“Cienna was perfect! She was so nice, respectful, responsible, and easy to communicate with. We were so happy with all her pictures and updates while we were away, and we returned to a very healthy and happy pup! She took great care of our house and our most precious baby. We would definitely recommend her and will reach out to her anytime we need someone to watch over Prada!”

“Janet was such a gift to us and our pup. She was extremely tentative to her needs. She paid close attention and took thoughtful, mindful care of our girl. We could not recommend her any more highly. We will certainly be reaching out to Janet in the future!”

“Jaylene lovingly cares for our dog Posie. She always leaves our home clean and neat. She follows all my requests so I know Posie is well cared for. I recommend Jaylene to care for your pet.”

“Kellie is great. We have two big Akitas that need supervision to prevent them from destroying the house when we are gone. The dogs warmed up to her immediately. She arrived right on time and there were no issues. Would definitely hire her again!”

“Danae was awesome. A vet tech, she is very knowledgeable with pet care. She was immediately responsive and stayed on top of communications. She sent photos and notes that kept me in touch. I know that she was up early to walk the Husky during the cool early morning hours, which is the best for this Northern dog. She was willing to play light tag with the cat, which is her favorite activity besides sitting on your lap. I came back to a house in great shape. I highly recommend.”

About: Can care for any type of cat personality, from love-y and playful to the skittish and scaredy. I also have experience administering medication for cats. Open to small dog care too! Graduating college going into working a freelance job, event-based so I have periods of free time and flexibility. Feel free to ask about my availability! I would care for your cat as if it was my own. I would clean the litter boxes and throw-up if your kitty is sick. I can administer pill and liquid medication for the mouth. Then I will also play with your cat as to make sure it gets its energy out, and even offer supervised outside time desired.
“We are always skeptical leaving our fur baby with a stranger however we were very, very pleased. We received updates daily along with photos and could just tell they were having a good time together. Jasmine knows what she is doing and does it fabulously. We will definitely book with her again.”

“Rachel was phenomenal with my dog. She not only took great care of him but she took great care of the house. Rachel is caring, attentive, reliable and communicative. Everything you could ask for in a pet sitter. We will definitely work with Rachel in the future.”

“Jennifer was awesome. She stayed in our home for a week with our dog, Teddy while we were out of state. She sent pictures and updates daily, and we could tell that Ted was very well cared for. We ran into issues at the airport with our flight being cancelled and then delayed. Jennifer was very flexible and understanding and stayed at our house over 12 hours later than expected. Cannot recommend her enough! Thank you Jennifer!”

“Jaime is an excellent house sitter and dog caregiver. Cooper loved him. He was very thoughtful in taking care of the house and even pitched in on a chore or two that was above and beyond. Checked in as requested. Highly recommend.”

“Allison Nicole V is a true gem! She came in and made me feel completely comfortable leaving my furbaby Cujo in her very capable hands. Cujo had just lost his sidekick and best friend, Gunner Butter just two weeks before I was to leave on my vacation. I didn't know how he would be for Allison Nicole V, but she took excellent of Cujo! She went way beyond the call of duty on this pet sitting adventure. She left everything clean and showed professionalism throughout her stay with my little guy. I would recommend her for anyone looking for a pet sitter, dog walker or boarding your babies! I am hoping to go on a trip in May and I hope she will be available to come into my home again and take care of my precious baby. I can't thank her enough for the peace of mind she gave me. I really don't think anyone else would have done the amazing job she did, knowing I chose such a wonderful caregiver while I was gone.”

“Amy is very attentive and loving with our Paco, who admittedly can be a handful. He is a very active and playful dog. Amy sent us updates while we were away, which we very much appreciated. We all look forward to having Amy take care of Paco in the future.”

“Levi was FANTASTIC. I cannot thank him enough. We had to very last second find someone to watch our bigger dog (puppy), and then leave pretty much immediately after. He came really quickly to meet us and Sasha (our dog), and even came an extra day. He sent us tons of pictures and videos and updates, and was so so sweet. My kids basically harassed him while he met our dog but he was super sweet to them too! We also rushed out of the house so fast we didn’t get to do all the cleaning (dishes etc.) you normally do before a trip, but we came home to the dishes done, stove cleaned off, trash taken out- honestly it was so sweet and we cannot thank him enough! 100% will contact again anytime we need our doggo watched.”

