I grew up with a Husky/German Shepard mix which gave me early experience with daily pet care, routines, and understanding dog behavior. I was lucky & got to be there when my former fur baby was born. Her mom let me massage her hips & tummy while in labor. It was her 1st litter & she was awesome!! She let me handle all 9 of the babies after she was done delivering so we could transfer all them to a clean bed & to help rotate at feeding time to ensure they all ate. All 9 survived & were healthy!! I was also a "doula" for my mom's cats pregnancy & she let me massage her tummy & handle her babies right away also. It's a blessing to see & be a part of.
