Oda was anxious and reactive and responded well to Cheryl's calm and comforting manner. Part of the anxiousness Oda experienced resulted he her rubbing her nose into things until it was raw. Oda was so comfortable with Cheryl that Oda quit rubbing her nose and it actually began to heal. Cheryl definately provided the tender loving care that Oda needed to relax and start enjoying Hawaii. It's not everyone that will take on a large, active, and anxious dog. I highly recommend Cheryl for pet care and owner care. It was the first time I left Oda and she was very reassuring. “From when Shelby (4 month old crazy puppy) and I first met Sarah at our meet & great, Sarah seemed to be kind and a bit of a dog whisperer because Shelby instantly felt at home and started to get along with Sarah's little dog Toby. After the meet & great I was wondering if Sarah was going to accept Shelby but Sarah agreed to board Shelby and it almost seemed like she looked forward to us going on vacation. Sarah sent pictures and a video every day that we were gone and informed us how she was doing. She gave our little puppy carrots and sweet potato to help with her teething and we still practice that to this very day. It really helps with not having her chew up everything in the house. If anyone needs someone that is reliable, kind and just flat out knows what she is doing I highly recommend giving Sarah a chance. Trust me you won't be sorry! I work from home, so your pets will have company most of the day, every day. I'm usually home in the evenings as well, as that's when I do most of my writing. For housesits, I stay at the client's home full time — overnight and through most of the day — so pets maintain their normal routines as closely as possible. I follow whatever feeding schedules, rules, and habits the owner has established, and I ask detailed questions before a sit begins so there are no surprises. I treat every home I stay in with care and respect, leaving it in the same condition I found it. For drop-in visits, I arrive on schedule, spend quality time with the pet rather than rushing through, and send updates so owners know everything is going well. In either case I make sure animals have fresh water, are fed on schedule, get appropriate exercise and attention, and are never left alone longer than is comfortable for them. I'm attentive to changes in behavior or health and will contact the owner promptly if anything seems off.

Why I love dog sitting: I had a Golden Retriever rescue for over 15 years till he passed 10 years ago. I travel a lot and didn't think it was fair to get another dog, but have been pet sitting since. I LOVE having dog energy still around... and the friendships I have made with my puppy parents. For my lifestyle it's the best of both worlds! I work remotely so am very flexible with my schedule and love having pets around to love on while exploring new and interesting locations on this beautiful island. My place is in Hilo but am open to doing pet sit stays all around the Big Island. Initial meeting can be done with a zoom call before meet and greet if too far from my area. I can also do house drop in visits if it coordinates with my location at the time needed. Right now I am primarily house sitting since my property does not have a fenced yard. I will match your schedule as best as possible and take care of your place the way you desire.
