About: I have years of first hand experience taking care of dogs. I have two labs of my own, Remington (12 year old charcoal) and Gunner (3 year old yellow). Pet care is already a natural part of my routine. As the owner of two labs, my days already include feedings, walks, tummy rubs and companionship. With my background in Law Enforcement, you will have reliability, dependability, observation, safety consciousness and attention to detail, when it comes to your loved pets.

About: I socialized and walked shelter dogs for 5 years, fostered kittens for 3 years, and fostered squirrels for 2 years. From childhood, I was an animal rescuer, domestic and wildlife. I’ve had my dog 9 years and have had many wonderful cats, a rabbit and a bearded dragon. I offer care for any animal species. I have a very flexible schedule with most hours available. I can visit up to 3 times per day, and most likely stay as long as you’d like. I can also do up to 3 walks per day also. I can probably arrange to keep your dog-walking and pet-feeding schedules. I closely follow your directions, and let shy and fearful animals choose when to interact. I clean any messes asap, ensure clean water is available, and give your pet as much attention (play, pets, talking, walking, love) as they want for the time we schedule. At my home, pets may roam inside where they desire. Outside, dogs will be leashed. I can separate your and my dog if helpful. My gentle dog isn’t interested in cats. He has peacefully shared me and our home with 4 cats, 3 dogs, and and a bearded dragon.
“Ashley did a great job communicating before and after her visits. The pictures and written updates she sent were reassuring that she followed care directions and met the needs of my pups. They seemed happy and well taken care of.”

“Rylee has been such a blessing to help with my new rescue dog, Holden. He is happy to walk or play with Rylee. She is helping Holden learn more manners while walking. Rylee is prompt, sweet and really has a passion for helping animals. We feel grateful for her checking in on Holden while I work a 10 hour shift.”

“Sharon was fantastic!! We are new to the area and needing to find someone to watch our furbabes while we were away. She answered all of my many questions and was so patient and kind. Our dogs loved her and were so spoiled when we got home!! We couldn't be happier and will 100% use her again! Highly recommend!!”
“They were patient with us even though we forgot to give them the door code before they arrived, and they stayed longer than we booked to make sure everyone was happy and comfortable! Will definitely book again”

“Jessika is so great with Beau! He's always entertained, loved and spoiled with her. She gives him little massages which puts him right to sleep! Definitely would recommend her for your pet needs.”

About: I have previously volunteered at a rescue for 10 years. I have fostered many animals for the rescue and kept some of those as well. I can handle almost anything. I've also had my fair share of special needs animals, so I'm comfortable handling pets whose needs are out of the ordinary. I've also worked with and owned most types of animals ranging from a few weeks old to 20+ years, so I can provide care to very young or very old animals. I just graduated college and am currently between jobs, so I am at home working on my fixer-upper apartment all day. My schedule is entirely flexible! I will be available almost all waking hours of the day. I can stop in on your schedule to provide care and walks, or just stay over to give the pets round the clock care. I will make sure that your pet stays happy and healthy while in my care!
About: Reliable, Compassionate Care from Someone Who Truly Gets It As a pet parent myself, especially to a senior dog who needs a gentler pace and extra attention, I understand how important it is to have a sitter who treats your dog like family. That personal experience shapes the way I walk, support, and connect with every dog in my care. Puppy Training Support — I reinforce basic commands, leash manners, and positive behaviors to help young dogs build confidence. Senior Dog Expertise — Caring for my own senior dog has taught me how to adjust pacing, provide joint‑friendly routes, manage medications, and offer the calm reassurance older pups need. Behavior‑Sensitive Handling — I’m patient with shy, anxious, or reactive dogs and use gentle techniques to help them feel secure. Safety‑First Approach — Harness checks, safe routes, and attentive supervision are always part of my routine. Consistent Communication — You’ll receive updates, photos, and notes after every walk so you always know how your dog is doing. Pet care fits naturally into my weekly routine because I already structure my days around caring for my own senior dog. I’m used to planning walks, medication reminders, feeding times, and calm downtime, so integrating additional pet visits is a seamless part of my day. I offer flexible scheduling with dedicated blocks set aside for morning, midday, and early‑evening walks. This helps ensure your dog receives consistent attention without rushed visits or unpredictable timing. Because I maintain a steady routine at home, I’m able to provide: Reliable daily availability — Morning and midday walks are part of my everyday rhythm, making it easy to accommodate regular clients. Structured weekly planning — I map out my schedule in advance so each pet gets focused, unrushed care. Consistency for senior dogs — My experience caring for my own senior dog means I understand how important predictable routines are for older pups. Flexibility for busy owners — I can adjust visit times within reasonable windows to match your workday or travel plans. Dedicated attention — I never overbook; each walk or visit is scheduled with enough time to give your dog the calm, patient care they deserve. Routine consistency — I follow your feeding, walking, and medication schedule exactly as you outline it. Secure entry & exit — Doors, gates, and harnesses are double‑checked before every walk. Calm, respectful presence — I move slowly, speak gently, and let your dog approach at their comfort level. Clean, tidy care — Water bowls are refreshed, messes are cleaned promptly, and your home is left exactly as I found it. Photo updates — You’ll receive notes and pictures so you always know how your dog is doing.
About: I have three fur babies, golden retriever x2, and a blue heeler mix. Having animals is such pure joy. The dogs run the home, I just live here! Dog hair and slobbery kisses … I wouldn’t want it any different. My fur babies are happy and very generous to other animals. We have fun here. So bring your dog over, let them jump on the couch, and play with my pups! I work part time, but have a very flexible schedule. I have two boys at home that would give your pups all the love they need. I have a small fenced in yard for your pups. We enjoy talking walks, and playing fetch. My fur babies are the sweetest things and will get along with your pups!
“Nidia was incredible!!! She went above and beyond to take care of my dogs. I didnt worry for a second while I was gone about them because of her communication, kindness, and thoroughness. Highly recommend Nidia!!!! The dogs loved her!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
