“Darla was wonderful when house / pet sitting and caring for our two dogs and cats. She spent much time with them, which they adored. She also treated our house with respect. I will definitely book her again for future time away.”

“Mark is fantastic. He stayed at my house with our 2 dogs for a long weekend. The dogs were so happy and well cared for, my house was clean and in perfect condition. He even shoveled when it snowed! We will 100% have Mark over again.”

“Kelly was an exceptional sitter for our senior dog Jynx. He was a very happy camper when we got home so we knew he was well taken care of during his time with Kelly. She took care of our home like it was her own and I would highly recommend Kelly to sit for any dog owner who is going to be away. We would definitely have her watch Jynx again in the future..”

“Ashlee was wonderful with my senior pup who needed a LOT of extra care. She ensured that I, the worried mom, got tons of photos and updates throughout my time away. She really put me at ease and handled the many needs of my older sick pup with great care, kindness, and professionalism. She stayed at my home with my pup and left the house in great shape. We will certainly be asking her to watch our dog again in the future.”
About: I am the definition of an animal lover, which I attribute to having had animals around my entire life. I grew up with Australian shepherds, German shepherds, cats, hamsters, and even tarantulas! I am extremely comfortable walking dogs, giving them medication via food, and managing when to let them out to go to the bathroom. I’m also willing to give a big furry dog a good brush if they need it! I have lived primarily with big dogs, but have had close relationships with small dogs through friends and my husband’s family whom I have dog sat for in the past. In addition, I am a massive cat lover. I was given a kitten when I was 8 years old and had her for 19 years until she just recently passed. In her senior years, she had both hypothyroidism and asthma so I am well-versed in giving cats inhalers and medication in various forms (via dropper, ear application, in treats, and in food). I am a dependable dog and cat sitter/caretaker because I know how much your animal means to you. I’m an extremely organized person so you can count on me to be reliable with pick-up, drop-off, and everything in between. Taking care of your animal would not be a job to me because I am so happy to do it! I work twice a week so I could watch an animal full time during three weekdays in addition to weekends. I am still more than willing to watch animal for an entire week and either modify my work schedule to be with them more, or just make sure they are set up for the days I am in office. I have a non-smoking home with one cat and two people including myself. My home would be an extremely relaxing environment for a pet and due to my flexible schedule, I can dedicate nearly full-time care to an animal. Since I have a cat, I would only really be able to have dogs stay overnight for a couple-day stint since I'd prefer to keep them separate. In my client's home I would offer the same care in addition to respecting the environment. I'm naturally a very clean person and always pick up after myself.

“Alexandra was fabulous! We went away for seven days and she took such good care of our dog Abby.. Alexandra would send pictures with updates every day. We will definitely use Alexandra every time again when we leave again.”

“Rachel is great! She is so accommodating and willing to work with you and your dog(s). She came and did 2 meet and greets with my dog Rascal and he knew her well enough by then for us to book her. She also sent pictures of both dogs throughout our time away to reassure us.”

“Haley and Alex came through for me in a very last-minute and stressful situation due to a family emergency. They stayed with my Boys and kept them happy and cared for in my home while I was out of town. They were great about keeping me updated, especially knowing how stressed I was since this was the first time anyone besides my immediate family took care of my pups. I would definitely book them again and will recommend them to all of my pet parent friends! 🐶🐾”

“This was our first time using a house sitter for our pets and it was a wonderful experience! Deanne provided daily updates and it was comforting knowing our pets were well taken care of in their own home. Highly recommend and will definitely use Deanne again in the future.”

About: I took care of my senior dog until he passed and I also have cared for many happy cats. I can do care from simple companionship and exercise to medication, special needs. I have a flexible schedule for this summer.I work part time at another job but that’s a very flexible schedule as well. I’m open to opportunities. I always try to maintain a safe and fun vibe during my time with pets. My priority at all times is making sure their needs are met.
“Cassandra did a wonderful job with my dog Maisy. Right before leaving for vacation my dog spent 3 days in an emergency hospital for a toxin overdose. Cassandra made me feel so at ease leaving Maisy with her. She accommodated follow up visits with my normal vet and communicated well with me. I trust her completely with my dog and my home. Everything was in wonderful shape when I came back. Highly recommend.”

