“Desi and Marilyn were amazing. My pup Bruce had a great time and Desi and Marilyn were extremely responsive and sent multiple updates throughout the day. Grade A doggy daycare. Will use again!”

About: I have two siblings with a rescue dog each and I have been the go-to auntie to dogsit for them for years. Anytime anyone’s need to go on a trip, Auntie’s got them 💪. I work from home and have a flexible schedule so I can give them the attention, the cuddles, the walks, and the treats they need to be absolutely cared for. I work a remote job from 9-5. It’s not demanding so I have lots of flexibility. I will do walks in the mornings and evenings and can fit in a fun one in the afternoon for a little nature enrichment. Meal times are how the dog parents want. They can have access to my furniture and bed. I see myself as their auntie and they will be treated with the best love and care. My apartment is right next to a train so there will be loud train noises every few hours. I’m hoping this doesn’t spook the babies but please keep that mind.
About: I have years of experience with cats and dogs of all ages. I have so much love for all animals and I’m very patient in taking care and getting to know them. I’ve had many dog clients and each dog has their own personality. Each client I have, I take the time to make sure that the pet is comfortable and happy. On the days I have your pet, I will have plenty of time to take care of them for their scheduled time. I love animals and have pets myself so pet care falls naturally into my daily actives. From making time to walk, feed, and exercise with them. My top priority is to provide a safe environment for the pets that will be in my home or a clients home. Its very important for me to make sure I provide good communication with the owner. Before taking care of your pet, I like to discuss specific requirements my clients might need for their pet, such as feeding schedules. exercise routines, and any special needs. I give frequent updates and provide many pictures and if there’s anything of concern that I see while your pet is in my care I make sure to notify the owner immediately.

About: I’ve been around dogs my entire life. Our dogs are like children to us. Now, as we work from home and have a big yard, we have the ideal setup for happy, safe dogs—and want to share it with your fur baby! Stay at Penny’s House - We’ve raised our 3-year-old mini poodle to be a happy, gentle and well-rounded pup. She loves to play and cuddle, and gets along very well with other dogs and cats! She’s a great hostess. - Our home is very loving and safe. Someone is always around to give cuddles and love, plenty of cozy places to hang out, and hazards are always out of reach. - We have a fully fenced, big backyard where your beloved fur baby can play fetch and get out all their zoomies frequently and safely. It's also covered in grass and shaded by large trees, so don't worry about hot summer days! - We don't anticipate anything happening, but just in case, rest assured because our home is only *one block* away from an excellent animal hospital! - We’ll do our best to make sure that your little buddy will feel loved and at home here, getting the same level of care you like to provide to them. - We’ve had senior dogs and a dog with diabetes, so we are very careful and will always give attention to detail to adapt to their needs, whether it be diet, exercise, attention, or anything else. We read ingredients and will follow your instructions carefully. - We will keep you updated with photos and videos so you know they’re safe and having a good time. - ¡Se habla español! Si tu perrito se siente más cómodo que le hable en español, solo díganos cuáles comandos utilizan. It’s hard to find someone to trust with your pet; we found this out the hard way. So we hope our home can be the place you rely on to feel safe leaving your little bundle. REQUIREMENTS: We’re flexible and easygoing. But because we want everyone to have a good, safe time, we do have a couple of requirements: 1) We require a meet-and-greet for all new clients before a stay to make sure our dog and yours get along well. 2) Your dog must be up-to-date on all vaccines: rabies, bordatella, lepto, etc. Because we work from home, we are available at home to take care of your little buddy full time for boarding and daycare at our home. A fully-enclosed, shaded backyard for zoomies and lots of walks around our safe, dog-friendly, and tree-lined neighborhood. Your fur baby will be under our supervision throughout the day and will get frequent trips to the yard and lots of time to play. We're also happy to walk your dog as often as you need. We’re always happy to be flexible with your schedule to accommodate both your and your dog’s needs.
“She is really thoughtful and caring! She sent us lots of pictures to keep us updated on our dog, and I could tell from those photos that she truly loves dogs. She pays great attention to detail and makes sure everything is done properly. I feel completely safe and comfortable leaving my dog with her — highly recommended!”

