“Cathy did an outstanding job caring for my two dogs (a Corgi and a Corgi mix) for a full week. She’s incredibly friendly, accommodating, and easy to work with. She followed all of my instructions—including a two-page list of special requests like their daily walks, playtime schedule, and a custom feeding routine of kibble, pumpkin, and wet food—without hesitation. I felt completely at ease leaving my fur babies with her, thanks to the daily text updates and adorable photos she sent. I’m so glad I found her and will absolutely be booking with her again!”
“Desi and Marilyn were great with my goldendoodle and my sister’s cockapoo. The dogs spent a week while we were on vacation. Desi sent daily updates and they were really good in introducing our dogs to their dogs gradually. Our dogs are only one year old and this was their first time away from us. A positive experience!”
“My dog can be a little tough, but Britany took good care of her! She and Her family made sure that my anxious pup felt comfortable! I’d be happy to have my poodle stay with her again!”
“Ralphie had a great stay at Elizabeth and Oleg’s. Liz was very accommodating to Ralphie’s needs and very timely in returning texts. We will happily book with Liz again.”
“Caring family who took our Obie in and treated him very well. Yesenia sent videos of Obie playing, making us feel good and confident that he was having a great time.”
“Ann was very nice and kind. Make my little dog feel welcomed within minutes. I like the fact that the property is fully fenced. Also, it was nice of her to send me pictures of my dog and provided quit reply to any questions. I would definitely use her service again!”
“Thanks Ankita...They were attentive, reliable, and clearly cared for my dog like their own. I felt completely at ease knowing my dog was happy, safe, and well taken care of.”
“Peiyi and Greg took such great care of our girl while we were on vacation! She was happy and relaxed when we picked her up. We loved getting photos and videos too. We can’t thank them enough for being such great sitters!”
“Jillian and her husband were fantastic with our 5 month old puppy! I would highly recommend them to all that may be in need of a sitter for their dog. We will definitely be calling on them in the future.”
“Rhea and Michael are very warm people. This was my Harleys first time away from us and he was happy and well taken care of. I recommend them to anyone is looking for a relaxing time away without worry. Rhea sent pictures and Harley looked very content!”
“10/10 every time. Carol and her family take the absolute best care of Max we could ever ask for. Their home has become our dog's vacation home while we are away! Thank you so much for all you do and for making us feel comfortable and worry-free while he's with you.”
“I couldn’t be happier with how Priscilla looked after my dog Piper! She sent lots of pictures and updates. Piper left her very happy! We have already booked Priscilla for our next trip. 5 stars!”
“Gabriela took such amazing care of our dog this weekend. She kept us up to date with plenty of pictures and updates the entire time she had Hope. Can’t wait till out next visit to her and her amazing family. Highly recommended sitter. Would absolutely rebook the next time we need someone to take care of Hope. Wonderful sitter and took simply the best care of our dog while we were away.”
“We left our little girl Violet, a very loved 5 yo Lhasa Apso, in the care of Sandra and San this past weekend. From the moment Sandra and I met, I could see how loving and caring she was for her own adorable pup, Penny. We did a meet and greet and Violet and Penny got along beautifully! We knew Violet would be in good hands. Throughout the weekend, we received pictures and we could see just how comfortable and happy Violet was! When it was pickup time, all her belongings were together and packed for home. We felt comfortable, confident and excited to find a place we can trust for Violet when she can’t be with us! We highly recommend Sandra and San! Your pups will thank you for it too!”
“First Impressions Boarding my dog, Lilly, with someone outside the family for the first time made me a little nervous. My granddaughter, who had used Rover before, helped me submit the application and choose a sitter. Even on the way to drop Lilly off, I still felt apprehensive, but that quickly changed when Teresa gave us such a warm welcome and Lilly and I were greeted by Teresa’s three friendly dogs. Although Lilly seemed a bit overwhelmed at first, she soon relaxed after playing in Teresa’s large backyard, and I felt comfortable leaving her there. Updates During Her Stay Teresa reassured me that Lilly would be well cared for and promised to keep me updated. She followed through by sending photos and notes about how Lilly was sleeping, eating, and taking her medicine, which I really appreciated. Pickup and Overall Experience When I picked Lilly up, Teresa told me what a joy she had been to care for. She said Lilly was very sweet, that her daughter had fallen in love with her, and even one of her dogs had taken a liking to her. Teresa also said Lilly would be welcome back anytime. I left feeling grateful for the care Lilly received and would happily trust Teresa with her again.”
“John was very tentative to our dog . We loved his positive energy . We can tell he's a true animal lover . He was so easy going and flexible when we had to change our drop off off time last minute . Love how him and his son made our dog feel loved :) Photos were adorable of her he sent ! Thanks so much :)”

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