About: As a retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief, I bring reliability, patience, and attention to detail to every pet I care for. I know every dog has a different personality, and I take the time to earn their trust while keeping them safe, comfortable, and happy. I'm an experienced dog owner and understand everything from energetic puppies that need structure and exercise to older dogs that benefit from a slower pace and extra patience. Whether your dog loves long walks, playing fetch, or just relaxing with company, I'll tailor my care to their needs and stick closely to your routine. I'll also keep you updated with photos and messages, so you can relax knowing your pet is in good hands. My goal is simple: to care for your dog the same way I'd want someone to care for my own. I'm retired from the U.S. Navy, so I have a flexible schedule that allows me to give pets the time and attention they deserve. I build my day around their needs, whether that's morning walks, midday potty breaks, playtime, feeding, or evening visits. I enjoy being outdoors and staying active, so regular walks are something I genuinely look forward to. I also understand the importance of keeping pets on their normal routine to help them feel comfortable while you're away. My goal is to provide dependable, consistent care and make your pet feel safe, happy, and loved every visit. I focus on keeping their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I follow your instructions for feeding, medications, walks, playtime, and any special needs, while making sure your pet receives plenty of attention and affection. During walks and visits, safety is always my top priority. I use secure leashing practices, pay close attention to each dog's comfort and behavior, and never rush their time outside. I clean up after pets, keep fresh water available, and make sure they get both physical exercise and mental stimulation. If I'm caring for your pet in your home, I'll treat your home with the same respect I would my own. You'll receive regular updates and photos, so you can enjoy your time away knowing your pet is safe, comfortable, and well cared for.
About: I’ve been around any and all types of dogs since a young age. I am a future physical therapist assistant who is dependable, skilled in safety, and fun! My schedule is currently flexible between ending my school program and taking my licensure exam. I am a caretaker through and through and am eager to spread some of that love to dogs. Spending a summer with animals and outside is a dream! I am keen to follow instructions precisely, ask questions, and when in doubt, always go for the safest route. My priorities are always safety and comfort ability in regards to humans AND animals!
“We couldn’t recommend Carly more highly! We had to travel unexpectedly and had just gotten a brand new puppy so were in a little bit of a bind. Carly stepped in without hesitation and took on watching not just the puppy but 2 other dogs. She took such good care of them and sent us lots of pictures throughout the weekend. Knowing they were so well cared for was so incredibly helpful and gave us the best peace of mind. You should absolutely book her for all your dog sitting needs!”

“Chris was great! I highly recommend her to watch your pets. She came over twice before we actually left, first for a meet & greet, and then as the date got closer she came by again to go over routines/directions. I really appreciated that second visit, closer to our vacation, to put my mind at ease. Chris was great with my dogs, and one of them has a lot of energy and some interesting quirks, but all went very well. I received daily communication and pictures. She followed the routines very well and reached out with any questions. She left the house was tidy, as well. I will be using Chris again and HIGHLY recommend her services.”

“Jessica was absolutely amazing! She was so kind, caring, and clearly loves dogs. She took my dog on a nice walk and even brought enrichment toys and activities to keep him entertained, which was such a thoughtful touch. It gave me such a peace of mind knowing he was in such great hands. We don't live in the area, but we'll definitely be booking Jessica again whenever we're back. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!”

“Ayla was great!! She was prompt in all her responses and completely put my mind at ease while watching our puppy for the day. You could tell our pup had a great time with her and I’d absolutely have her watch him again!”

“Sarah is a top notch dog sitter. She will leave your house looking clean and send you daily updates and pics. She will allow you to enjoy your vacation while you are away from the dogs. She is a very kind person and I knew I could trust the house and dogs with her.”

About: So let's be realistic, we have pretty busy schedules as adults. I don't though so don't feel bad when you schedule me haha. I've been a papa to the biggest of fluffers and smallest of small dogs. I'm very familiar with the feisty kittens and old grumpy cats, and at one point even a gold fish I kept for 2 years. I am no stranger to particular schedules, care routines, or special requests of animals. You got shedders? Not a problem I have lint rollers haha. I have been in customer service for years now, and every time when making someone's day easier or allowing them to feel less stress it brings me the most joy. I've been a mix of animals owner most of my life from fostering animals in need or assisting family and friends with taking care of their animals. I also supply baggies for bathroom time and long sleeves if it's chilly outside. I go on a lot of walks!! Anytime I'm not home baking or hanging out with a friend I'm normally just out and about exploring my neighborhood. My set preference schedule is actually just for when I have to either go to the gym or when I schedule appointments because Mondays work easier. Your pets are the number one priority. If they require something and I am attending them I make sure it happens. Not only is your space respected when I watch them but also the pets space. Feeding times, walk routes, and any medical requirements and boundaries will be discussed because all situations are different. If something happens like say something fell or they went potty by accident I will clean it up no problem. A work space is better when it's clean but also when it's fun!!! I do bring things like cleaning baggies and lint rollers but I can also make sure any particular scents are avoided.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Johnsburg walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Johnsburg maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Johnsburg choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