About: Even though I'm fairly new to dog care, I approach every dog with patience, attentiveness, and a strong willingness to learn and very detail oriented. I structure my daily routine around cat pet care, so it's never an afterthought. I start my mornings with feeding, refreshing water, which fits naturally into my day. Midday, I schedule check-ins for playtime or litter box cleaning. In the evenings, I dedicate time for feeding and quality interaction. I care for pets in my clients' homes by maintaining their normal routine as closely as possible to reduce stress. This includes feeding on schedule, providing fresh water, playtime, and cleaning up after them. I also make sure they get plenty of attention, affection, and mental stimulation. I respect the clients home by keeping everything clean and secure, and I provide regular updates so owners feel comfortable knowing their pets are safe and well cared for.
About: Hi there! I’m Kris, a passionate animal lover with 30 years of experience caring for dogs and cats of all breeds, sizes, and personalities. Whether your pet loves long walks, belly rubs, or cozy naps on the couch, I make sure they feel safe, loved, and happy while you’re away. While I am new to the Rover app. I am not new to giving you peace of mind that your pet (of any size breed, fur or scales) will be taken care of. I work in the medical field so am comfortable with any special needs or medications should the need arise. I am also a certified (not officially) belly and head scratcher of all animals and am more than capable of playing fetch at great lengths. I will make sure to communicate with you on how your pet is doing, and am happy to provide pictures if requested. I currently work full time two days a week in the medical field. This allows for ample time off to walk, play, or drop in to check on your four legged friends. My schedule is flexible and I don’t mind holidays as long as I am in town. I currently live in an apartment so dog sitting in my home is extremely limited at this time. I am more than happy to schedule a meet and great to get to know you and your loved ones needs and style. I am also happy to take your dog out on walks, have playtime, and any needed cuddle time to help you feel better when you’re away.

“Savannah did a wonderful job caring for our 17-year-old dog while we were away. She was prompt, courteous, and communicative throughout the entire experience. Our dog seemed very comfortable with her. What really stood out was Savannah's understanding of senior dogs. Because she has experience with an elderly dog of her own, she understands the extra attention, patience, and care that older pets often need. That gave us peace of mind knowing our senior dog was in such capable and compassionate hands. We would happily recommend Savannah to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Las Cruces
Leaving our pups at home and overnight is a bit concerning for dog parents - but not so when Jennifer is doting on them. She is punctual, detail-oriented when it comes to any special attention our girls need, loving to them; simply put: Wonderful!, and we appreciate Jennifer very much.

We were very pleased with Lacey. She took very good care of our dogs, house and hummingbirds. The dog really did like her. Lacey kept us informed how things were going here at home while we were away and sent us pictures of Zeno and Annie during their activities. We would highly recommend Lacey. Bonnie and Jimmy Waller
Ren was absolutely wonderful, and I couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter. They stayed with my pets (a dog and a cat) for four nights and five days and from the moment I left, I felt completely at ease. They kept me updated every single day with thoughtful messages and lots of photos, which gave me so much reassurance and allowed me to truly relax and enjoy my time away. My dog was well cared for with regular walks and frequent potty breaks, and it was obvious both of my pets received so much attention, affection and playtime. One of the sweetest surprises was that Ren even crocheted little homemade toys for my cat! It was such a thoughtful gesture and showed just how much they genuinely care about animals. When I returned home, my house was absolutely immaculate. Ren took wonderful care of everything, and it was clear they treated my home and my pets with the utmost respect. I can’t recommend Ren highly enough. They are kind, reliable, communicative, and truly went above and beyond. I’ll absolutely be booking them again the next time I travel. Thank you, Ren, for giving me such incredible peace of mind—I knew my pets were in the very best hands.

Levi did a great job of caring for our 2 dogs and 4 cats. We were away for 5 1/2 weeks — a long time for someone new to our household to manage. He paid attention to their many unique quirks, attending to issues that periodically came up. He sent photos regularly, and messages on their status. One of our cats has always had digestive problems and Levi worked hard with him to help improve his condition. We have a large yard so he didn't have to take them for walks, but he did have to clean up their messes. He won over our newest rescue who followed him around everywhere, and went outside with them even through that wasn't necessary. Our house was in good shape when we returned and we hope to have him sit for us on our next vacation.

Bethany is amazing! She sent photos and updates and even the pups that don't do well with strangers took to her; and to be honest, I trust the dogs instincts over my own! :) Despite getting ER sick while here, she made sure everything was done before taking herself to the hospital! To me, putting yourself aside to care for someone else's pups is just above and beyond! We will definitely be booking again!

We love Alex!!! There’s so may wonderful things we could say about her including the fact that she’s great with our fur kids (even the shy ones), goes above and beyond (like taking out the trash and recycling), and is always a joy to work with! We can’t thank Alex enough!

Jasmine is amazing! I have 3 cats and 2 dogs and she was great with them and made me feel at ease leaving them which i have never done before and am already booking her for the next out of town trip. I have a very picky dog and he loved her which says alot to me. I got updates as requested and she is very responsive.
We couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Gina took wonderful care of our house and two dogs, Sandy and Dusty, over the weekend. It gave us real peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands. Sandy and Dusty were happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for when we got back. Communication was great, and it was obvious our dogs received lots of attention and love. We would absolutely trust them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 160 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Las Cruces. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Las Cruces walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Las Cruces maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Las Cruces choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
