“Heather was really great. She is so nice. She came over and met my Husky's beforehand which went great. While we were away she sent photos which was really nice to see. Overall great experience with Heather would certainly work with her again”

“Simon was amazing: such a good communicator, great attention to detail, so caring. He updated us throughout the two day pet sitting with heart warming pictures and videos and stories of what our dog encountered on each walk. We’ll definitely ask Simon first the next sitting we need!”

“She was absolutely wonderful with our slightly difficult dog and our cat loved her as well . We felt at ease on our trip knowing that our pets and home were well taken care of. I highly recommend and we will definitely be using Elaina again for any future house pet/ house sitting.”

“Hailey did us a huge favor and did a last minute sit for a few nights. She had great communication, send picture updates, and left the house in great condition. Thanks again Hailey!”

“It was great to have someone as responsible and caring as Molly stay in my home for 5 days and care for my dog and water plants/bring in mail etc. I can highly recommend her! She left the house 🏡 in better condition than she found it as I was rushing out to catch an early flight. I received daily pictures and updates and she was proactive re any questions she had. We will book her again for sure!”

About: I have had a dog for 40 years, in addition to other pets. I love all animals (more than most people 😊) and I love spending time with them. In addition to owning pets, I have also volunteered for dog rescues. I have cared for friends’ animals as if they were my own. Currently, I am not working for the summer and have a very flexible schedule. I can carve out chunks of time to spend with animals to give them attention, food, and exercise. I will continue caring for animals in the same way that owners do in their household, following all rules, routines, and expectations. I am an active person and happy to take a dog for a walk or a run.
“Naomi was great to have watch our dog and 3 cats! Everybody was happy and content when we made it home and our house was nice and clean. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter.”

“DEFINITELY A STAR SITTER!!! Kasandra was phenomenal! She came to my home and sat for my dog--and agreed to take on a friend's dog, in a late edition, after she had already agreed to sit for my dog. The dogs were well taken care of, walked, given lots of attention. By all indications (daily updates and photos), they both really enjoyed her. I will absolutely request Kasandra again! I just hope she's not so busy that she's booked.😁”

“Isabel was amazing with my two very hyper dogs while I was out of town. She did a great job house & dog sitting for me. I appreciated the updates of the pups while I was gone. I would recommend her services & will definitely rebook.”

About: I grew up in rural Virginia, in a county bordering Shenandoah National Park. That area of Virginia is primarily known as being the horse capital of the country, and like every little girl, I fell in love with horses. In order to afford riding, I’d often trade farm work for time in the saddle; and so, I grew up surrounded by creatures great and small. Not only was I responsible for taking care of my family’s personal dogs and cats, but also the farm animals (in particular, 15+ horses at a time, farm dogs, and barn cats). My unique upbringing with horses and other animals has made me a versatile house sitter. Since I was 16 (5 years ago!), I have consistently been house sitting for families with dogs, cats, and horses. Moving to Burlington has brought me away from animals, as it is hard (nearly impossible) to care for a pet while being a full time student living in an apartment. Thus, I’ve joined rover in hopes of reconnecting with my four legged friends. I am happy to help care for your pets in whatever way you see fit! I love running, walking, hiking, or simply lounging, and am flexible to your pet’s needs. As an animal lover myself, I am committed to making sure your pet is happy and healthy! I work as a barista 4 days a week from roughly 7 or 9am (depending on my shift) to 3 or 5pm. My work schedule is usually planned a month in advance and any days that I am not working at the cafe I am available for dog walking or house sitting duties. In my free time, you can find me running, working out, reading, or painting. If your dog is an active creature, I would love to take them on runs or walks! If not, I am more that happy to care for them and keep them company while you’re away! I am not able to keep your pet at my apartment for extended periods of time due to my living situation with four roommates. However, I am more than happy to take them on adventures or visit your home to care for your pets!

“Beatrice was so sweet with our 2 little pups. They took to her right away, and when we returned, they seemed to be very comfortable with her! We will certainly reach out to her on our next visit to Burlington. Thanks!”

“Hayley is an absolute rockstar. We needed last minute pet sitting for our wedding and Hayley saved the day! Hayley is extremely courteous and thoughtful with the needs of our pets and our home. We enjoyed her consistent and reliable communication and cute cat and puppy pics throughout her stay. They made us feel at ease and helped us focus on our big day! 10/10 will be booking Hayley again in the future.”

About: I am a recently retired school administrator of almost 30 years! I have 2 adorable labs of my own, I am on the board of a non-profit that breeds, trains and places therapy dogs in schools, and I have always wanted to retire and play with puppies! I am so excited to love on your dog like I do my own! My husband and I recently moved to South Hero. I am retired, so my schedule can be flexible to meet your pup's needs! I am looking to meet your pet's needs. I can do walks or visits during the day. I will follow your lead and carry out whatever requests you have. I will also keep you posted about the our time together, how it went and will send you pictures! My goal is to keep you and your fur baby happy and healthy!

About: I put animal care first before my own needs and strongly believe that they should be treated with just as much respect and dignity as a human being I have a special needs son and I cannot work during the day due to his needs and I love animals They are very therapeutic. Treat others pets as if they were my own pets loved and cared for I actually believe that are poor legged animals are our kids
About: I have been working with animals for the last ten years. Started working in dog daycares and moved my way up to vet medicine where i now am a vet technician. I am patient and understanding to all pets personalities and ages. I am currently working 3 days a week on a specialty service at a veterinary hospital. My weekends are typically free and I would love to fill the time with your furry loved ones. Will be very respectful of your home and make giving your sweet boy or girl my devoted attention. Back yard fence in play is great but leash walks are also great!
“We had a wonderful experience with Shannon! She followed our directions perfectly, making sure our dog felt comfortable and cared for. She even gave him lots of cuddles, which he loved. We found her to be reliable and trustworthy, and it was great to know our dog was in such good hands. Highly recommend!”

“Christine did a wonderful job sitting my pups at my home! She was communicative during the booking process and during the entire duration of the job. My pups were well taken care of, with plenty of snuggles. She was great with the medications they needed and helped get some skin areas healed up. Definitely recommend.”

About: I’ve loved animals my entire life and would love to be a companion for your pets! Young to senior, low to high energy I’m there! I also have experience with reactive dogs, as my girl Olive is still finding her confidence as a previous stray and working on her leash reactivity! I work full time as a registered nurse and have every Monday off and then every other week off. I’m pretty flexible! Let me know what you need! Although I can’t care for your pets in my home, I can offer dog-walking, drop in playtime/hangouts, enrichment games and even take your pup hiking if you’d like!
About: My family grew up with dogs and cats; the animals are treated as family. Pet sitting (and baby sitting) were part of the routine from early on. My Consulting work is done remotely, which makes my schedule flexible for Rover assignments, and, additionally leaves ample Time for getting out on the trails with tails. I enjoy being out-of-doors, and hope that some time outside is part of your furriends’ daily care plan. I believe in sticking to the schedule that clients have established with their animals for meals, toileting, play time and quiet rest.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Grand Isle on Rover is $32.1 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Grand Isle walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Grand Isle maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Grand Isle choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
