Cienna was perfect! She was so nice, respectful, responsible, and easy to communicate with. We were so happy with all her pictures and updates while we were away, and we returned to a very healthy and happy pup! She took great care of our house and our most precious baby. We would definitely recommend her and will reach out to her anytime we need someone to watch over Prada!

Allison came to us in our moment of NEED. I had never used rover before but we got stuck while out of town and had no one to watch our fur babies. So thankful to have found Allison and when we got home, all three of them were SO happy!! Allison was so attentive to all of their needs and made sure to ask any and all questions as they arose. She sent us pics and videos everyday, which really put our minds at ease. Allison is now our go-to dog sitter and house sitter when we leave home. Don’t even go to anyone else’s profile. Allison is as far as you need to go!!

About: Hi, my name's Betsy. I love animals of all kinds, and have shared in their love and care all of my life.. I ensure they get the best care and have also volunteered at an animal shelter where I assisted in taking care of dogs and cats. A long term cat owner, I currently am owned by a lovely senior boy cat. My goal is to ensure that all of the pets in my care get everything they need to be their best selves. I am cool, calm, and collected in emergency situations. You can count on me to get your pet(s) any care that they may need. I can also handle most medications and love to hang out with seniors. Daytime visits work best for me (I’m flexible on time) and can do some evening care if necessary. I appreciate your consideration I have a part time job so this is a great opportunity to give pets the care they need. I really love meeting new pets and making friends with them. I know pets needs and can make sure all are met I love to ensure that pets get everything they need to be their best selves, from basic care to assisting with training. I've been a pet owner all my life, and can do anything from long walks to play to administering medicine of all kinds.

Posie loved Jaylene! Jaylene did a great job caring for Posie this last week. She stayed in our home while we were gone. Everything was clean and neat when we got home and Posie was great! Jaylene sent us updates and photos throughout the week and that really helped relieve my anxiety! We plan to ask Jaylene to stay with Posie for our next vacation!

Danae was awesome. A vet tech, she is very knowledgeable with pet care. She was immediately responsive and stayed on top of communications. She sent photos and notes that kept me in touch. I know that she was up early to walk the Husky during the cool early morning hours, which is the best for this Northern dog. She was willing to play light tag with the cat, which is her favorite activity besides sitting on your lap. I came back to a house in great shape. I highly recommend.

About: Please only book me if you can provide proof of current vaccinations for your pet. I've had multiple of my own pets, including some with special needs. I can give medicine, supervise mealtimes, bathe, brush, trim nails, and anything else needed to give your fur babies the 5 star experience they deserve. I've been a freelance sitter for my friends before, but I'm looking to expand my work schedule beyond holidays and weddings. This is basically a full time job for me, and that focus is reflected in the service I give. You and your pets can rest assured that I will provide full attention to their needs for the booked service period, no shortcuts, no excuses. I require all pets in my care to be up to date on their vaccinations. Please send me proof of current rabies, distemper, parvovirus, and canine influenza shots upon booking. Any concerns I notice with long term health such as allergies, gait issues, or fleas will be communicated during the visit and a solution can be deployed in real time. Dogs will be monitored for signs of fatigue during hot weather, and I will make sure they don't burn their paws on walks.

Jasmine was AMAZING!!! This was our first time leaving all our pets, 2 dogs and 2 cats, with a pet/house sitter, and our first time using Rover.....so initially I was a little nervous. I was a little sad because I was going to be away from my babies for so long, I was gone on 2 different trips for a total of 13 days. However, once I met Jasmine, I felt completely comfortable! I knew they were going to be in great hands!! My sister stayed home with them for the first 8 days while I was in Hawaii, but then she joined me in San Diego, and that's when Jasmine took over. Although I have a rambunctious 8-month husky/shepherd puppy mix....who sometimes gets into things she shouldn't, Jasmine was great with her! After my Goldie's first bad behavior day, Jasmine worked with her and had no further issues with her getting into things she shouldn't. Even though Goldie was still a little pill and would sometimes still jump up on her in excitement, Jasmine worked to correct her behavior. Now I need to continue with more training. Jasmine sent us lots of pictures, and my Izzie (my perfect girl) and my Goldie (not so perfect girl), looked very happy every time! She also took great care of my 2 cats...they are easy, just needed to be fed and given water, but she let me know how they were doing, as well. I would highly recommend Jasmine and will definitely be working with her again in the future! I know my fur children and my home are well taken care of by Jasmine!

