“Patricia was an amazing pet sitter for our 3 cats while we were on vacation for 2 weeks. She gave them lots of love and attention, kept their litter boxes clean, made sure they had fresh water and food, and even sent us daily pictures and videos. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were in such caring hands. Highly recommend her!”

“Victoria was very responsive, prompt, friendly, reliable, communicative, and did exactly what I asked her to do. She spent time to make sure Tseze (and the farm dog) felt comfortable with her, something that is very important to me. Thank you Victoria, we look forward to seeing you again! Mahalo, Lindsay”

“Jessie is great! She does an excellent job taking care of my cat’s needs, playing and keeping me informed with photos. It’s such a relief knowing my cat is in good hands while I’m gone at work. Very much appreciated, mahalo”

“Our first time using Rover pet services and had a very good experience trusting Regan with our home and cats! The cats warmed up to her immediately! We will definitely ask her to pet sit again!”

About: Hi! My name is Isabella A, and I’m a full-time student at the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo. In my free time, I love being outdoors, whether it’s hiking, going to the beach and looking for shells, or exploring new places to eat. Growing up here on the Big Island, I was always surrounded by animals, which sparked my lifelong love for them. I’ve had experience caring for dogs, and cats since i was 10 and I understand how important pets are as members of your family. You can trust me to provide attentive care, lots of love, playtime, and snuggles for your four-legged family members. 🐶❤️ I am currently a full time student with a part time job. I will be available anytime during breaks (winter, spring, summer). During these breaks i will be available from 7am - 5pm! 😊 I would love to meet your furry companions and make sure they feel safe, loved, and entertained while you are away! They deserve the best! ❤️✨

About: Before moving to Hawai'i, I created a small house sitting, animal care & lawn care company where I would bundle out services. Home owners were always happy and the animals were too, hence why they always booked me and recommended me to their friends and family which I always appreciated. You can be sure that your animals are taken care of, exercised and cuddled. I always try to send pics and updates so you don’t miss your fur babies too much! I always try to leave your house nicer than I found it as a way to ensure you know it was taken care of. I also am experienced with bottle feeding, horses, homestead caretaking, diabetic animals and elderly animal care. Let’s talk story and see if we are a good fit :) Im currently a full time grad student for counseling which means I have the ability to be home with pets on Tues/Thurs and would have some flexibility MWF for midday check ins or walks. As a counselor in training, my schedule can change last minute with clients cancelling or needing to reschedule on MWF which can benefit your furry friends! Lets talk story to see if we are a good match :) I currently live in a shared space in Hilo without a fenced yard so my services would need to be restricted to caring for your pets at your house unless it is a smaller well behaved animal for a night or two. I will always leave your house the way I found it (if not nicer). If you would like to bundle services for landscaping or house cleaning, please let me know and we can talk story!
“Marya is an excellent pet sitter. I was unable to physically take care of my cats due to heath issues. She responded quickly and I was able to know that my animals are well cared for. She sent photos of my pets so I could see the care they received. I highly recommend her for your pet caring needs.”

“Austin was absolutely amazing. My dog is not the easiest to handle since she is so shy, and barks a lot. But he was extremely patient with her and she warmed up to him, they were friends by the end of the stay. He went above and beyond for us, and we are extremely grateful!!!”

“Kristen is a superior pet sitter. She took care of my dogs and chickens for 1.5 weeks and was on time for her visits. She made sure the dogs didn't escape from the fenced area, she played with the dogs, and even brought them a toy to play tug of war with. When we initially met, she had paperwork for me to fill out, which felt very professional, and in the meeting before we left, she took notes. When I was on my trip, I had forgotten to log into Rover from my phone, so in addition to submitting her photos and comments to Rover, she also sent me the pictures and comments to my phone directly. Lastly, our water system malfunctioned during the trip, resulting in beeping from the filter system. She took it upon herself to send me a video to inform me and asked me if there was anything I would like her to do to address the issue. This wasn't in her pet-sitting duties, but it was kind and thoughtful. I highly recommend Kristen for drop-in visits.”

