“Diandra was incredible! She was so communicative and so kind! She left our house in SPARKLING shape- I think it was cleaner when we got home than when we left! She swung with some annoyances too- our house lost power in 95 degree weather and I messed up our days off and asked literally the day before she was going to leave if she could spend an extra night. She was super easy going about both. I feel so lucky we found her and I will absolutely be booking with her again!”
“Amy was amazing with Axl. She took such great care of him and our house while we were away. Even fed the fish and watered our plants as needed. Would highly recommend Amy. Very professional and amazing with animals!”

“Lyle was great watching my dog Copper. Copper is a rescue who was neglected and abandoned, so new situations are usually an anxious time for him. Lyle was great at keeping his anxiety in check and taking care of him. It was hard to leave Copper for the first time since rescuing him, but Lyle was a great comfort. Thanks again.”

“Abby did a great job house sitting for our two pups for almost 2 weeks! She was very helpful with our husky who developed a last minute infection and communicated regularly. I would recommend Abby to anyone!”

“Chris took great care of my dog, as well as the house. He even went above and beyond doing stuff I never asked or expected him to, like picking up some dog poop that was there under the snow from before his scheduled time, taking the trash out, etc. But most importantly, Maggie seemed to really appreciate having him here while her family was gone. Will definitely use Chris again.”

“Brian did a great job for us while on a weeklong vacation. The house was in order and our dog was smiling when we arrived. Everything was smooth. We plan to use Brian again.”

“Tara was great watching our 6 month old kittens. They are very shy with new people. She was patient and gained their trust, she really went the extra mile! Highly recommend! Thank you Tara!”

“Milo is the first pet sitter we’ve had stay the weekend at our home to watch our 2 dogs and cat. We have an elderly dog with doggie dementia, a Staffy, and a 3-legged cat, so they can be a handful, but they all just loved Milo! Our Staffy warmed up to him right away, which isn’t always the case, in fact our Staffy sat in his lap and gave him kisses within minutes of meeting. We found our elderly dog was calm with him, which is unusual. The way our pets reacted to meeting Milo greatly diminished our anxiety of leaving them for the first time. Milo didn’t hesitate to ask questions and kept us up to date on our pets’ status. Upon return, our animals seemed calm, happy and healthy. We will definitely ask Milo to sit again when we go out of town. Milo has a natural gift with animals and the animals really connect to his energy. 10/10!”

“Renata is amazing with pets! She stayed at our home for two days to care for our dog Koa, our kitty Tiny, and our bunny. She did a great job, sent pictures and updates, and we enjoyed our trip knowing our fur babies were safe and cared for:) I highly recommend her. Thanks so much Renata🙏🥰”

“Michael made our pup with extreme separation anxiety feel comfortable. He obviously has a love of dogs and we are delighted to have found him. He was very punctual and communicated very well about arrival times and his availability. I would highly recommend him.”

About: I have four dogs of my own and experience caring for dogs, cats, and fish. I’m comfortable with different breeds and sizes, including Pit Bulls, and I’m not intimidated by larger dogs. I’m dependable, attentive, and comfortable caring for multiple pets at once. I do have other work throughout the week, but I’m able to work my schedule around pet sitting. I have plenty of flexibility for drop-ins, walks, and overnight stays and do my best to accommodate each pet’s normal routine. I care for pets in their own home where they’re comfortable and familiar with their surroundings. I follow all feeding, medication, walking, and household instructions closely and always prioritize your pet’s safety, routine, and comfort.
“Rikki was great. Super responsive and sent us lots of photos and updates. Also very conscientious about keeping our house tidy. She washed sheets and remade the bed and left the house in great shape. And our pup look d very content!”

“Judy provided great communication the entire trip and ensured my dog got the correct medications. She left the house clean and it gave me peace of mind knowing Judy was at home with my dog.”

“Denise was AMAZING! She was so patient with my shy senior Nikita. The two of them bonded much quicker than I had anticipated and it made me so happy to know that my pup was in good hands. I will definitely be booking with Denise again as she’s become a member of Nikita’s circle! Thank you big time Denise - you are truly incredible.”

About: Based in Belleville, MI - I started pet sitting for friends in 2021 while covid precautions were still in place, and since then I've helped many friends whenever they were heading out of town for a while. I've always had a knack for getting along with cats, dogs, and other animals, even those who are shy or aggressive at first. Your pet's needs are my priority. I will review all of your provided instructions with you so that I may ask questions and make sure we're on the same page. And, if anything ever seems wrong, I'll make sure you know immediately so that you can make informed decisions regarding your pet's care. I believe every pet has a good heart - they just need the right care and attention to let that shine through! I work part time on a pretty flexible schedule, so I can always make time for your animal companions! I specialize in keeping pets comfy and cared for so that you can rest easy on vacation :) I pay close attention to and respect both behavior and body language - this keeps everyone safe, and allows me to inform you right away if something requires your attention.
“Sarah was amazing! She stayed at our home while we were away and took as much care for our home as she did for our pup. She sent updates throughout the weekend and gave us a detailed recap as she was leaving. It was nice to not have to worry about anything, knowing Sarah was taking good care of everything. Highly recommend!!”

About: I started dog sitting in 2022 for a coworker at the time, and since then I now have 9 different families I regularly sit for. I have experience with a range of dogs (from Toy Aussies to German Shepherds) as well as cats, which I grew up with, and some experience with fish and birds. I love all kinds of animals and getting to know their individual quirks and personalities! I am primarily doing online classes for school and working part-time. My working schedule can be flexible with advanced notice so I can spend the most time with your pet(s)! Whatever is best for you and your pet is what I provide! I’ve cared for very high-maintenance dogs that need multiple walks a day, special diets, etc., as well as very chill dogs that just come in and out as they please and eat whenever they want. I’m very flexible to provide whatever care the pet requires!

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Green Oak
Leaving your pets with someone outside the family for the very first time is always nerve-wracking—especially when you have three large dogs who they’ve never met before. But from the moment Diandra stepped in, all our worries melted away. 1. Proactive & Prepared: She went above and beyond by taking the time to schedule a thorough meet-and-greet before our trip. This gave everyone a chance to get acquainted and instantly put us at ease. 2. Professional & Kind: Her demeanor is the perfect blend of warm, loving, and completely professional. You can instantly tell she is a true animal lover who knows how to handle large breeds with confidence and care (we even got to see pictures of her past dog!) 3. Fantastic Communication: Throughout our time away, she kept us wonderfully updated with regular messages and adorable photos. Knowing our dogs were happy, safe, and well-cared for allowed us to actually enjoy our trip. This was our first time trusting anyone outside of family with our dogs, and she set the bar impossibly high. We would 100% use her again in a heartbeat and wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for top-tier, loving pet care!

Our dogs absolutely loved Rhiannon, which says a lot because our little rescue usually takes a long time to warm up to new people. She has a special touch, and they trusted her almost immediately. She kept us updated with great communication and sent the sweetest photos while we were away. Knowing our dogs were so well cared for gave us complete peace of mind and allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our time away.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Green Oak walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Green Oak maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Green Oak choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Green Oak. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
