“Gabby Wow! You treated Roscoe with such care and love. It was comforting to know he was in excellent hands while we were out of town. We loved your daily communication and photos. Thanks for taking such amazing care of our sweet boy! We loved having you as his sitter.”

“Ben was great! He was very easy to communicate with and I appreciated that he was available to come to our house and meet us and our dog on such short notice. While we were away, Ben did a great job giving me updates and letting me know when he was departing on his final day. He left our house exactly like he found it, actually a little better since he took out the trash and watered flowers too! Ben was super great to work with and I will happily use him again!”

About: I have always had a big heart for all dogs. They truly are man’s best friends! I grew up with 2 dogs of my own, Melbee and Reese. I watched and helped care for them in the crazy puppy and teething stages, the feisty teenager stage, all the way up into the little old lady stage. They were the most loving, sweet dogs and I miss them so much. I think every dog deserves all the love, head scratches, and snuggles in the world and would love to be there for your dogs when you are taking a vacation or will be away! I helped both my dogs with training for emotional therapy support and was there for both puppy potty training courses! I do work Monday - Friday from home, but I am available as early in the morning as you need and then I am avalible after work. If your dog is older and able to come stay at my apartment, I can watch them during my workday! I am also free on the weekends to stop by and care for your baby as much as you need! My apartment complex does not have a fenced yard, however, they do have tons of open space for dogs to play in, lots of walking paths, and are considered to be very pet friendly! There is more than enough space for your dog to get all the walkies and play time they need. In your own home, I will make sure to keep everything exactly the way you need, clean up after both the dogs and myself, and keep your home in top notch condition. I know dogs can get messy sometimes so If you show me where the vacuum is, I will get right to work! Nothing is better than coming home to your favorite pet and a nice clean home!
“Stephanie did an excellent job of taking care of my cat while I went on vacation. She sent updates and pictures to me while I was gone. She completely won over my cat. I highly recommend Stephanie and will definitely book her again for my next trip.”

“Jessica spoiled our 2 senior boys while we were on vacation. Being able to keep them at home where they are comfortable was great! She made sure they went out to potty before the storms arrived, and left our home in great condition. Giving meds and keeping them on a feeding schedule was no problem for Jessica!”

“Annika was awesome. She played with rocky and molly the second she got to my house. Informed me everything that was going on throughout her stay. Even my dogs seemed disappointed when I showed up instead of Annicka lol. She did everything perfect. Definitely would recommend her to anyone”

“Tyrese was great. He took care of our dogs and house for an entire week. Kept us up to date every day on our dogs. And when we got home our house was clean, and dogs seemed well taken cared for, we appreciate you Tyrese and will use you again.”

“Ellie is just as genuine in person as she comes across in her bio. Immediately after meeting her I knew our dogs would be in good hands. She is a true dog person and has such a heart for making them feel comfortable. We were gone for a week and she made sure to send lots of pictures and videos. I could tell just from the pictures that our dogs were comfortable with her. One of our dogs is geriatric and on meds and she handled managing his medication schedule so well. I would highly recommend her and will not hesitate to use her again.”

About: I have nearly 8 years of professional work experience with dogs and cats. I’ve been around dogs my entire life. I feel comfortable with all sizes of dogs but do prefer large and giants! I work at an Animal Shelter so I do have experience handling various breeds, ages, temperaments, etc. on a daily basis. I vaccinate, microchip, and sometimes help medicate the animals at the shelter I work at. I have a “problem” child of my own so I know how to work with stress/anxiety, on leash reactivity, and wariness of strangers in dogs. I’m patient and understand the stress that dogs/cats feel when their owners are gone. Most importantly I understand how hard it is to find a person to trust your pets with. I do have a full time job working at a shelter but I am available in the evenings for walks or care on my work days. Depending on the area of town, I am also available in the mornings before work to care and feed. My dog, Charlie is very reactive to dogs and new people. I practice safe management every day. I do the same for dogs that I care for.
“Michelle W did an awesome job caring for our elderly pupper. She sent pics on their walks, gave him love & attention, fed him on our schedule, brought in our mail, and informed us of a Christmas package that had arrived. This is our 2nd Christmas having Michelle care for our dog/home and we could not be happier! Michelle is a professional, personable, caring person to trust with your pet. HIGHLY RECOMMEND her.”

About: I have 15+ years of experience owning and caring for dogs of all ages. I am an absolute dog fanatic and LOVE just about every four-legged furry friend I meet. I am constantly surrounded by dogs and I wouldn't have it any other way. I will provide hands-on, diligent care for your pet whether it's a quick walk around the block or an extended in-home stay. I'm extremely trustworthy, experienced and reliable for any of your needs. I'm very flexible schedule-wise and am open to discussing fair rates with pet owners based on the needs. I know how important it is to leave your pet with someone you trust, so I treat every animal as if they were my own and every home with the utmost care and respect. Please message me if you're interested in chatting more about my services and your needs! Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because I work as a freelance marketing and graphic design professional, which allows me to work remotely and create my own flexible schedule. That flexibility means I can prioritize each pet’s needs throughout the day, whether that’s walks, potty breaks, playtime, medication, meals, or simply providing companionship. I love being able to spend quality time with the pets in my care rather than just stopping by for the basics. Because I work remotely, I’m able to provide plenty of company for pets who don’t do well being left alone for long periods. I’ll also keep you updated with regular photos and messages so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. :) My goal is to keep your pet’s routine as consistent and stress-free as possible while you’re away. I carefully follow your instructions for feeding, medications, exercise, and any special needs or preferences. I respect your home as if it were my own, keeping everything clean, secure, and exactly as you left it. I always double-check doors, gates, leashes, and anything else related to your pet’s safety. Building trust with both pets and their owners is my top priority, and I strive to create a calm, loving environment where your pets feel comfortable and cared for.
About: I am a retired grandma with many years of pet sitting experience. I don’t have any pets but love getting to watch my grand dogs. I am home all day and very flexible. I am available most days and very flexible. Easy to work with and very quick responding to sitter requests. Let me help you with all your pet sitting needs. I have a fenced yard to allow dogs to run outside. I love to take walks. I enjoy cuddling and loving on all pets. Very trustworthy and protective of your fur babies.

“You know you’ve had a great dog sitter when you come home from a trip and the dogs act like they don’t even care! 🤣 Susan was amazing with keeping us posted through pictures and texts about how our girls were doing the whole time. She went above and beyond spending time with them and just generally easing our mind about leaving our furkids behind. Will definitely book her again if she is available!”

“Our house and dog sitter was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. They kept our home spotless, followed all instructions perfectly, and gave our dog so much love and attention while we were away. We received regular updates and photos, which gave us total peace of mind. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hillsdale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hillsdale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hillsdale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hillsdale. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 93% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
