About: I have had pets my entire life since I was a child and I absolutely adore them! I consider myself a highly sensitive person and that helps me stay attuned both to humans and pets! I have a flexible work from home job and because of that pet sitting fits smoothly with my daily and weekly routine. I can adjust as needed! I feed them on time, play with them during play hours and make sure that they feel safe and take care of. I would make sure to read the pet body language and make sure to give them enough space when they’re shy or not ready to interact!
“Last time we went away, we used a non-professional catsitter who , due to a family emergency, was only able to visit once in 4 days. This time, we loved getting photos of our cat weaving her way between Em's legs, nuzzling her face, etc. during twice-a-day visits. We were so glad to know that our kitty was fed and watered and that she had used her litterbox and it was not filthy (the rest of the house was quite dirty and messy, and we are very sorry about that and grateful that our catsitter fulfilled her obligation despite that). Thank you so much, Emily!”

“Thank you so much for taking great care of my cats! I really appreciate how quick you are to respond and how well you communicated while I was away. Made me feel good knowing they were in great hands.”

About: I have volunteered at Humane Societies with all kinds of pets because animals are my passion, and have had pets for almost 30 years. I currently have had a wonderful cat named Latte for 6 years and I couldn't live without her. I am available during the day to walk your dog or take it to play at a dog park, or check in on your cat and give it plenty of love, food, and attention. I make sure the pets I look after are cared for like my own, and their safety, comfort, and security are a top concern of mine.
About: I grew up with my Australian Shepherd, who was part of my family my entire life, and I helped care for her throughout her senior years. I now have my own cat, Emerald, and my family recently welcomed a terrier puppy named Edna. I also have experience caring for friends’ cats, as well as a neighbor’s and family friend’s Chihuahua and a family’s Golden Retriever. I’m comfortable caring for both cats and dogs, including pets with different personalities and energy levels. I’m responsible, patient, and attentive, and I take pride in providing the same loving care I would want for my own pets. I’ll be leaving my medical assistant position as I prepare to start PA school next year, so I’ll have a flexible schedule and plenty of time to dedicate to pet care. I’m available for walks, drop-in visits, and pet sitting throughout the week, including weekends. I’m able to spend quality time with pets rather than simply stopping by, and I’m happy to work around their individual routines and needs. I’m excited to use this time before PA school doing something I genuinely love! I’ll treat your pets like my own and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I’ll follow their normal routines for feeding, walks, playtime, and any special needs, while also keeping your home clean and secure. I’ll send regular updates and photos so you can relax knowing your pets are happy and in good hands!
“Alisha arrived exactly when asked to and treated my girl so well. Her updates are thorough and fun to read, and she took lots of cute pics of our pup. Even though our dog is rather shy, Alisha quickly build trust with her.”

“Anna was fantastic! Great communication and care. We were worried about leaving our elderly dog, but she quickly set our minds at ease. I will definitely be using her again!”

About: I have currently been training and walking dogs since 2008. Before that I worked at a dog boarding facility for 3 years. I have grown up with dogs and currently have a pitbull, GSD, husky mix as well as our 1 yo gray tabby. I currently work as a dog trainer and walker. Any time not spent with my clients is spent with my wife, daughter, and our two animals. Any care in your home will be to your specifications. I believe in respecting what is yours and how you do things. Your home is your castle.
“Sharon is great with our corgi, Wilson. She asks thoughtful questions and clearly cares about being prepared. She sends regular updates, which gives us peace of mind. It’s obvious she really loves the dogs she cares for, and it makes leaving Wilson much easier. She also is great at communication and is responsive to messages. We highly recommend her!”

“Melina was great! Very flexible with my last minute drop in request. My dogs loved her and she took great care of them. Went above and beyond in a rain storm to make sure their paws were dry and the floors were not muddy. Checked in regularly and made me feel at ease knowing my dogs were taken care of.”

