We’re so grateful for Janet! We had overlapping work travel and she was able to watch Oscar despite our wonky schedules. We are a little concerned, however, that our cat is starting to like Janet better than us because he’s clearly disappointed when we come home! 😂

There’s a big reason Katherine has 5 stars! She is absolutely wonderful, very flexible with our changing schedule- and Mo, our chihuahua, absolutely adores her! She always sends many pictures when she visits, and shares what Mo has been up to while we are out. She has made him a very confident puppy on walks by taking him out regularly- he was very timid on walks before Katherine came around. I really can’t say enough about how happy and grateful we are to have Katherine! Mo sends big grins and lots of wiggles!

About: Hi! My name is Ebony, and I’m a college student pursuing a degree in Veterinary Technology. I’ve had cats and dogs my entire life and currently have a dog of my own, so caring for animals isn’t just a job… it’s my passion. With my background, I’m comfortable administering oral medications, recognizing changes in behavior, and responding appropriately in emergency situations. Cleanliness and organization are very important to me, and I always make sure your home and your pet’s space are left tidy. I am more than happy to provide regular updates and photos, so you always know how your fur baby is doing while you’re away. ❤️ While I attend school full-time , my availability outside of classes is fully dedicated to your pet’s care. I currently offer in-home sitting and walking services so your pet can stay in their familiar environment and maintain their daily routine. I understand how important patience, consistency, and compassion are when it comes to building trust with both pets and their owners. I strictly follow all provided feeding schedules, dietary needs, medication instructions, and routines to ensure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and stress-free in their own home. Thank you for considering me as your sitter ❣️

About: Growing up, we always had multiple dogs that were my responsibility to care for, and I loved every moment of it! I have spent the last several years helping my family and friends with watching, caring for, and walking their dogs when need - I'm the go-to person for them because they know their fury friends are in good hands with me! I have two cats of my own (one male and one female - both spayed/neutered), but I do not have any dogs of my own. I work full time - typically Monday-Friday away from home from 8:30amuntil between 3-5:30pm. Occasionally I work a few hours on a Saturday or Sunday, but this is the typical. If your home is near my work, I usually am available to do walks or check-ins on my lunchbreak. I have a small, non-fenced, yard that works well for quick outside potty breaks but live in an area that is good for dog walks. I have a decent sized home, so any size dog would feel comfortable playing inside. All pets are welcome on the couch - especially for cuddle time - and I have a spare bedroom where they would be welcome in the bed. I have space to hold dog crates if your dog is more comfortable in their own space for sleep.

Cat moms and dads- totally book with Halie! So grateful for her and so happy to have the peace of mind that comes with complete trust of your fur babies when you go out of town!! 10/10!! Thank you so much Halie!!!!

We had a wonderful experience with Elinor as our cat sitter! She was a great communicator from our initial request through her very last visit, which gave us a lot of peace of mind while we were away on an extended trip. Our cats don't always come out for strangers, so we were especially happy to see that they warmed up to her enough to come out for treats and even play with her during some of her visits. She sent us cute photos and thoughtful updates each day, which we really appreciated and loved seeing while we were away. Our flight home was unexpectedly delayed, and she was incredibly flexible about adding an extra day with the girls. It was such a relief knowing they were in good hands. We would definitely use her again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and communicative pet sitter!

Jessica dropped-in to feed and take care of our cats twice a day while we were gone for 10 days. She did a wonderful job, we’ve just come home and our cats are still happy and healthy, and their litter boxes clean! We had a crazy wind storm while we were gone that blew open a side door and knocked down part of our fence, she even helped to close & re-lock the door and sent a picture of our fence to let us know what had happened. This help showed me she cared about how we felt when we came home from our trip abroad!

