“This was my dog Hank's 2nd stay with Sydney. She took good care of him, including tending to his paws when they were irritated by the salt on the walkways, and her communication was excellent. I would highly recommend this sitter.”

“Our son was getting married in upstate NY so we needed a sitter for our dog Kai while we were away. We have always left Kai with either family or friends, but since everyone we knew was attending the wedding I reached out to Laura. We set up a meet and greet -I knew from the first time I met her that she was a perfect match. She was warm and kind - obviously a dog lover - and she made a connection with our normally shy dog right away. She asked a lot of questions about Kai's habits - she wanted to make sure she followed his normal daily routine so that he would be comfortable in her home.. Her house is beautiful and she has a large, fenced in back yard that allowed Kai to run free in a safe environment. Laura took him for a 3 mile daily walk, and sent many pictures and updates the whole 6 days she had him. He became a part of her family❤️ I cannot say enough about how happy we were to have found her. She gave us peace of mind that Kai was well loved and cared for so we were able to enjoy the wedding without any worries. I would HIGHLY recommend Laura to anyone looking for a sitter!!”

“Dana is a sweet woman and Enzo was comfortable staying there for his first time. She communicated to let me know how Enzo was doing since I was worried initially. I would gladly leave my buddy there again!”

“Serenity offered to meet our pups prior to their stay with her. She sent regular updates to let me know how they were doing. When we picked them up they seemed at ease. I will definitely reach out to her again when needed.”

“Eva is a kind and loving person. I can tell she loves what she does and adores the pets she takes care of. We feel lucky to have found her and trust her with our fur baby.”

“We highly recommend using Stacey. Bandit stayed with her over the holiday weekend. He had a blast. We were very comfortable with her fenced in back yard. She was very communicative and sent lots of photos. We look forward to using Stacy again.”

About: I currently work from home, so your pup gets plenty of company and attention throughout the day rather than being left alone for hours. Our days can include walks, playtime, backyard time, cuddles, or simply relaxing nearby while I work. I have a 2-year-old Black Lab/Boxer mix who is very friendly and loves having other dogs around. We also have a fully fenced-in yard where the dogs can safely get some fresh air, play, and stretch their legs. I’m comfortable caring for dogs with different personalities, energy levels, and routines, and I’m happy to follow your pup’s normal schedule as closely as possible—including meals, walks, medications, and any special instructions. I also love sending photo updates, because I know how reassuring it is to see that your dog is happy and doing well while you're away. ❤️ Whether your dog is energetic and ready to play or prefers to curl up and relax, I’ll make sure they get plenty of attention, care, and companionship. If your pup is looking for a comfortable home-away-from-home, I’d love to meet you both! Because I work from home, your dog gets plenty of company and attention throughout the day! Our days can include walks, playtime, backyard time, cuddles, and plenty of relaxing while I work. I’ll also send regular photo updates so you can see how your pup is doing while you’re away. 🐶 Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I work from home, so I’m able to provide plenty of supervision and companionship throughout the day rather than leaving pets alone for long periods. About: I’ve always loved animals and have several years of hands-on experience caring for dogs of different ages, sizes, and personalities. As a dog owner myself, I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust to care for your pets like family. I’m comfortable with everything from energetic puppies to older dogs who may need a little extra patience and attention. I’m responsible, attentive, and happy to follow each pet’s individual routine, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications, and any special care instructions. I know that every dog is different, so I take the time to get to know their personality and make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and loved while they’re in my care. My goal is for both you and your pet to feel completely at ease while you’re away. Pet care fits well into my schedule, and I’m able to provide care before and after work as well as on weekends. I have a consistent weekday schedule, so I’m able to plan visits and walks around my work hours and make sure I can give each pet the time and attention they need. I’m also available for longer visits and extended care when my schedule allows. I’m reliable and communicative, and I’ll always make sure we agree on a schedule that works well for both you and your pet. When caring for pets in my clients’ homes, I make it a priority to keep their normal routine as consistent as possible. I follow all feeding, walking, medication, and care instructions closely and make sure pets receive plenty of attention, playtime, and affection. I’m respectful of clients’ homes and always leave everything clean and as I found it. I understand that being away from their owner can be stressful for some pets, so I’m patient and attentive to their individual needs and personalities. I’m also happy to provide updates and photos so you can feel reassured that your pet is safe, comfortable, and having a great time while you’re away.
“Nicole took excellent care of our German Shepherd for three nights while we went away. she has a fantastic fenced in yard with very friendly dogs to play with our pup. we will definitely use nicole again!”

“Jill and her husband Doug were great hosts for our young, active Border Collie. They went out of their way to meet our needs. I had mentioned that Louie liked to chase a Frisbee, and when we arrived Jill had added one to her big bucket of dog toys. I was happy about the big play yard, but while we were away I received some pictures from Jill of Louie and his pals running at the beach. What a great place to leave my pet!”

“Mary Jo was great 😊 Our little CornedBeef was well taken care of and bonded with her temporary family while we were away. Sue was very communicative and flexible. We are happy to use her again!”

I 💯 recommend Beryl.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Ledyard
Elizabeth is genuinely the best dog sitter we’ve ever had!! She loves my pups like her own and is super accommodating to crazy schedules. My dogs have the best time with her and her family. She has been taking care of my puppy who has a liver shunt and she is really good with the medicine schedule and making sure she doesn’t eat anything she isn’t supposed to. Would recommend Elizabeth to 100000 percent.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CT ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
