Once again, Troy did a fantastic job of dog sitting for our golden retriever, Dory, in our home, while my wife and I were away for a long weekend.

Julia was literally a lifesaver! Our original dog sitter had to cancel last minute, which meant we suddenly had to find a new sitter… let’s just say the stress was HIGH!!! 😫 We hopped on Rover and started scrolling through our options, and Julia was one of our top choices. I clicked on her profile, really liked what I saw, and the reviews she had were definitely a plus. I figured it was worth a shot to reach out and see if she happened to be available on such short notice. Within seconds, she responded and said she was available! Instant relief! 🙌🏼 Julia was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. She was very communicative while we were gone, sent us pictures of Luna, and was always quick to respond whenever we reached out. And as an added bonus, we came home to a house that looked exactly the way we left it and a very happy, well-cared-for pup. 🐶❤️ I highly recommend Julia to anyone looking for someone they can trust with their fur babies! We will definitely be booking her again! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amie is phenomenal!! She really stepped up for us this past week when we were on vacation, she went above and beyond. Our house was badly hit with storms and she kept the pets and home safe. She’s not just your standard sitter, she’s so much more than that. We’re beyond blessed that she came into our lives and was able to take care of our fur babies for us. Took great care of our home, even cleaned out the fridge from losing power, ended up injuring her own knee on Mudd but didn’t skip a beat. Our puppy hadn’t been through storms yet and come to find out he absolutely hates them, she made him feel so comfortable. The communication was outstanding!! We will be using her without a doubt for all future trips. Thank you Amie from the bottom of our hearts!

Dwayne took care of my crew while attending to family business in another state. It was clear from the start what a great animal lover he is as my big dog immediately wanted to be besties. He got my little guys to warm up to him and sent lots of pics of them smiling. He was attentive in every way. He’s a terrific human and clearly takes great pride in his services. I would highly recommend him and will definitely be contacting Dwayne again for future needs. Do not hesitate to book with Dwayne!

Vanya is incredible!! Our dogs fell absolutely in love with her. She sent many pictures and videos and we could tell the dogs were having a blast playing with her each day. She went above and beyond by cleaning the house and giving one of our dogs a bath (it's so nice coming from vacation to a clean house!). Honestly the best dog sitter experience ever - we plan to be a repeat customer. Don't think twice about booking Vanya, you will not be disappointed! I can't say enough good things about our experience!

About: I pay close attention to each dog’s unique personality and needs — from high-energy adventurers who love long walks to gentle souls who just want cuddles and calm company. You can count on me for dependable communication, updates, and plenty of photos so you always feel connected and at ease. I’m currently working part time as a babysitter so my schedule is quite flexible. Tuesdays are taken up but outside of that I’m very flexible! I have a dog friendly home with an open back yard. All dogs will be leashed at all times whether in your home or mine. Dogs in my home are dog friendly as well!

Polly was absolutely fantastic. She sent us photos and notes everyday which really helped our anxiety leaving him. When we came home we new right away that Chester loved her. She played with him, gave him his medicine, and even bought him a few toys. Exceptional care. This is the first time we used Rover and wish I had found out about it before! We hate leaving him behind when we travel, but knowing that we now have Polly to rely on, it makes is so much better. My only concern is now everyone will want to book her and then she is not available for us. We could not have asked for better care for our gentle giant.

About: I've had dogs for as long as I can remember. My dad used to help help run a rescue for several years, and we had many dogs of varying breeds and ages in our home. I currently have one dog named Alvin who was born in 2022. He is a yellow lab with a lot of energy! I am venturing into the working world, and this is my only role. My availability is wide open and I'm willing to help when needed! I have a small fenced in area under our deck where my dog relieves himself. I go for walks and there is a dog park very close to the house. My dog has extreme crate anxiety, so he isn't created. I am comfortable helping to ensure your pet is created as necessary.

About: Animals have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Over the years, I've been lucky to parent dogs, cats, and horses, including two retired racing Greyhounds and a tuxedo cat who made me a certified cat person. Beyond my own, I've been caring for pets professionally (i.e., beyond friends and family) for more than 15 years, and after taking some time away while completing my PhD and living abroad, I'm excited to be back doing something I've always loved. In 2011, I started walking pups professionally in Chicago as a side gig during my breaks from tour managing for a band, which quickly turned into my dog-walking clients asking me to stay in their home with their pets while they were away. Over the span of just a few years, I built relationships with more than 30 clients, with most of them turning into repeat (and repeat and repeat!) clients. I've cared for dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, and temperaments, from tiny Yorkies to Great Danes and everything in between. I've also worked with many pets that required extra patience or specialized care. I've cared for senior pets, dogs < 1yo, a blind Australian Cattle Dog, a deaf cat, highly anxious and stranger-wary dogs, VERY stranger-wary cats, a Beagle with a seizure disorder, and pets receiving medication. I've also been the go-to sitter for a couple of families going through difficult times with their critters, including caring for their pets with terminal illnesses during their final days (both a black lab named Maggie and the sweetest deaf black cat named Sam) . Over the years, I've handled a few very unexpected situations as well. Whether it's a medical event requiring an unexpected trip to the veterinarian or even arriving to a cat drop-in visit to find that the apartment had experienced a break-in (in my Chicago days, which included working with police and gathering the terrified cats from the apartment stairwell), I've stayed calm, communicated clearly, and focused on keeping the critters safe and the clients informed. There have also been several occasions where I've extended my stay last-minute due to a client's canceled flight or interrupted travel plans. One of the biggest differences between my prior pet sitting days and now is my flexibility due to my remote work. When I pet sat extensively throughout Chicago, my tour managing days had ended and I worked a full-time 9-5 downtown. This was fine for my clients, as they had a similar schedule. But I now work fully remotely, so I have a highly flexible schedule that allows me to spend much more time with your pets throughout the day than I could years ago. I essentially do my best to work around your pet's normal routine. I'm happy to accommodate early mornings, evenings, or midday visits whenever possible. My goal is to make life feel as normal and stress-free as possible for your pets while you're away. When I'm in your home, I treat it with the same respect I'd expect someone to show mine, as I've also hired pet sitters over the years for my own critters. I follow your instructions (the more the better!), keep you updated with photos (lots!) and messages, and make sure your pets receive the same routines, rules, and attention they're used to (e.g., their feeding schedules, medications, favorite walking routes, cuddle time, or simply keeping them company).

Connor stayed for 10 days with our large friendly dog and three cats. He did a fantastic job. Iur animals are admittedly a bit spoiled but Connor made sure that he understood their needs and took very good care of them. They were all relaxed and clearly liked him by the way they interacted with him even after we got home. He sent a nice photo and check in to us every day of our trip and made sure to ask questions and permissions about the pets’ care. We usually only leave our pets with family so this was a big deal for us. We will definitely use Connor in the future!

FAQs for House Sitting - Glendale

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 388 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Glendale. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Glendale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Glendale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Glendale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Glendale. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
