“Jessica did an amazing job taking care of my cat Opie. He's a pandemic baby and I work remotely, so he is used to someone being around most of the time, he's spoiled and requires spoiling. Jessica stayed at my apartment with Opie, communicated with me, sent me pictures. She also went above and beyond, she stripped the bed, washed the sheets, took my regular trash and Opie's litter box trash to the dumpster, none of which did I ask her to do. I was very happy and lucky to have someone who cared that much.”

“I used Jessica for the first time and couldn’t be happier with the experience of her staying in our home and caring for Wrigley! From the start, communication was clear, timely, and reassuring. It’s never easy leaving your dog with someone new, but Jessica made me feel completely comfortable. Wrigley was well cared for, happy, and clearly got lots of attention and love while away. I really appreciated the updates and photos—it made all the difference knowing everything was going so well. I’ll absolutely be using Jessica again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring dog sitter!”

About: I have always loved dogs growing up and playing with them brings me a sense of joy. I have dogs of my own and I always make sure that they are loved and cared for I currently work as a receptionist part time, so I’m free anytime to love, play, and take care of your pets whenever it’s necessary for you! At my home we have an electric fence, but we also have leashes for our dogs and others friends incase we have company over there
“Kathy watched our dogs over 4th of July weekend and did a wonderful job taking care of them and managing their anxiety. She kept me updated all weekend and left our house in great shape. We will absolutely be booking with her again in the future!”

“Great having Saige as my first sitter! We met at a Starbucks to do a meet and greet and I instantly felt comfortable. Scary bringing a stranger into your home these days, so I was thankful she was open to answering any questions and wanted me to feel comfortable. Days later, I then had Saige come to my home to meet my cat and see the space to ensure she would also be comfortable sitting at my home. She petsitted or pet sat(?) lol, for 4 days and there’s hardly a hint that she was ever here - meaning she left the place as she found it and didn’t leave a mess or anything. I don’t think my kitty ever got super used to having a stranger in her home but that’s not Saige’s fault. My kitty is just super shy and takes a while to warm up to strangers. I just asked that Saige respect her boundaries and space and I believe she did that! My kitty is almost 16 years old and I just really wanted that reassurance of having someone around more often than just bopping in for 15 mins a day - so I’m thankful for finding this service and the sitting going smoothly! Would book Saige again!”

“Excellent sitter for my 8 year old and 2 1 year old Rottweiler puppies. Mya is a loving and compassionate person. She followed my special instructions to the tee and was especially great with my youngest puppy with epilepsy as one of the 7 dogs in her own household also has epilepsy. I couldn't have asked for a better person than Mya for my last minute booking while I had surgery. Will definitely use her repeatedly! Highly recommend.”

“Baleigh took fantastic care of our four-legged daughter while we were out of town. Asked all the right questions about her care, watched the house while we were away, was clean neat professional, fantastic communication. Will definitely be booking with her again in the future. I highly recommend Baleigh for all your pet and house sitting needs!!!”

About: I’ve done overnight pet and house sitting for several years and different clients, as well as drop/in visits to feed, care, and keep pets company while owners are away. I work a full time day job during the week and am free most evenings and weekends. I work my day job the first Saturday of every month. I have a fenced in yard and have experience with crated and non-crated situations. The physical and emotional wellbeing of your pet is of the utmost importance.
“Pamela was great! She was responsive via text and left the house in perfect shape. We felt reassured knowing our pups were in good hands while we were away for a whole week!”

“Mary did a great job caring for our dogs while we were out of town. We will definitely be using her again and appreciate her help especially at last minute. Thank you Mary!!”

About: I love all animals. I’ve primarily had rescue cats & dogs and wish I could save them all. I’ve bottle fed abandoned kittens and rescued pregnant cats. I have experience with an abandoned, abused and anxious dog who needed patience and compassion on a daily basis. I’ve taken care of a variety of dogs from tiny chihuahua’s to large labradors & Dobermans. Each one with a personality all their own. I’m retired and I’m looking for a meaningful way to fill my days. I’m available most of the time, although I do love traveling when I can. I will follow every instruction you have in order to provide exceptional care for your pet in your home. My Rover reputation is based on you & your pets happiness!
About: I've been caring for cats since l was about about 6 or 7 years old. After I lost my oldest cat Sailym at 17, I've decided I wanted to continue helping others with their pets while they travel and give them a peace of mind like I had during my trips to Spain in college. The past few years I have dedicated some of my free time to help a few family and friends with their other dogs and cats while they take long travels at a country. I currently work full time but am free throughout the entire weekend which is why I prefer cats. I am able to stay overnight at places as long as I can commute to and from my own office as well as drop by my house to see my cats too. My house are currently has one to two dedicated rooms just for pets that includes cat trees, extra litter boxes and places to play, as well as toys. This allows an easy transition if they need to be separated from my own animals or they need some time to decompress.

“Jodi was an excellent sitter! She kept us informed with photos and info about our pets. I knew they were getting lots of attention and being well taken care of. She stayed in our house while we were away, and she left it tidy. I highly recommend her!”

About: I've been pet sitting for about three years now and animals are my whole life. I love big dogs and grew up constantly around Great Danes and Mastiffs. I've also raised three puppies over the years and been involved in basic care, walking, playing, and potty training. I'm getting certified in dog grooming starting in August, so I'm available for a large amount of time over the summer! Currently, I'm looking to pet sit full time! I am available on almost any day of the week (and weekend!) and can come at any time needed during this summer. I will always make sure your fur babies are fed, have water at all times, get any specific meds (if needed), are played with as much as possible, and are plenty loved! I will treat your animals as if they were my own, making sure they are consistently happy and healthy. I also strive to make your return back home as stress-free as possible and often vacuum, wipe down surfaces, and tidy up before leaving!
The median cost per night for house sitting in Grain Valley is $45
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Grain Valley
This was our first time using Rover, and Emma made us feel at ease with our meet and greet, and overall process. She was reliable, our dogs seemed to love her, and she was very communicative. We will definitely try and book her again in the future. Thank you, Emma!

Emma has now watched our “zoo” twice while we’ve been out of town and she has done a great job both times! We fully plan to continue using her for all future needs, as long as she’s available. And we would highly recommend her to anyone else, especially those with lots of pets.
Gabriela was wonderful! Her response time was very prompt from the beginning. She sent many pictures while we were away and followed instructions for our pup’s care to a T! We also came home to find the house just the way we left it. Would definitely recommend her and reach out again if we are ever in need of care for our sweet Mabel!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Grain Valley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Grain Valley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Grain Valley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Grain Valley. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
