“Christian is amazing with our 4 babies. We have an aggressive Great Dane and we needed someone to work with him and be patient with him. My dog loves Christian and I never feel bad or worried when I have to leave him or any of my babies.”

About: I've grown up with dogs since I was 5 and cats since about a year ago. I'm far more familiar with dogs and their needs and enjoy walking with them and caring for them. I currently have two medium sized dogs who love snuggles, walks, and playing. I work part time at the Lakeland Veterinary and Hospital as a Kennel Technician. My schedule varies on a monthly basis as schedules are typically given out for the upcoming month. The first week of the month is the most difficult for me to schedule as typically the work schedule hasn’t been sent out yet. As for my work schedule it varies time frames ranging from 7am-5pm or 4pm-9pm on week days while weekends are typically 7am-1pm or 4pm-9pm. Recently due to being short staffed I’ve volunteered to do doubles which is 7am-8pm with an hour lunch break. I'll be happy to discuss any time frames whether I know my schedule or not. I have two dogs (Brittany Spaniel and a very mixed breed but mostly resembles a treeing walker coonhound) at my house between 30lbs and 50lbs who love snuggles and playing with each other. I go on a lot of walks with my dogs as they're both friendly and energetic. I make sure my puppies are well fed, have clean water, and are given all the love they can possibly receive every day
““I can’t say enough great things about Casandra! She watched my dog, Malachi, for three weeks while I was traveling abroad, and her care exceeded all expectations. Not only did she handle two major hurricanes (Helene & Milton) during that time, but she kept my house clean, ensured Malachi was well-fed, and even took him to her home when my power went out. Despite being without power twice, Casandra remained calm, resourceful, and reliable throughout. She consistently sent me updates and photos of Malachi, and every time I reached out, she responded within minutes. Her communication was top-notch, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and dedicated pet sitter!””

“Erika was amazing watching our fur babies! We booked short notice, about a week before our trip. She was quick to respond and set up a meet and greet to meet our babies. Winston loves her. She sent pictures and updates throughout out the stay and was very kind and had no problem adjusting the stay according to mine and my husbands plans that got pushed back a day. Winston and our kitties were very happy when we got home. I would recommend Erika to watch anyone's pets, she was great and extremely reliable!”

“Pennie was everything my dogs and I needed! From the first contact to the very end she was responsive and great to work with. She was able to handle my overly excited dogs when she arrived, her calm demeanor helped them settle quickly. Pennie kept their normal schedule and my dogs were completely content that I was away, this made my very happy and settled my nerves about leaving them. Pennie will be my go to for now on.”

“Cathy was a great house sitter who looked after our two cats while we were traveling. She communicated really well, drove down to meet the cats before confirming the booking, and showed up on time before us leaving to get access to the building. She also did a wonderful job communicating during our travel/ her stay with the cats. She took care of the cats’ medications needs, too! What I loved most about her is how prompt she is about responding to any messages. She kept us updated with pictures and lots of other information. She has been kind to the cats and tolerated them sleeping in/ on her suitcase, ha ha. We found the cats happy and healthy. She also took care of our place, it looks great- just as we left it. She also washed the sheets and towels and overall left the place exactly as she found if not better☺️ She is a kind person, and very personable. We loved having her as a house / cat sitter and will contact her again when we need her care. Thanks much, Cathy! And see you soon ☺️”

“Christina was amazing with our senior dogs. One has epilepsy and the other one other health issues, so they are not that simple to take care of. She did a great job taking care of them. They were very happy with her and not stressed out. She kept me informed the entire time, was responsive, sent photos, and was able to give them their meds and vitamins. She stayed over and was respectful of our home. We recommend her and will be hiring her in the future.”

“Elizabeth was fantastic! She sent pics and updates throughout the day while we were out! Our boy, Mav, was wiped out when we got home! He is about 3 1/2 yr old spoiled rotten Sheepadoodle! We would HIGHLY recommend her for your fur baby! She is kind and very patient - Mav took to her immediately!”

About: I’ve been raised with a variety of pets since I was a kid. I’ve been pet sitting since college. I have experienced with younger dogs as well as senior dogs. “Lyndsay was super communicative with me from start to finish. My flight got delayed and offered to stay a few extra hours past what we agreed upon. She sent me pics of my babies throughout the day and the entire weekend. I highly recommend her and trust her with my pups!”

“Karla has been the perfect match for our dogs. She gave us some excellent advice on dealing with behavior issues with one of of our dogs and it's made such a difference.”

About: I am a 47 year old male, whose Air Force duties were crew chief for F-22 fighter jets, serving overseas during the Iraq war. I have top secret security clearance and many missions under my belt. My passion now is animals. I am currently an SPCA foster parent to both dogs and cats. No job is too big or too small when caring for your pet. Whether they have medical needs or just need a happy face to lick, I can take care of it all. I am available day or night with total peace of mind everything will be cared for. I live in South Lakeland. I am retired and available for boarding, client home boarding and care, pet walks and visits. I'm available any day and time. I will answer all requests as soon as I see them. I live alone in a small and safe community, with little traffic, which makes it safe for walks. I have a unfenced yard but I take great care allowing the dog to have freedom in the yard while being on a leash. I have access to a fenced in dog "play" area in my community. My home is non-smoking, cozy, and quiet. I keep the home air cool to provide comfort for the animals. I maintain constant contact with your loved one to know they are safe and happy. I will provide daily texts and photos of the pet, to the owner, to show they are safe and happy.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Lakeland Highlands
Zoë was amazing with my two Huskies! They love to escape so I was a bit worried. One of them escaped and she got him back home. I was on a cruise with no WiFi and I was able to get updates from her when we ported. She was sitting in house and our place was neat and well taken care of. More importantly, my pooches loved Zoë so book her!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lakeland Highlands walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lakeland Highlands maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lakeland Highlands choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