About: My dogs are like my kids! I will treat yours just the same!! I have plenty of awesome references as needed of furry friends I have taken care of in my home and who I have taken care of by letting the doggies out at others homes as well. Any questions just let me know! Thank you for your time. Have a great day! I’m currently working part time and have the extra to walk , run and play with your pets! About: Hi, I’m Kris! Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and I genuinely love getting to know each pet’s unique personality. I have two years of professional experience working in a busy doggy daycare, where I was responsible for safely supervising and caring for up to 20 dogs at a time. That experience taught me how to read canine body language, manage group play, administer medications, maintain proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, and provide a safe, low-stress environment for every dog in my care. I’m comfortable with dogs of all breeds and sizes, including puppies, senior dogs, reactive dogs, and pets with behavioral challenges or special medical needs. I’ve also fostered dogs in my home, which has given me additional experience helping nervous or transitioning pets feel safe and comfortable. At home, I’m a proud pet parent to three dogs and a cat, so I understand how important it is to trust the person caring for your furry family members. Whether your pet needs an energetic walking buddy, a patient companion, medication, or simply lots of love and attention while you’re away, I’ll care for them as if they were my own. My goal is simple: to make sure both you and your pet feel comfortable, confident, and happy every step of the way. I can’t wait to meet you and your best friend! et care fits naturally into my daily routine because I already structure my day around consistency and animal care. I have experience managing multiple pets at once, so I’m used to building my schedule around feeding times, litter box maintenance, play sessions, and check-ins. I’m typically available mornings, afternoons, and evenings, which allows me to provide reliable drop-in visits and maintain a steady routine for each pet I care for. I’m comfortable incorporating visits into my day-to-day activities, and I plan my time so pets always get full attention without feeling rushed. Because I’ve worked in structured animal care settings and have fostered pets in my home, staying on top of routines like feeding, cleaning, medication, and companionship is second nature to me. Caring for animals isn’t something I “fit in”—it’s something I naturally organize my day around I prioritize safety, trust, and a calm environment in every pet care visit. I take time to understand each pet’s routine, personality, and any specific needs so I can provide care that feels familiar and stress-free for them. I’m careful with home entry and follow all owner instructions closely, including feeding schedules, medication routines, and any house rules. I keep doors secured during visits, monitor pets closely during interactions, and make sure their environment stays clean, comfortable, and safe at all times. Building trust with both pets and owners is important to me. I approach each animal with patience and respect, especially shy, senior, or anxious pets, and I always move at their comfort level. My goal is to create a safe, consistent experience so pets feel secure while you’re away and you feel

About: Hi! I'm a lifelong animal lover with years of hands-on experience caring for dogs and cats. Since 2008, I've volunteered at a local animal shelter, walking dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personalities. I've also provided trusted dog sitting for family and friends over the years, treating every pet like they're part of my own family. I'm passionate about animal welfare and believe every pet deserves patience, kindness, and lots of love. Whether it's a walk, a drop-in visit, or overnight care, I'll make sure your furry family member feels safe, happy, and well cared for while you're away. I have a fenced-in yard and two friendly dogs who are very calm to keep your pup company also. My husband works from home and I too am home mostly. It will be very rare when your pup is left alone in our house and if it is the case I am comfortable crating or leaving your pup to have the run of the house if that is what you would prefer. I have a neighborhood filled with sidewalks where many, many dogs walk so the sniffing is a must! I have a fenced-in yard and two friendly dogs who are very calm to keep your pup company also. About: I have had dogs since I was 8. I have also have had cats all my life. Currently have 2 dogs and 4 cats. Love animals. Love to play and love on pets that I know have great homes. I work from home 3 days a week. So it would be nice to walk more. Don't have side walks in my neighborhood. Love to just walk and explore. I have a fenced in yard, so my dogs tend to entertain themselves anymore. When weather is bad, we play fetch and tug. Make sure they are always fed and have attention.

We are so happy to have been connected with David! This is the first time we needed a pet sitter and I was anxious how our very shy girl would do. And while she mostly hid during his visits, he ensured she was eating and using her litter box everyday. It was an enormous relief to have someone who diligently checked on her and reported back to us. I highly recommend David and would not hesitate to use his services again.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Independence. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