About: I've been caring for animals for over six years and have experience with a wide variety of pets. In addition to being a dedicated pet owner, I have hands-on experience as a veterinary technician, where I learned how to recognize signs of illness, safely handle animals, administer medications, and provide attentive, compassionate care. I've also provided pet sitting services for dogs, cats, and exotic pets, tailoring my care to each animal's unique personality and needs. Whether it's keeping energetic dogs active, making shy cats feel comfortable, or caring for reptiles, birds, or other exotic species, I prioritize safety, routine, and enrichment. I understand how important it is for pets to feel secure while their owners are away, and I treat every animal as if they were my own. My goal is to provide reliable, loving care so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is in experienced and capable hands. Between being a full-time student and working part-time, I still have plenty of flexibility to care for your pets! My schedule allows me to be available throughout the week for drop-in visits, walks, and pet sitting, and I do my best to accommodate last-minute requests whenever I can! I'm a big believer that pets thrive on consistency, so I'll work with you to keep their routine as normal as possible while you're away. Whether your pet needs an early morning visit, dinner time cuddles, or anything in between, I'm happy to help! Your pet's happiness and safety will always be my top priority. I treat every home with the same respect and care that I would expect someone to show my own, and I take the time to learn each pet's routine so they can feel as comfortable and stress-free as possible while you're away. Whether it's sticking to feeding schedules, cleaning litter boxes, going on walks, or giving medications, I'll follow your instructions carefully and make sure your pet gets the attention, love, and care they deserve. I know every pet is different, so I'm happy to adapt to their personality, whether they want nonstop playtime, quiet companionship, or just someone to keep them company. I'll also keep you updated with plenty of photos and messages, so you never have to wonder how your pet is doing. My previous veterinary technician experience allows me to recognize changes in behavior or health and stay calm if something unexpected comes up, giving you extra peace of mind. Above all, I want you to enjoy your time away knowing your pet is safe, happy, and being cared for like they're one of my own

About: I’ve been caring for animals since I was 11 years old and have experience with pets of all ages, from newborn puppies to senior dogs. I’ve assisted with whelping litters, ensuring each puppy gained weight appropriately, met all nutritional requirements, and received attentive care during their earliest stages of life. I also helped with early potty training, socialization, and sensory enrichment to support healthy development. In addition, I have experience caring for elderly pets by providing gentle, patient care, administering medications when needed, monitoring their comfort, and adapting to their changing needs. I treat every animal as if they were my own and pride myself on providing reliable, compassionate, and attentive care. I am a stay at home dog and cat mom so I’m available any time and any day to look after your fur babies when needed. I am more comfortable with taking care of your fur babies from your home just because I do have a senior Great Dane who is not the friendliest toward other doggies.

About: I’ve taken care of pets my entire life (dogs, cats, horses, cows etc.). Neighbors, friends, and family have relied on me to check in, feed, walk, and spend quality time with their pets. I’m patient, responsible, and attentive, and I make sure each pet feels safe, comfortable, and cared for. I grew up with blue heelers, so I’m very comfortable with high-energy dogs and understand the importance of exercise and engagement. I also have a senior dog (2012) and two French bulldogs, so I’m used to being attentive to different needs, energy levels, and routines. I have experience with both active and more relaxed or older pets, and I always try to match their pace and personality. I’ll treat your pet like my own and make sure you feel confident and at ease while you’re away. (I do not have experience with exotic pets like birds, fish, reptiles, or small mammals like guinea pigs but am willing to learn) Pet care fits easily into my daily routine. I have a consistent schedule and am able to plan my day around visits, walks, and check-ins. I already care for my own dogs daily, so feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and attention are a regular part of my routine. I’m reliable with timing and understand how important consistency is for pets. I’m a teacher about to begin summer break and will have an flexible schedule with early morning, afternoon and evening availability. I always prioritize safety, consistency, and making pets feel comfortable in their environment. In a client’s home, I stick closely to their pet’s normal routine—feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any specific instructions—so things feel familiar and low-stress. I pay close attention to behavior, energy levels, and any changes to make sure pets are doing well. I’m very mindful about safety during walks and visits, including secure leashing, monitoring surroundings, and keeping a clean, calm environment. I also respect your home and make sure everything is left exactly how I found it. With my own dogs, I’m used to managing different needs and personalities, including a senior dog and two French bulldogs, so I understand how important supervision, patience, and attentiveness are. My goal is always to make both you and your pet feel safe, comfortable, and confident while you’re away.

Bethany is amazing! She sent photos and updates and even the pups that don't do well with strangers took to her; and to be honest, I trust the dogs instincts over my own! :) Despite getting ER sick while here, she made sure everything was done before taking herself to the hospital! To me, putting yourself aside to care for someone else's pups is just above and beyond! We will definitely be booking again!

FAQs for House Sitting - San Ysidro

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in San Ysidro on Rover is $38.85 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 137 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across San Ysidro. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred San Ysidro walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in San Ysidro maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in San Ysidro choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
