“Michelle was awesome. She sent photos every day and answered any questions I had. Zoey was happy and healthy when I picked her up. It was Zoey's first three-night stay away from home and it went very well!”

“As a first time user of Rover and first time search for a cat sitter, Elena definitely set the standard. From the first contact, Elena was incredibly responsive, very kind, and extremely welcoming of my babies. Elena and her children took such good care of my babies, as they allowed them space to adjust while being open to their affection as they warmed up. I had peace of mind that my babies were in good hands as she invited them into her home with open arms. When I picked Pocket and Rocket up, they were so soft from freshly brushed hair and calmer to get back into the car. I would absolutely recommend Elena to take care of your cats, as they will get plenty of cuddles, play time, and freedom to explore their new space. Thank you, Elena and kids!!”

“Kimberly and her family were fantastic. My dog seemed super happy during her stay. I received a photo and note every night. I will definitely be booking with them in the future.”

“I don't know if I can sing her praises loud enough, but I'll try :o) Marliez has been watching our sweet boy Racha, every Saturday for over the past 6 months. Our furball absolutely Loves her and her furbabies. She does so many fun things with him, not only several walks a day, but playing in the doggie fields, leash free and even doggie Pool parties, which Racha LOVED. She sends pictures all the time, which warms my heart. RECENTLY, Marliez watched our Racha while we were out of town. She kept him for a week and every day we would get pics. We could see our baby playing, and napping and eating, just loving life. (I was afraid he might not want to come home he was having such a good time ) Marliez is truly wonderful and a special person when it comes to our pets. I Highly Recommend Marliez, you will not find another person that will love your dog like its her own. We All Love her”

“Benjamin is an excellent dog sitter! We could really tell he cared about our dog Chewy. He has a lovely home in a nice quiet neighborhood with plenty of outdoors space for our dogs. Chewy looked really happy during his stay and didn’t give us any attitude after his pickup.”

“Janice and Stalio took amazing care of our dog Charlie! Couldn’t be happier with the experience and they were exceptionally understanding when our return flight was cancelled due to the winter storm and we were delayed coming home. Would highly recommend.”

“Kendall and her family helped me in a bind and proved to be reliable, friendly and incredibly welcoming to my dog, Shoto. I’d highly recommend her for anyone who needs pet sitting, and I’d definitely book her again.”

“Theresa was a great sitter for Nik. She sent daily updates, not overwhelming, just enough to let us know Nik was happy and enjoying himself. I will definitely be using her services again. I know my pup is in good hands. Thanks Theresa!”

“Katie did a wonderful job watching Frankie for us for a long weekend! She sent regular pictures and updates and we could tell Frankie was very happy at Katie's. Would absolutely recommend Katie for any future boarding needs!”

“Anthony did a fantastic job sitting for our pup! His communication was top-notch, and he kept us updated throughout the entire stay with photos and check-ins. Everything went super smoothly, and we couldn't be happier with the overall service. Highly recommend Anthony to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!”

“Brittany and Shane were wonderful with Finch. They were attentive to her needs. They were quick to give me updates. Finch clearly enjoyed them, because I got pics of her snuggling in their laps. Would definitely book again.”
“Crystal did an absolutely amazing job watching Rocky while I flew to Atlanta to get married and be on my honeymoon. She made him feel safe, comfortable, and right at home, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. It was clear that Rocky was well cared for and genuinely enjoyed his time with her. I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter, and I will definitely be rebooking Crystal in the future. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and dependable to take care of their pet!”

“Robin provided excellent care for my dog Milo. This was my first time leaving Milo in someone else’s care other than family and friends and I was nervous and anxious. Robin sent videos and pictures and Milo was having a great time in her care. Robin only cares for small dogs which I like because I have a Yorkie. She has a dog that looks like my last dog that I had for 14 years. Robin is experienced in caring for dogs as shown by observation of her interaction with Milo and by questions and written information she requested regarding Milo’s health issue. I will definitely have Robin care for Milo again!”

“Liz and Jeffrey took very good care of our dog while we were gone for 10 days. We received daily updates with pictures and our dog loved to play and hang out with their dogs. We will for sure be back for future dog sitting and maybe also some day care. Thanks a lot Liz and Jeffrey for taking good care of Mayla!”

“I highly recommend Donna and Brain! They were reliable, caring, and accommodated me with short notice. My pet is well cared for, comfortable, and received plenty of attention. Knowing my pet is in such good hands gives me complete peace of mind. I will definitely book with them again and would recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate pet sitter.”

“She took such great care of our dog we had no worries at all while we were away. Also she sent us great photo updates, and great communication- very kind and easy drop off and pick up.”

“Had to go out of town for the weekend and left my little dog with Felice and Tyler. They have a nice fenced yard and dog friendly house which is great. You can tell they love dogs and are very knowledgeable about them. My dog, Sophie, is not used to being around other dogs so I was worried she would not fit in, but it was unfounded. We had a meet and great a couple weeks beforehand so she met their dog and sniffed around the backyard. I got periodic updates and photos, which was reassuring. I will definitely take her there in the future.”

“Jessica was awesome. She took great care of my baby Paris. She kept in contact with this nervous dog mom and made me feel at ease. Will definitely book with her again.”

“We were pleased that Alicia was able to accommodate us in very short notice. Our dog Eli, although rambunctious, really made himself at home in her home. We enjoyed our updates through pictures and videos throughout his stay. Thanks for everything!”

Michelle was a great dog sitter for Spencer. She provided daily updates with photos and comments. I felt at ease and confident that Spencer was well cared for while I was away. Michelle was excellent with communication and always responded in a timely manner with me. I would recommend her highly and will use her as a dog sitter in the future.

This was Tibs’ second time staying with Keerin and her family and he had a great if not better time than the first! Keerin has such a happy home and our boy got tons of love from her, her family, and their dog, Boomer. They sent plenty of happy picture updates. They treat Tibs like family and he loves staying with them! I would recommend them to anyone.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Gibson Island home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Gibson Island.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Gibson Island sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
