“Beth took amazing care of Monty! He got plenty of exercise and attention and I got plenty of updates while I was away. It was clear when he got home that he was far happier than when I've had to kennel him on trips. I would definitely call Beth again when I go out of town.”

“Heather was great with Mavis & Evie! Both are anxious and extremely needy, she did great with both! We will definitely be using Heather again for all our future trips!!!!”

“This was my first time using Rover.com. Stephen & Angela were great helping me feel at ease with the service. We did a meet & greet with our doggies. And Merlie & Cinnamon were very well cared for!! Thank you so much and I highly recommend!”

“Elizabeth and Phillip took great care of Hannah, and kept us informed and up to date with messages and pictures. Would certainly engage their services again!”

“Rachael was amazing! We were very apprehensive about going on vacation and leaving our dog, Bentley, because he was just diagnosed with diabetes a few months ago and requires not only insulin injections, but also eye drops. Rachael put us at ease as soon as we met her. She sent pictures daily and it was obvious Bentley thoroughly enjoyed himself! I would highly recommend her and will definitely use her services again!”

“Haley absolutely saved our life with a VERY last minute booking. She was super responsive, updated with photos, and was super close which made it the easiest experience possible. Cannot rave about her enough!!”

“Meela created a wonderful home away from home for Archer. She and her pups were welcoming and we got lots of updates and photos, which were wonderful because the kids wanted to know that he was having a good time and didn’t miss them. We are looking forward to having Meela pet sit again!”

“Libby really made Daisy feel secure, which is important with her eye sight issues. I appreciated the photos as I could see by Daisy's body language that she was relaxed. I will certainly ask for Libby to care for Daisy in the future.”

“Renee and Gary did a great job. Goofus was not anxious on drop off at all. Renee and Gary welcomed her and made her feel at ease. I could tell by the frequent pictures that were sent. Goofus was enjoying herself Thanks for the great care and the treat you sent home. Goofus”

“Sarah was wonderful with Missy and sent pictures to let me know how she was doing. My sweet Missy came home worn out which lets me know she had fun. Thank you, Sarah!!!”

“This is my first time having Stephanie taking care of my dog while I'm out of town for 3 weeks and I'm very glad I did it. Before I commit anything Stephanie is very considering and patient to set up a meet & greet to ensure it will work out. Stephanie also sent me updates and pictures so I can see my dog is doing great without issues. I would definitely recommend Stephanie to my friends or anyone looking for dog boarding.”

“This was my puppy's second stay with Melody. He was excited to arrive at her house. He is very attached, so it was good to see him happy to see her. I know he had a blast in the big backyard playing with the kids and other doggies!”

“Li was fantastic! I actually think our puppers was sad to come home after being so spoiled by Li and her family. We got regular updates, photos and videos of how he was doing that put us at ease. We are so thankful our pup had a home while we were away that cared for him as much as we do.”

“We would highly recommend Lynne! We left our pup with her for a three day weekend and everything was great. She would send us periodic updates and pictures of our dog playing with her two dogs...I think they all became best friends! Lynne is very thorough and prompt to reply. We would not hesitate to use her again should the need arise. Thank you Lynne!”

“Shane didnt have a problem with my overwhelmingly energetic dog. Seems like he can handle anything. Was able to book my dog the next day and the day after when I couldnt get my dog in time, thanks!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Hurstbourne
This was the first time using Rover. Carla was wonderful! She sent me some updates and picture while we were on our trip. Vivian tends to not react as much when we are away, this didn’t happen at all… which cracked me up and loved because I knew she felt at home! 😂😊🫶

We had such a great experience with Chris! Samson was well taken care of, and I’m convinced Chris has some kind of magic touch! Our boy normally barks at cars nonstop, but on the ride home, not ONE bark! Whatever Chris did, we need his secrets! 😂 10/10 would recommend and would happily book with him again!

It was my 14 month old Vizslas first time staying with a sitter (or anywhere but home) so I was a little nervous about leaving him for a week. Meg was super responsive and kept me updated on how he was doing with pictures and I felt so at ease knowing he was in great hands. I would 10/10 recommend her to anyone and will definitely be boarding with her again in the future! She made him feel at home and he had such a great time!

Brooke did a wonderful job with my two fur baby. She sent lots of pictures, keeping me up to date with their active. She was also very flexible when I needed to alter drop off or pick up. She was very fast replying to all communications. I will definitely be using her again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Hurstbourne home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Hurstbourne.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Hurstbourne sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in KY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
