“Tonya took excellent care of our two elderly dogs. I think they barely missed us when we were gone because they got all of the pets and cuddles they could ask for. She took excellent care of the house and handled our excessive amount of deliveries with care. She kept us regularly updated with status updates and photos. Highly recommend.”

“Tera watched my dog and cat for a few days while on vacation. It gave me such peace of mind knowing they were in her care. She was very communicative and gave lots of love to my animals in my absence. Would recommend her to anyone! Will certainly be using her again in the future. Thanks tera!”

“Crystal was fantastic with our Tuco and he was so happy in his update pictures. This was our first time leaving him in the care of someone else and Crystal was perfect. We can tell Tuco already misses his friends and we will absolutely book Crystal again!”

“Natalie did a fabulous job caring for our two big dogs while we were out of town. Her communication is awesome, she asks great questions, keeps us informed and updated on our boys, and left the house clean. We felt comfortable knowing she was there and will put her at the top of the list for rebooking the next time we travel. Our pups were happy and content. Thank you Natalie!”

About: I've taken care of all types of dogs over the years- German Shepherds to small dogs. Provided medications as needed. Ensured routines were maintained and treat them as I would my own. I'm available most days of the week as I work from home. I'm flexible so message me and I'm sure we can work something out. I have a fenced green space that is pet friendly. My dog gets along well with other dogs as long as they are calm and friendly.
“Alison and her little one Cassidy were perfect caregivers for my Lily. They stayed at my home and made sure she went on plenty of walks, and kept up with her relentless energy playing with toys. I was provided with plenty of photos and updates while I was away. Couldn’t be more thankful for the help over the holiday while I was gone.”

“Awesome! Anna was on time so I could make it to my early morning meeting! She walked the dogs and had fun adventures. By the time I was home from my in person call, the dogs were pooped and they had expended their energy having fun and enjoying their day with Anna. I will definitely be booking her again.”

“Patricia was absolutely wonderful and I hope we can work with her again in the future! We had a bad past experience with a sitter and Patricia made my wife and I gain faith in this service again! Do not hesitate to book her, pretty sure some of our pets really missed her after just 1 week! She even left us flowers when she left!”

“I’m absolute delight and really wonderful with nervous dogs. She knows how to handle all different types of personalities and will build their their trust within no time. An absolute wonder and we will definitely ask for her help again in the future.”

“Miss Holly was amazing with our animals, they were very well taken care of. Everything was exactly as we left it upon our return. I would definitely recommend her and would use her again if the need arises.”

About: Since the day I came home from the hospital dogs, cats, and pets have been in my life. From having a German shepherd as a big brother as a baby, to growing up with Rottweilers, cats, and a couple reptiles throughout my childhood, to Pitbulls and Staffies as an adult. I've grown up loving, taking care of, and training puppies and rescue dogs longer than I can remember. I'm comfortable with pretty much all animals! One of my favorite parts about owning "aggressive" or "bully" breed dogs is creating a strong bond&trust and working with their training. Not only is it rewarding to see their progress and be able to change some people's perception and show them even the "scary" dogs can be as much of a big gentle lover as any other. So big or small, your pets are in good hands! I currently work a full time 9-5 but I'm looking to add a job to the end of the day after I get off work Outdoor: -Walking or playing outside for exercise, bathroom breaks, or mental stimulation Indoor: -Play time, changing or cleaning pads or catboxes or trying to work with them as needed by the client
“Trisha is a terrific dogsitter/house sitter. Our two small mini poodles were happy as clams when we got home, but they weren't needy which indicated that they received a lot of love and attention while we were gone. We received several messages and pics of our pups during the course of Trisha's stay. And, our house was spotless when we arrived. You couldn't ask for a better person to take care of your dogs and/or house.”

“Jordan watched our fur babies in our home for 11 days. She did an amazing job. The babies were well taken care of as was our home. She returned the home to ready status by doing the bed laundry and leaving no trace. But, the most important was the care and love our wee ones received. I can tell they took to her and were comfortable and at peace while we were away. Knowing that brought great comfort. Thank you Jordan. We really appreciate you.”

Geo is an absolute rock star! I was nervous to leave my 2 kitties for a recent trip to Oregon but Geovani turned out to be a real cat whisperer! My 12 yr old tortie is a real scaredy cat but in a matter of hours she came out of hiding and hung out with him in the living room. He played with the 2 year old male and managed to keep the peace between the 2 cats! He medicated and fed them as directed and thoroughly and regularly cleaned the litter boxes. He even watered the flowers on my balcony for me. My apartment was immaculate when I returned and the cats acted as though I had never left. Geo will definitely be my go-to for future house sitting and cat care!

Nikki did a wonderful job taking care of our dogs, Reuben and Frank! She was great with them, kept us updated with excellent communication, and sent us pictures while we were away, which we really appreciated. We came home to happy dogs and a clean, tidy house. We would absolutely recommend Nikki and would gladly have her watch Reuben and Frank again!

We’re so grateful for the amazing care she provided for our dogs. She followed all of our instructions perfectly and kept us updated throughout the stay. Our dogs looked so relaxed and happy with her. She was gentle, patient, and truly treated them like her own. We would absolutely book with her again!

Aurora is FANTASTIC. Our pooch was pamper and well cared for and the daily updates were thoughtful and appreciated. Our home was left in exceptional condition and she went above and beyond with extra walks and attention for our dog. We will absolutely book Aurora again.

We are first time cat owners. Our guy is just 10 months old, and this trip to help deal with some elderly parent issues in Florida was the first time we’ve traveled since getting our cat. We were very nervous. Luckily, we found Camille and she was available. We could not be happier. Excellent communication, lots of pics and videos of our guy, and she went above and beyond for us many times throughout the week. By the end of the first day, we knew Ulrich was in excellent hands and we’d made the right choice. I want to tell you that Camille is awesome, we are thrilled with her performance as a sitter, and that we think our cat now officially has an aunt, but I also kind of want to keep quiet about it, because I don’t want her to be booked solid the next time we need her. :P And there will be a next time. She’s fantastic. Hire her.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Getchell walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Getchell maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Getchell choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Getchell. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
