About: I’m an active, fit mom who would love to give your furry friend some quality attention, exercise and companionship. I have many years of experience in caring for both cats and dogs and look forward to hearing from you! I’m currently working part-time as a self-employed baker, so my availability is flexible between 8am-2pm on weekdays while my son is in preschool, with more open availability later in the afternoon and on the weekends. I also have an 18 month old who is in daycare twice a week, so he would be with me if need be. I will maintain consistent, honest communication with you to ensure your pet(s) routine and peace of mind in your home. I have many years of experience caring for all ages of cats and large dogs, and can administer meds if needed.

About: I’ve been doing a pet sitting for over three years, and this is now my third summer providing pet sitting in Hawaii. During this time, I’ve looked after cats and dogs with different personalities, routines, and needs, always making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. Animals have always been a part of my life. I grew up with both cats and dogs, so caring for them comes naturally to me. I’m definitely both a cat and a dog person, and I enjoy getting to know each pet’s unique personality. I also volunteered at an animal shelter, where I helped care for many animals and learned to be patient, attentive, and compassionate. Whether your pet loves to play, cuddle, or simply have a calm companion nearby, I’m happy to adapt to what makes them feel happiest. I treat every pet as if they were my own and always strive to create a calm, safe, and loving environment while you’re away. I work remotely, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to spend plenty of time with the pets in my care. Most of my work is done from home, so your pet will rarely be left alone for long periods. Outside of work, I enjoy being active and spending time outdoors, so I’m always happy to take dogs on walks, play with them, or simply keep them company. I also offer drop-in visits and house sitting, and I always do my best to maintain your pet’s usual routine so they feel comfortable and secure while you’re away. My schedule allows me to provide lots of attention, companionship, and loving care throughout the day. I currently provide pet care in my clients’ homes, where pets can stay comfortable in their familiar environment and keep their usual routine. I carefully follow each owner’s instructions, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications (if needed), and any special routines. I make sure pets receive plenty of attention, affection, and exercise while also respecting their individual personalities and boundaries. I also keep owners updated with regular messages and photos, so they can feel confident and connected while they’re away. My goal is for both you and your pet to feel relaxed, safe, and well cared for.

About: **I AM TRAVELING OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY STARTING 5/20/26 AND WILL BE BLOCKING MY CALENDAR TILL I KNOW I WILL RETURN. ** I travel off island often and can't have my own puppy family, so I will watch your fur-babies like they are my own! I enjoy the adventure of pup-sitting at homes all over the island. I work remotely so am able to be away from my place for long stretches of time. While I like to explore the local areas I stay in, I will mostly be snuggled up with your fur-babies typing away. I am a veteran with Rover- In fact I have been pet-sitting before Rover existed using Craigslist. I have a huge love for all animals and am very experienced with caring for different types of animals and breeds. I am patient, and gentle with a huge heart for animals. I understand every household has different culture. I always try and mimic all the rules of the home. Pets not allowed on the couch? no problem. Dogs like to sleep in the bed with owners? I am an expert puppy snugger. Perhaps the best. I will try and reinforce all commands and rules so there is a seamless transition upon your return. When dog-sitting in your home I will leave it better than I found it and happily respect boundaries and house rules. * My property is in Hilo but I am open to sitting at homes all over the island. In fact, I love to! I will text picture updates to my clients so they feel comforted that their sweetheart is being loved on. Why I love dog sitting: I had a Golden Retriever rescue for over 15 years till he passed 10 years ago. I travel a lot and didn't think it was fair to get another dog, but have been pet sitting since. I LOVE having dog energy still around... and the friendships I have made with my puppy parents. For my lifestyle it's the best of both worlds! I work remotely so am very flexible with my schedule and love having pets around to love on while exploring new and interesting locations on this beautiful island. My place is in Hilo but am open to doing pet sit stays all around the Big Island. Initial meeting can be done with a zoom call before meet and greet if too far from my area. I can also do house drop in visits if it coordinates with my location at the time needed. Right now I am primarily house sitting since my property does not have a fenced yard. I will match your schedule as best as possible and take care of your place the way you desire.

About: Aloha: My experience goes back to my childhood, where I helped my mother breed and raise Cocker Spaniel puppies. I have always owned animals, including cats during my college years, and our family has cared for goats, dogs, chickens, and rabbits. I am very comfortable with puppies and experienced in fostering their training process, committing to the consistency necessary for a dog's development. Furthermore, I have experience caring for elderly animals at the end of their life cycles, including administering medicine and providing extra care. I have also attended to animals with various injuries. My primary strength is maintaining consistent routines, which I believe is essential for helping an animal feel loved and safe. Regarding equine experience, I have basic ground work skills with horses and donkeys. As my children have been riding since age three, I have had many opportunities to groom, feed, clean hooves, and ensure there are no external injuries from the ground. I appreciate your time and consideration. Aloha:  Our ohana owns a 3-acre property on the Big Island, where we are blessed with three outdoor rescue cats, three rescue dogs, and two Nubian goats. As a dedicated mother and wife, caretaking is truly my blueprint. Caring for animals and providing house-sitting services for a "staycation" fits perfectly with my passion for animals. It also provides me with a wonderful opportunity to take some time for myself to relax and rejuvenate. I love to excercise walking dogs is my joy. I love to nurture and cuddle animals . I am a mama of 2o yrs thus I am always detail oriented regarding health. Our ohana is currently blessed with three rescue female dogs, three female outdoor rescue cats, and two Nubian goats. As they are a vital part of our family, they receive a high level of love and nurturing daily. My responsibilities and experience in caring for them include: - Daily Care: Managing daily feeding schedules and ensuring all animals are well-nourished. - Exercise and Training: Taking the dogs on regular walks around the neighborhood and maintaining up-to-date training. I have also personally trained our puppies. - Health and Wellness: Regularly checking all animals for health irregularities, administering natural medications when necessary, and staying current on goat vaccinations. - Goat Management: Grooming the goats, cleaning the barn, and providing them with nutrient-rich supplements. We take great pride in providing a healthy and loving environment for all our rescues. Please let me know if you need any further information.

FAQs for Dog Walking - Hakalau

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

Whether you want a solo or group walk depends on your dog's personality. Solo walks can be beneficial for dog parents with reactive dogs, puppies, or dogs who are anxious around unfamiliar animals. Many dog walkers on Rover offer private, one-on-one walking services.

Group walks are a good fit for social dogs who enjoy structured walks. If your dog prefers the energy of a group stroll, ask your dog walker about group walks in your Hakalau. Since all dog walkers are local, they may have a neighborhood dog who is a good walking companion to yours.

For dog walking bookings, your dog walker can send a Rover Card with details about your dog’s walk. Rover Cards require at least one photo and may include a map of the walking route , the total walk time and distance, and any pee or poop breaks recorded by the walker.

The route map lets you review where your dog was walked in Hakalau after the booking. It is not live GPS tracking.

Have specific details you would like included? Message your dog walker in the app before the walk begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every walker on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your walker interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and walker for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .

walkers on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement walker.
