“Awesome sitter, Nala is usually cranky when I get back but this time she was chill and happy. Melanie sent a whole bunch of adorable pictures each day for us, and even went out of her way to take a package in for us. Thank you so much!”

“Jeanne took excellent care of my cats! She watched my cats shortly after I moved so they were still stressed in their new, unfamiliar environment, but they were comfortable with her and even came out to play!”
“Maddy was so amazing!! She communicated super efficiently and quickly, and she also asked any questions she had, so I knew my kitties were getting the best of care! It was such a peace of mind being out of state.”

“Meg did an excellent job caring for our cats, bird and turtle! Great written summaries after each visit and lots of candid photos of all our pets :) We highly recommend Meg and look forward to having her back for our next vacation!”

“Breanna is exactly the person you need to care for your pet! She was flexible as we needed her last minute since our other sitter didn’t work out. She loved our kitten as her own. She took sweet photos and videos which helped when missing our baby. Her messages were detailed, and you could tell she got to know the personality of our kitten! Would highly recommend Breanna and would definitely have her as our sitter again!”

“Emily P. cared for our cat during our recent vacation. We couldn't ask for a better sitter! She is very reliable for the entire trip. She is kind and our cat loves her visits. We have used her several times and look forward to her excellent care again in the future.”

“Jeffery came for a drop by visit on short notice and did a wonderful job making Rio feel comfortable. I would definitely recommend him and will certainly be requesting his services again.”

“As always Shanna responds quickly to request and even when she is having a crisis with her own pet she still goes out of her way to take care of mine . I appreciate her so much!”

About: I currently work full-time in ABA, which has helped me become very patient, attentive, and dependable. I’ve had pets since I was 15 and currently have a cat named Cleo, so caring for animals has always been a big part of my life. My schedule is also pretty flexible, with some availability during the day. I would treat your pet like my own and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away. I currently work full-time in ABA, but my schedule is pretty flexible and I have some availability during the day. I would love to use my free time to care for your pup or cat when needed! I’m happy to work pet care into my daily or weekly routine based on your pet’s needs and schedule. I will always uphold the standards that keep pets safe, comfortable, and happy. I’ll follow each pet’s usual routine, including feeding, exercise, playtime, and any special instructions. I want every pet to feel cared for and comfortable while their owner is away.
About: Ever since I was little I have loved animals. Recently I’ve been helping walk dogs at a local rescue. I have two dogs of my own that I take care of. I’ve taught one of them a few basic commands like sit and stay. Currently I work in the mornings and go to school in the afternoons. Monday-Friday I would be available after 4pm. On the weekends I would be available throughout the day. In my own home the dogs get let out every couple of hours and 2 walks per day. I would be flexible depending on how the owner wanted things scheduled though.
About: I’ve been surrounded by dogs and cats my entire life, so caring for pets has always come naturally to me. While I’m not able to have any furry companions of my own right now because of my current living situation, I truly miss having them in my life. I’d love the opportunity to give your pet plenty of love, attention, playtime, walks, and, with your permission, a few well-deserved treats! I’ll care for your pet as if they were my own, making sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. I currently work full time at home Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm however, my schedule is flexible and I am able to take breaks throughout the day. I can make almost anything work with enough notice. I provide care in my client’s home so pets can stay in the environment where they feel happiest and most comfortable. I understand that keeping their normal routine helps reduce stress while you’re away. I’ll make sure your pet receives plenty of attention, exercise, playtime, fresh food and water, and lots of love. I’ll also follow any specific care instructions you provide to ensure your pet’s routine and needs are met every step of the way.
“This was our second time to use Zalexis's services to house sit and care for our cat and we were just as pleased this time as we were the first! She's always quick to respond to messages and send pictures. We returned to a happy cat and everything spic and span. Thanks again for a job well done!”

“Eleanor was exceptional! Sweet, personable and eager to learn how to give our kitty her insulin injections! She came to our house 4 times on her own to practice and make sure we were both comfortable. She learned and practiced outside of our scheduled vacation times! Our kitty has multiple issues that were all handled with love and compassion. I can’t believe we found such an angel! Absolutely amazing. I will use her again and again and recommend her to everyone I know❤️”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
