“Kailyn was great! She kept me updated throughout her stay & sent tons of pics! The furry girls (a rambunctious 2 year old and a cranky 16 year old) were well taken care of. We will definitely be having her come back!”
“Christina went above and beyond my expectations to take care of our fur babies. They were safe and happy the whole time we were on vacation. I appreciated her great communication and I will definitely book with her again in future if we need a sitter.”

“Jolene is amazing! I booked her to watch my dogs while I was away for a weekend. Not even a week later I had to go out of town on an emergency and needed her to watch my dogs ASAP. She happily accepted and took great care of my boys. She was easy to work with and i will book her again in the future!”
“Finding someone to care for our pets and home was genuinely was biggest concern prior to traveling. Gwen was a wonderful sitter and completely took my worries aways. Her attention to detail and flexibility calmed my demanding pets while we were away. I highly recommend Gwen to anyone looking for someone reliable that will ensure your fur babies are cared for, loved and safe. Thank you Gwen!”

“Hannah did a wonderful job caring for our goofy rescue dog over a long weekend. She was prompt and thorough in her communications and gave our dog lots of attention. She was very respectful of our house and left everything clean and tidy!”

“Ridge was great with communication from the beginning. He took great care of our dog and was very attentive to anything that was needed. I would definitely love to have him stay with our Beau in the future.”

“Brandt was amazing!!! He took such great care of our animals while we were gone for almost 3 weeks and was head and shoulders above basic care. He provided multiple updates, communicated any issues immediately, conducted himself as a consummate professional at all times and was a thoughtful & considerate house guest. He made sure our pets were treated like the family members that they are, treats flowed in abundance and walks were numerous. Thank you so much, this enabled us to keep them in the comfort of our home and that peace of mind was everything!!”

“Grace cared for our 2 dogs and cat while we were away for a long weekend. During our meet and greet, Grace loved on our dogs and we were confident she would do a great job caring for them. We came back to an orderly house and happy animals!”

“Shannon was absolutely amazing with my baby over the past few days. She was super communicative the entire time I was away, and FaceTimed me many times so that I could check in to see what my pup was up to! I don’t think he even realized I was away because he was having so much fun with Shannon the entire time. I will definitely request Shannon the time I have to leave town for any length of time. I cannot thank her enough!”

About: I grew up with pitbulls, blue heelers, and cats. I currently have two fur babies named Theodore and Jax (who are living a 5 star luxury life 🐾). My friends reach out to me if they need help with caring for their doggies. I’m trustworthy and will respect your instructions! I will not do anything or give anything to your pup unless it’s specifically stated beforehand or I ask you first. I do not have children so it’s easy for me to be flexible in caring for your baby! I will provide loving care, and most of all, keep you updated and send plenty of photos to give you the reassurance that your pup is safe and cared for. I LOVE plants, so if there’s any plants you need watered while you’re away, I’d happily do so! I currently do not work. I mostly tend to my fur babies or my garden most days. I am doing college online but it is very flexible. My schedule is pretty flexible! Unfortunately, I cannot take care of animals in my home. We are renting and our lease states we have to have prior approval and charge a fee if another animal will be residing with us. My corgi (Theodore) is a bit of an introvert as well and does not enjoy other animals (other than Jax) in his space. I am able to drive and take care of your pet in your home! I don’t mind taking multiple trips if that will put you at ease about your pet!
“Dorothy did a fantastic job while house sitting my two pups! She followed their schedule and was back and forth many times during the day to check on them and let them out to potty and play. I could tell when I arrived home that they had been well taken care of. I will definitely use Dorothy again for overnight doggy care!”

“Perla watched our 2 dogs Chase and Luke at our home for 8 days. We had never left our dogs for that long, but I never once worried because she was on top of things. She was great with giving me updates, asking any questions and sending me pictures. My one dog Chase had peed once in the house and she cleaned up as needed. She also took good care of my Chase’s condition. I would highly recommend Perla to anyone!”

“My dogs were calm and happy when I came home. They were left exactly as requested. The house was clean and well kept! We also had a dog who needed medication last minute- she hopped up to the challenge no problem! We would happily use Morgan again!”

“My doggies love Devin and we do too. I’ve been needing to travel more frequently due to family emergencies and Devin is our go-to house sitter. She does a great job updating us on what’s going on at home, and it helps ease my concerns about my dogs. She takes great care of them, and I can’t recommend her enough. And I’m a rover sitter too!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Kensington
This is our second time having Sarah stay at our home with Beau. She takes great care of him and I feel good knowing he’s with her. He got great exercise that he needs and was happy and well-cared for when we got home. We Will be using her whenever we go out of town.

This is my second time booking with Emily. She watched my new rescue dog Winnie and re-watched my other dog Luke. Emily is very caring with my dogs and I knew they would be in great hands. She is respectful of my home and actively gives me updates about the stay. I would recommend Emily to anyone who wants their pets to feel like they are with their own family. Thank you Emily!

The average cost for House Sitting in Kensington on Rover is $33.3 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kensington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kensington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kensington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Kensington. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
