathroom break around lunchtime. I will care for your dog the same you do to keep things consistent for them. We can leave them out if we have to leave or crate them, whichever you prefer.
About: I am intuitive with animals and tend to bond effortlessly with them. I have experience with dog walking, puppy training, and house-sitting. I truly care about animal welfare and strive to make sure your pets will be safe, happy, and healthy in my care. I work from home and I have extra time and energy to burn between editing and I'd love to spend them caring for your pet! I strive to be informed of pet safety at all times; includes fully supervised outdoor time, keeping aware of surroundings, and medication schedules. I also have experience with crating.
About: Throughout my life I have always had either a cat or dog as pets and have always enjoyed taking care of them. As a dog owner myself, I have a deep appreciation and respect for all breeds which allows me to really bond with them. My patient manner allows them to become comfortable with me very quickly and really provides for a better experience for both myself and the pet being looked after. I have taken care of many different types of breeds and sizes which allows me the knowledge of taking great care of them so you have the peace of mind that your baby is well loved and cared for while away. From puppies to seniors, I am able to handle them all. I am also not shy to dietary restrictions and specific instructions you may have. Hi, I'm Hannah I'm a Frederick local and lifelong animal lover who would be thrilled to care for your pets like they're my own. A little about me: · Proud Frederick local — I know and love this community. · Pet parent to a Boxer-Border Collie mix, so I'm no stranger to energy, smarts, and big personalities · Animal lover through and through — I've never met a pet I didn't adore. Why book with me: · Trustworthy — you can count on me to be reliable and honest · Responsible — I take your pet's routine, safety, and happiness seriously · Friendly — I'll make sure you and your pet both feel comfortable and cared for · Respectful — of your home, your pet's needs, and your instructions My promise: Your animals will be treated like my own — with love, patience, and plenty of attention. Whether it's a walk, a drop-in visit, or an overnight stay, your pets are in good hands. Pet care fits naturally into my everyday routine, so your pets get consistent, reliable attention. I'm up early every morning — no sleeping in around here. My own dog is usually the reason, and I wouldn't have it any other way. That early start means morning walks, feedings, and drop-in visits are easy for me to work into my day. I'm currently in between jobs and heading back to school, which gives me a flexible schedule with plenty of open time during the day. Pet care is a great fit for this season of my life — it works around my classes, and it gives me something I genuinely enjoy doing with my time. I'm married, and together we share our home with our own dog — a Boxer-Border Collie mix. We're also hoping to add another dog to the family soon, so I understand the excitement and the responsibility that comes with a full house of animals. Whether it's an early morning walk, a midday check-in, or an evening visit, I have the time, the flexibility, and the heart for it. Your pets will get the same care, attention, and routine I give my own. I have a fenced in backyard, walking trails, and plenty of space in my home to host your furry friends. Security system is also active and I am home throughout the day.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
