“We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! From the moment we met, it was clear how kind, reliable, and genuinely caring they are. Our dog was happy, relaxed, and clearly well-loved while we were away—which says everything. Communication was excellent, with regular updates and photos that gave us total peace of mind. We came home to a very happy pup and a tidy space, and it was obvious our dog had been treated like family. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy, attentive, and compassionate dog sitter. We’ll definitely be booking again!”

“I absolutely adored Penny, she took great care of my animals but also knew I had a stressful day returning to my kiddos that she got the house ready for me and honestly it was amazing. I will forever only hire her for anytime I leave for another holiday.”

“Abigail was wonderful! Super chill and friendly vibe, very professional and knowledgable, and my baby doggie Toad seemed so happy. Received pics while I was out, and everything was just fine when I returned. Couldn’t be happier! Abigail rules! ?♥️?”

“Danielle was super kind and attentive with our pups. Aside from being a reliable sitter, she was extremely flexible and friendly with her service. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone I know.”

“The kiddos enjoyed their time with her. On time, good communication, and followed instructions perfectly. It’s so nice to not have to worry when I am away. Thank you!”

About: I have had dogs of my own since I was 12. In their older years, I had experience giving them their medications and taking gentle care of them on walks and at home. I’ve walked dogs for neighbors and friends and will treat your pets as my own! During the year I teach middle school music, but I’m completely free for the summer! I have plenty of time to look after your pets. I can administer medications, go on walks, give baths, and take great care of your pets. I’ll make sure to spend the time they need with them to keep them happy.

About: I've had dogs and cats my entire life, so I genuinely understand what it means to care for them as part of the family. My professional background further strengthens this passion: I've worked as a kennel technician, a vet assistant, and I'm currently a vet tech. Plus, I have experience pet sitting, so I'm comfortable stepping into that role. This means I'm not just a dog lover, but also skilled in understanding canine behavior, providing proper care, and recognizing any health needs. Your dog's safety and well-being will always be my top priority. Working in the vet industry as a vet tech allows me to spend 4-5 days a week surrounded by adorable dogs and cats. And when I’m at home, I take great care of my own fur babies too. It's clear that my love and passion for animals shines through in everything I do! Your pets' safety and well-being will always be my top priority. When I'm caring for pets in a client's home, the focus is on maintaining their familiar routine and environment as much as possible. I'll come to your home for scheduled visits or overnight stays, making sure your dogs and cats stick to their usual feeding schedule, walks, playtime, and cuddle time. This minimizes stress for them. I also take care of other household tasks like bringing in mail, watering plants, and ensuring the house looks lived-in for security. Again, my vet tech experience means I'm adept at spotting any health concerns, administering medications, and providing a high level of observant, compassionate care. In both scenarios, regular communication with you, including updates and photos, is a priority so you always know your furry family members are happy and well cared for.

“Vonna took care of my Minnie with love and lots of attention! She kept me updated daily on how things were going and sent photos every day of my baby 🥰 I will definitely use her again.”

About: I’ve been around all kinds of animals my whole life, but I have the most experience caring for cats, dogs, and rodents. I also have some experience caring for older pets, including giving oral and topical medications as needed. I can also follow unique dietary needs as required. The safety and comfort of your pets, and your peace of mind, are my top priorities. I recently completed the Disney College Program and am currently looking for work, hopefully with Disney again. In the meantime, I would be more than happy to help you take care of your furbabies. I will diligently follow all instructions provided. Please let me know about your pet’s preferences (favorite toys, treats, etc) as well as any dietary restrictions, allergies, and medications.

“Miranda was a godsend! I couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter for my puppy. From the beginning, she was reliable, communicative, and clearly cared deeply about making sure my puppy felt safe, loved, and comfortable while I was away. I received regular updates and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind. When I came home, my puppy was happy, well cared for, and clearly attached to Miranda — which says everything. Miranda paid attention to routines, gave lots of playtime and affection, and treated Lola like family. It’s such a relief knowing I have someone I can completely trust with my fur baby. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a caring, dependable, and attentive pet sitter!”

Pet care is a natural part of my daily routine. As a veterinary assistant, I’m experienced in providing attentive care, monitoring health, giving medications, and keeping pets happy and comfortable. I provide a safe, comfortable, and loving environment for every pet. In my client’s home, I follow their routines closely, including feeding, medications, playtime, cleaning, and plenty of attention. As a veterinary assistant, I bring professional knowledge and compassionate care to every visit.
“Carly is an amazing dog sitter! She took the absolute best care of our dog, Diesel, and gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was clear how much she genuinely cared about him and made sure he was happy, comfortable, and well taken care of the entire time. Diesel absolutely loved her, and we feel so lucky to have found someone we trust so much with him. She also was great with communication and provided updates regularly, which was so appreciated. We cannot recommend Carly enough and would not hesitate to book her again!”

About: It's more about the dog than anything else so I do my utmost to make sure the "kid" is taken care of and how you expect me to do as well. I do work a full time job at the moment but I can take care of a handful pets, especially on the weekends or evenings during the week. For when I'm taking care of the pets at a client's home I make sure to follow the instructions I am given and make sure to make the doggo feel comfortable.

About: What sets me apart is my lifelong experience caring for animals and the genuine love and patience I bring to every pet. I’ve been around both dogs and cats my entire life and have experience caring for them for family and friends. I currently have a puppy that I’ve raised since she was just 8 weeks old, so I understand the time, consistency, and attention young dogs need. From potty training routines and reinforcing basic commands to providing plenty of exercise, playtime, and affection, I’m comfortable caring for puppies as well as adult pets. I treat every pet as if they were my own, making sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for while you’re away. Pet care fits very well into my daily schedule. I have a flexible routine that allows me to dedicate time to feeding, walks, playtime, potty breaks, and giving pets the attention they need. Since I already care for my own puppy every day, I’m used to planning my schedule around a pet’s needs and making sure they receive consistent care. I’m dependable, organized, and committed to following each pet’s routine so they stay happy and comfortable while their owner is away. I care for every pet as if they were my own. I make sure they have fresh food and water, get plenty of exercise and playtime, and receive lots of love and attention. I follow each owner’s instructions closely, including feeding schedules, medications, potty breaks, and any special routines their pet is used to. I also keep a close eye on their behavior to make sure they’re happy, comfortable, and healthy. My goal is to help pets feel safe, relaxed, and cared for while their owners are away.
“I couldn’t be more pleased with the care that was given to my Mini Aussie, who is a little weird around other people. Danielle went above and beyond to bond with him and after less than I a day she accomplished that. She always kept me apprised on how he was doing and sent pictures. I highly recommend her if you need a pet sitter. She will be back next week.”

“Shannon was amazing with my dogs! She followed all my instructions and sends many updates which I appreciate! My dogs much prefer staying at home vs a kennel and will definitely be using Shannon in the future! Be assured your pets are in great hands with her!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Kathleen
I have nothing but good things to say about Erika. I booked with her at the last minute (after my original sitter canceled) and I am so grateful I did! Erika was very communicative, responsive, and took great care of my girl while I was away across the country. She kept me updated throughout the stay with pictures - capturing some of my now favorite photos of her. Erika's schedule was flexible enough to extend the stay another night after my flight was canceled. When I returned, I could tell my girl was happy, healthy, and well taken care of, as well as my home. I look forward to booking with her in the future. Thank you, Erika!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kathleen walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kathleen maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kathleen choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