“Vanessa is a great pet sitter, she was very attentive to the need of our animals and kept in close communication with us. She also provided many detailed photos and descriptions of each visit that we appreciate very much! 10/10”

About: Aloha: My experience goes back to my childhood, where I helped my mother breed and raise Cocker Spaniel puppies. I have always owned animals, including cats during my college years, and our family has cared for goats, dogs, chickens, and rabbits. I am very comfortable with puppies and experienced in fostering their training process, committing to the consistency necessary for a dog's development. Furthermore, I have experience caring for elderly animals at the end of their life cycles, including administering medicine and providing extra care. I have also attended to animals with various injuries. My primary strength is maintaining consistent routines, which I believe is essential for helping an animal feel loved and safe. Regarding equine experience, I have basic ground work skills with horses and donkeys. As my children have been riding since age three, I have had many opportunities to groom, feed, clean hooves, and ensure there are no external injuries from the ground. I appreciate your time and consideration. Aloha: Our ohana owns a 3-acre property on the Big Island, where we are blessed with three outdoor rescue cats, three rescue dogs, and two Nubian goats. As a dedicated mother and wife, caretaking is truly my blueprint. Caring for animals and providing house-sitting services for a "staycation" fits perfectly with my passion for animals. It also provides me with a wonderful opportunity to take some time for myself to relax and rejuvenate. I love to excercise walking dogs is my joy. I love to nurture and cuddle animals . I am a mama of 2o yrs thus I am always detail oriented regarding health. Our ohana is currently blessed with three rescue female dogs, three female outdoor rescue cats, and two Nubian goats. As they are a vital part of our family, they receive a high level of love and nurturing daily. My responsibilities and experience in caring for them include: - Daily Care: Managing daily feeding schedules and ensuring all animals are well-nourished. - Exercise and Training: Taking the dogs on regular walks around the neighborhood and maintaining up-to-date training. I have also personally trained our puppies. - Health and Wellness: Regularly checking all animals for health irregularities, administering natural medications when necessary, and staying current on goat vaccinations. - Goat Management: Grooming the goats, cleaning the barn, and providing them with nutrient-rich supplements. We take great pride in providing a healthy and loving environment for all our rescues. Please let me know if you need any further information.
“Dani was fantastic and the fur kids loved her. They were happy to see her and sad when she left. Dani is respectful and responsive. She sent great photos and were completely relaxed knowing she was caring for our pets.”

About: I’ve always enjoyed caring for animals of all types and taking care of a home, and I’m someone who naturally pays attention to the little things. Ive done pet and property sitting my whole adult life, primarily in Bend, OR. I also spent time in Corfu, Greece caring for dogs with disabilities who were abandoned. Ive worked with dogs of all sizes, cats, and farm animals. I’m comfortable with all kinds of pets and understand that every animal has its own routine and personality. When you’re away, I know you want someone dependable who will follow your instructions, keep your pets comfortable, and leave your home the way you found it. That’s the kind of care I provide—straightforward, responsible, attentive, and trustworthy. Pet care fits naturally into my routine. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to give pets plenty of attention throughout the day, while keeping up with their normal feeding, exercise, medication, and bathroom routines. I enjoy having animals as part of my daily life and make sure their care is a priority rather than something I have to fit in around a busy schedule. Pet and House sitting is all I do, so I dedicate all of my attention to it and am focused on those responsibilities. I follow each pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding, exercise, medications, and plenty of attention. In a client’s home, I’m respectful of their space and follow their instructions carefully, while keeping things clean and making sure their pets are comfortable, safe, and well cared for. I'm very attentive and notice when an animal is acting even a little bit off and pay great attention to their body language.
About: I have trained my two Australian Shepherds to complete nationally in AKC agility. My dog Maggie has been ranked as the number one freshman all American dog in the Winter 2023 agility season. I also have experience with puppies and toy breeds. I have a chihuahua. My family raises AQUA quarter horses, and I have years of farm and ranch experience. I have raised many orphaned kittens and I understand cats. Pet care is my priority. I wake up in the morning interacting with animals and I continue to provide for both cats and dogs throughout the day. I usually feed after the dogs relieve themselves and then I will also feed cats. I then check water dishes and clean up any messes or cat litter. Then I interact with the pets and check their well-being. In the client’s home I follow all of their rules and take photos of their pets. I own my home. I have a fenced yard, and crates.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hilo. On Rover:

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
