“savannah was excellent, always kept me updated and really paid close attention to my dog who i love so much. i felt so great on my time away knowing she was there to help us and care for him.”

“Madi is a god sent! Truly cares for our aging pup! Such a relief after years of trying to find a different sitter every weekend for the entirety of travel softball season! The consistency of someone that cares and our dog loves is a game changer!”

“Carly was fantastic. She was easy to communicate with and sent updates throughout her stay, including a sweet photo of our pup. We'll definitely reach out to her again!”

“Naomi was a fantastic sitter! She stayed at our house for several days and did a great job keeping our very active Vizsla entertained, sending us updates and photos too. When we got home, our pup was happy and tired, and everything in the house was neat and in order. We’d absolutely recommend her!”

“Tressa is truly amazing. We had an AWFUL experience with another (non-rover) sitter and I had true PTSD with leaving them with someone else. Tressa ensured her communication was precise, she sent multiple photos and videos daily, took my dogs on hikes and walks, and left the house spotless. There is a reason she is booked out for months!!! I cannot recommend her high enough!!!”

“Emily was absolutely perfect with my boys. When i returned home the house was clean and dogs were very happy! She sent me pictures of the boys every day and i loved that. I would highly recommend Emily 👍🏻”

“Nicolas communicated extremely well on pet sitting our two pups while we visited the community he lives in. I would highly recommend him to care for your treasured fur babies.”

“Landry has watched our fur babies multiple times and each time Landry is so thorough and takes such good care of not only our animals, but our home too! I highly recommend Landry if you are looking for a house sitter. Your fur babies will be in great hands 🙏🏼 thanks Landry!!”

“Bonnie stepped in for a last minute booking and got the job done. Myka was fed and cared for while I was away, and everything at home was as I left it. Communication was fine. Nothing went wrong, and I appreciated her flexibility on short notice.”

“Ashley has great communication! She sent multiple pictures, let me know when she arrived and when she left. My dog was the most relaxed and content he has been with any sitter. We will definitely be using Ashley again.”

“Britney was amazing with our dogs. We needed a dog sitter with relatively short notice and she made a point to visit prior to the stay to meet our dogs and take notes about their care. She gave updates and photos of the dogs each day and left our house in great shape. I highly recommend Britney as a responsible and attentive dog sitter. Thank you!!”
“Taylor was amazing with our kitten, Goose! You can tell that he truly loves animals. He was very attentive and caring with our cat. He was also very communicative with us while we were gone and sent us pictures throughout each day. We would definitely hire Taylor again to care for our kitten.”
“This is the third time Emma has stayed with Goose and again we came home to a clean house and tired dog. Emma is great! We’re looking forward to having her dog sit multiple more times this year.”

“Kaeli was a huge help to us last weekend. Our rescue Australian Shepherd is a high energy, high need puppy who has aggressive tendencies towards strangers. Kaeli knew exactly how to navigate the situation, how to work with her and how to create a trust breakthrough. On top of that, she took great care of our home and left it in better shape than what she found it in. She went above and beyond. If you are looking for someone who really knows animas as opposed to someone who just watches them, Kaeli is your person”

About: Ive been around animals my entire life including big or small (dogs, cats, fish, horses, etc) I've taken care of dogs all shapes and sizes including my dorm parents massive (and energetic) Great Pyrenees puppy. I am able to accommodate any kind of dog, Puppy, Rescue, senior, special needs. I can also clean homes if you need the help. I can currently take care of your pets during the weekends all day, and weekdays outside the hours 9-5. I understand potty breaks are a must so i can offer one 15 min long walk during my work day. To keep a safe envirment and to keep everything stress free i am willing to travel to your home and take care of your fur babies.
“Vanessa took care of our cat Bowie for a second stay and she was wonderful again! This time we asked her to give Bowie subcutaneous fluids every other day, and we were relieved that Bowie was getting them while we were away. Vanessa also kept Bowie’s face clean of discharge, let her out on supervised walks in our backyard, and provided her with her normal daily routine. We especially appreciated all the videos and photos we got, and proactive check in when a medication was low so that we could reorder it. Bowie seemed quite content.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Kerns
Savannah has been an excellent dog walker for our energetic duo, a yellow lab and a beagle. Savannah is always on time and communicates consistently. Our dogs seem happy and relaxed when they return from their outings. We appreciate Savannah's level of professionalism and the vet tech background she brings to the table. We will continue to have Savannah walk our dogs and look forward to having her stay in our home with the pets for overnights and extended stays.
Julia was phenomenal! Not only is she an awesomely cool person, she was very patient when meeting and understanding our dog who can be shy and occasionally reactive. She has such a calming energy that our dog immediately let down her guard and bonded with Julia (which is unusual in the first moments of meeting someone new) and I knew right away that our pup and home were in great hands while we were away for a week. I can't recommend Julia enough - amazing and consistent updates with cute pics of our dog everyday, and honestly our home looked better and cleaner when we came back then when we left somehow! Thank you again Julia!!

Will was great! Our animals really liked him and he was responsive, trustworthy, and reliable. He stayed with our cat and dog for 9 days while we were out of the country. Answered my messages promptly and sent pics. We came home to the house exactly as we left it. Would definitely hire him again!

Tammy was an AMAZING pet sitter! She took really great care of our dogs while we were away, and they got along with her perfectly! She was REALLY great at communication, and sent tons and tons of pictures and videos to keep our minds at ease while we were away from our 2 little angel dogs. I can't begin to describe how lucky we were to find a pet sitter like her. We will ALWAYS choose to book her in the future! She gets an A+++ rating! Thanks Tammy! You are the best pet sitter!

Allison was an absolute lifesaver! She agreed to house sit our dogs with only a day’s notice and even made time to come meet them beforehand—bringing her adorable and easygoing dog, Gin. From the start, she was incredibly communicative, letting us know her schedule, when she arrived and left, and how walks and feedings went. She sent us updates and photos, which gave us such peace of mind. (: Allison is friendly, fun, and personable, and she truly went above and beyond. When she found out we were new to the area, she shared tons of great local recommendations. We came home to happy, well-cared-for pups, and we couldn’t be more grateful! Thank you so much, Allison! Have so much fun on your thru-hike of the Superior Hiking Trail—we know you’re going to have an amazing adventure! :D

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kerns walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kerns maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kerns choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Kerns. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