“I am beyond happy that I found Katherine this is the second time she watches my 3 pups. She sends me updates throughout the day. She sends me videos as well. I’m at peace knowing that my pups are in good hands. I’m moving to a different area in El Paso but I will definitely be driving to Katherine’s when I need her services. I wouldn’t leave my girls with anyone but her. Thank you Katherine Jade, Rosie and Bella love you 🩷🩷🩷”

“This is definitely my first experience and the best too! I am pleased because my dog enjoyed her day with Jess. She is the sweetest dog sitter I've known ever. Thank you, Jess. You have a special connection with my doggy. So nice and sweet!!! Thank you!!!”

“Nosa was super super accommodating with my schedule, Roxy loves being with Nosa and he treats her so so well. I highly recommend Nosa and will definitely be sending Roxy to Nosa again!!!!”

“My fiancé and I have never taken our dog to a dog sitter before. It was our first time leaving our Sasha girl with someone other than a family member, and we were so nervous to use this app, but Rocío has definitely changed our minds. Rocío was so sweet, gentle and patient with Sasha upon meeting her for the first time. She kept us updated throughout the day with pictures of Sasha playing in the yard, which put our minds at ease. The constant communication and updates gave us the reassurance that Sasha was in good hands. When I picked her up, I can tell that Sasha wasn’t anxious to see me or leave, like she normally is when we leave her alone for a few hours. Rocío said Sasha did really well for her it being her first time with a dog sitter and it filled my heart. Rocío and her family are so nice and welcoming. You can tell they have a genuine love for animals. We will definitely be using this service again! Thank you so much for everything!”

“Eric was awesome! I needed someone to watch Murph for the day and none of my regulars were available. Eric was my last chance and lucky for us he was available. But the real story here is that it was a great experience. Eric was extremely nice, easygoing and both him and his wife were very personable. I felt like I had known him all along and he that had watched Murphy before. Their dog, Bacon, is as gentle as can be and got along well with Murphy. I definitely will look to use Eric's services in the future.”
“My wife and I are first time pet owners together and it was extremely hard to leave our Djinn behind in the care of stranger. But as God would have it, he supplied us Zuleyka! She’s been our blessing. She’s taken very good care of our dog and made him very comfortable; calming his separation anxieties. She’s made him feel right at home and has also calmed our fears and worries as well. She’s given us timely updates and photo’s and even offered us video chats. She’s also provided us with special accommodations for our Djinn; which we were very pleased with. We look forward to using her services again in the future. Sincerely, Kelvin & Delores Crawley”

“Thank you to Amarys and her family for taking such great care of my babies! She kept me updated throughout the day, was very responsive, and sent me lots of pictures, which gave me great peace of mind. She followed all of my instructions and spent plenty of time playing with my dogs. I’m so happy I found the right person. I’ve already booked another daycare with her and can’t wait to see her again!”