About: I’ve been surrounded by animals my entire life and truly can’t imagine a home without them. I have hands-on experience caring for dogs, cats, horses, reptiles, birds, fish (both saltwater and freshwater), and small mammals as I’ve had all of them as pets or taken care of my friend's. As a teenager, I worked at a local kennel, gaining valuable experience with feeding routines, cleaning, and handling animals of all temperaments. I’ve also trained my own dogs, earning several first-place ribbons in competitions. I’m attentive, patient, and genuinely passionate about animal care—whether it’s a walk around the block or providing loving companionship while you’re away! I am also experienced in giving subcutaneous fluids and administering all kinds of medications from shots to pills I currently work weekdays from 2-8:30pm along with some weekends, but weekends I am off by 3pm. I also have periods of time where I don’t work for a couple of weeks here and there. I can come morning, afternoon, and night any day I am willing to bring a small animal into my home as long as they are ok with another large dog and small cat who are very friendly. I do not have a yard, but walks are given multiple times a day and I have a decent sized 2 story townhome with dog parks and turn outs close by. If I am to go to your home, I can do anything and everything. I have experience with giving fluids to cats and dogs for health issues and administering all kinds of medication

About: I’ve always loved being around animals and have experience caring for both dogs and cats. I’m responsible, attentive, and make sure pets feel comfortable and safe while their owners are away. I enjoy spending time outdoors and making sure dogs get the exercise and attention they need. I treat every pet like my own and always make sure owners get updates and photos during visits. I’m available on Fridays and weekends, and I have plenty of time during those days to give your pets attention, walks, and playtime. I’m reliable and consistent, and I’ll make sure to stick to your pet’s usual routine so they feel comfortable and cared for. I have a fenced yard and experience being around dogs, so I’m comfortable with different personalities and energy levels. I focus on keeping pets safe with supervised time, secure spaces, and following any instructions you leave. I want your pet to feel relaxed, safe, and at home while they’re with me.

About: Hi! I’m a dedicated animal lover with two cats of my own, and I absolutely adore caring for pets of all kinds. About: I'm excited to meet new pets and their people! While I'm new to Rover, I'm not new to caring for animals. I have over 20 years of professional experience caring for pets and homes, along with a lifetime of loving animals of my own. Animals have been part of my life since childhood. I've cared for dogs of every size, age, and personality, as well as cats, birds, and other small animals. Most recently, I spent four years living in Hawaii with my own dog, cat, and bird, and have cared for pets throughout the Bay Area, including Marin, San Francisco, Oakland, Contra Costa, and Napa. I'm an outdoor enthusiast who loves mountain biking, hiking, camping, and exploring nature. If your dog enjoys adventure and you're comfortable with it, I'm happy to include longer walks or outdoor adventures tailored to their energy level. I enjoy keeping active dogs both physically and mentally engaged, while always respecting each pet's individual needs and routine. During COVID, while my massage therapy practice was on pause, I got a certification in canine massage, deepening my understanding of canine anatomy, mobility, and comfort. This experience has been especially valuable when caring for senior dogs, anxious pets, and those who benefit from right amount of exercise and a calm, gentle touch. Every pet is different, and I take pride in carefully following your instructions so they feel safe, loved, and at home while you're away. My goal is to give you complete peace of mind, knowing your beloved companion is receiving attentive, experienced care. I've always believed animals are some of life's greatest gifts. To me, they are like guardian angels on Earth. They teach us unconditional love, presence, and joy. It's a privilege to earn their trust and care for them as if they were my own. Pet care fits naturally into my daily life. I currently work part-time with a flexible schedule, which allows me to plan my work around the pets I'm caring for whenever possible. I intentionally limit my commitments so I can provide each pet with the time, attention, exercise, and companionship they deserve. Whether your pet enjoys long walks, playtime, quiet companionship, or simply keeping their normal routine, I'm happy to adapt my schedule to meet their needs. I understand that consistency helps pets feel safe and comfortable while you're away, and I strive to make their time with me feel as familiar and stress-free as possible. Clear communication is important to me, and I'll keep you updated with photos and messages so you can enjoy your time away knowing your pet is happy, loved, and well cared for. Every pet is unique, so I take the time to learn their routine, personality, and preferences before you leave. I carefully follow your instructions regarding feeding, medications, exercise, favorite walking routes, sleeping arrangements, and any special needs to help your pet feel safe and comfortable. Whether your companion enjoys long walks and outdoor adventures, playtime, enrichment activities, or simply relaxing on the couch, I tailor my care to what makes them happiest. I believe consistency and patience help pets feel secure while their family is away.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