About: I recently moved to NYC for grad school at Columbia. Between research/thesis work, I'm looking for a side gig and honestly there's nothing I'd rather be doing than hanging out with some cute dogs and cats. My profile may be new on Rover, but I've been a dog person my whole life. My parents had five German shepherds when I was growing up, and then years later when we moved, I got a yellow Lab, Molly, for us. She's 6 now. I couldn't bring her to NYC with me, so she's living her best life with my family in Ohio. Walking or sitting your pet is the closest I'll get to having my pupper back. I trained Molly myself from a puppy - crate training, the whole thing. She's kind of notorious for being a ridiculously sweet dog who never barks or jumps on people and she's the sweetest. She's off-leash trained too, so patience is something I definitely have only when it comes to dogs not as much as humans. That said: I won't be training your dog. I don't think I'm qualified for that. I'm just here to spend time with them and make your life a little easier :) I've also volunteered on and off at a dog shelter, so the dirty work doesn't scare me at all. I've worked with the nervous ones, the scared ones, and the ones with way too much enthusiasm. I'm reliable, I'm a straightforward communicator, and you'll get lots of photos and regular updates. I'm on the Upper West Side, so I'm close by and available. Use the link https://www.rover.com/sit/anushd37062 to get $40 off your first booking with me! My grad school classes don't start until beginning of September and in the meantime I am just focused on my research work from home, which means my schedule is wide open and very flexible. I don't mind weekdays, early mornings or late evenings, and I don't mind weekends at all either. I’m new to Rover, but I assure you that I’ve spent years caring for animals, especially my own dog Molly, and I've regularly pet-sit for friends and family! I will always treat your pet like my own: sticking to their routine, plenty of walks and attention, and regular photo updates so you always know how they’re doing because I know how anxious one can be being away from their pets. Happy to set up a meet-and-greet beforehand so you can get a feel for me. I ask a lot of questions but that's only to ensure that I have everything right before I take care of your precious pets. Walks: whatever your dog's used to. Quick loop or a long one, whatever their pace is will be mine! I'll follow your routine rather than invent my own. Sitting: I'm available to hang out at your place since I am just working on my research from my laptop at home, so whether that means playing with your pet or just keeping an eye on them and letting them out, I am more than willing to adjust to whatever your and your pet needs are. Drop ins: I can also swing by to feed them, top up water and take them out and give them some attention so they're not bored. For any of these, I'll follow your instructions exactly. Feeding, meds, routines, house rules. If you tell me she only eats from the blue bowl and I have to sit with her as she eats, I'll do that. I'll send photos and let you know how it went, and I'll always make sure to flag anything that seems off to me:)
“I was so nervous to drop off my newly rescued small Chiweenie and Geoff and Jenny did such a good job caring for him with so much love. Super friendly and accommodating. I can’t wait for him to go back to another doggy daycare day!”

“Liz and her family were great! They took excellent care of my pup during the day. I felt at ease knowing that Louie was safe and having fun. I would definitely use Liz again for doggy daycare!”

The median cost per day for doggy day care in Hawthorne is $49

Tyler has cared for my dog twice, and both experiences were excellent. He was always waiting outside for pickup and drop-off, which made the transition easy and stress-free. My dog went right to him both times and seemed genuinely happy to see him, which gave me a lot of confidence in his care. On our second visit, I accidentally clipped her leash to her name tag ring instead of her collar. She slipped free and ran after another dog across the street. Thankfully, Tyler reacted immediately, ran after her, and safely secured her. It was a scary moment, and I was incredibly grateful for how quickly and calmly he handled it. The fact that my dog was excited to return for a second stay spoke volumes. I'm thankful she was in such caring and capable hands and would happily recommend Tyler to other pet parents.

Great experience! They took really good care of Quinn and made sure she was happy and comfortable the whole time. I appreciated all the updates and photos - it made me feel at ease while I was at work. Quinn got nice walks and plenty of attention, and it was clear she was in good hands. I would definitely book with them again. Thank you for taking such good care of her!

Erica was AMAZING with Chloe! 🐶 My pup spent the entire day with her and did wonderfully. It was clear from the beginning how caring, patient, and attentive Erica is. Chloe came back home happy, relaxed and very well taken care of, which gave me great peace of mind. I would absolutely book with Erica again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and loving dog sitter. Thank you, Erica! 🙌💙

Kun, from the get-go had been very responsive. Bunny has stayed with Kun and his wonderful family a couple of times for daycare and they have been so kind and loving to Bunny. Kun takes Bunny out for walks, makes Bunny practice his tricks and overall keeps Bunny very mentally stimulated! Can’t recommend him enough! Also, Som is super adorable 🥰

Lisa and her husband Joe are so welcoming. We left our meet and greet feeling so at ease and comfortable with our decision to leave our 6 month old puppy Orzo for a full day. They’re very thorough in assessing and analyzing our pup’s needs. They were very interactive from the moment we walked through the door. She is very responsive upon reaching out and has an open line of communication throughout the time you’re fur baby is in their care. Orzo seemed so happy and was treated with so much love and affection that it warmed our hearts. We are so excited and comfortable to have found someone that we can trust for future stays. Thank you, Lisa and Joe! I’m sure wiggle butt Orzo will be excited to see you both again very soon.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Hawthorne commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 11,207 sitters in Hawthorne, 87% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
