“Laura watched our dog at our home while we were away for a few days. She did an excellent job with our dog and treated our home with respect. We will definitely reach out in the future when we can't bring our pup on trips! Highly recommend Laura”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Paige is the first sitter we hire through this app. And the experience couldn’t have been easier. She came to the house to meet Toby a few days before the actual sitting and it was great, in general he is afraid of other people and has Separation Anxiety, but with her he was all happy and playful. On the sitting day she arrived on time, and took the time to go over the care details for Toby and he continued his regular routine. Additionally, she spent time playing with him throughout the day. Toby really liked spending time with her and it was like we had never left the house. She is a great sitter and we will be hiring her again.”

“I couldn’t have imagined a better sitter than Jess. She went above and beyond to care for our puppy and 2 cats. I received frequent updates and photos and reassurance that everything was going well. Our puppy wasn’t feeling well while we were away and Jess took such good care of her that I didn’t even have to worry. I recommend Jess for anyone that is looking for a caring, reliable and responsible sitter who will love your pet like her own.”

“If I could give McKenna 10 stars I would! McKenna house sat our 4 year old pup Finley for 6 days/ nights while we took a family trip. Not one day went by without pictures and lovely communication about Fin! Our boy was so well taken care of and loved, we felt incredibly comfortable and secure simply knowing she was there with him. Ty again McKenna!!”

About: I’ve taken care of my own pets since I was 6, so I know how to take care of different pets no matter what kinda of pet is. I just love animals! , so I don’t mind taking care of them. :> I am currently working part-time in a university dining hall in the afternoons , where I work every other weekend. I have classes in the mornings; however, I am fully available during school breaks, and my sister and parents help me taking care of the pet when I’m not at home.(My schedule might change when classes start) I have a younger sister of 11 years friendly and loves pets. I don’t have my own yard but outside my house there’s a nice space for pets where they can run, walk safe. It’s like a nice big green yard basically.
“Tessa was a fantastic sitter. She treated the house with respect, provided helpful updates, and asked great questions regarding our dog's care. Thank you, Lucy is looking forward to the next stay!”

“My wife and I just had Jennifer stay with our dog for the very first time …. it was perfect! Wylie and Jennifer got along great! Jennifer made him feel loved and comfortable. Wylie has a strong attachment to my wife, but Jennifer won him over. While the Rover website is great and easy to work with, Jennifer walked us through the process, explained what she could do and made us feel good about leaving Wylie in the hands of a complete stranger (a stranger no more). We were equally impressed with how well Jennifer treated our home. We were gone overnight and Jennifer stayed with Wylie in our home. There is no question that I very highly recommend Jennifer to anyone who is the least bit nervous about having a pet-sitter. We plan on using her every chance we get!”
“Michelle was great! Although one of my dogs at a rough start, she was patient and persistent to find a way to make him comfortable during the time they were together. Both of my dogs had a great time with her. She made sure to keep them occupied, playing outside. Michelle went above and beyond and look forward to having her stay with my dogs again in the future.”

“Tina is great with both of the pups especially one of them being a little bit more anxious when we’re not around. Despite a short notice, she managed to accommodate us for a meet and greet beforehand to get to know the pups better!”

“Eleanor was wonderful with my 3 dogs. She sent lots of pictures. The girls were happy and well taken care of. They got plenty of outdoor time and playtime with Eleanor. Would highly recommend Eleanor”

“2nd time using Tiaesha and I will use her without hesitation again and again. One of my dogs always is hesitant at first but Tiaesha knows exactly how to get her to warm up to her and they are best friends from there after.”

“Amanda is an outstanding sitter! She stayed at our home while we were away to watch our dog, Edna. Amanda consistently went above and beyond to ensure that Edna was well cared for and loved - including making sure Edna’s routine was followed and also taking her on outings/fun trips and helping her eat when she was nervous. Amanda is a great communicator, providing frequent photo updates and check ins. There were several scheduling logistics that emerged during Amanda’s stay with our dog and Amanda was constantly in close communication with us each step of the way. She made sure everything was well coordinated with Edna’s care amidst a transition between sitters and another personal dynamic that came up. We were so reassured knowing that Edna was so well taken care of while we were away! We are grateful to Amanda for her thoughtful and attentive care. We highly recommend Amanda as a dog and house sitter!”

About: Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve always had an animal around the house. Whether it was my parents cats, my family dogs, or my grandparents fosters, there has always been an animal in my household! I love entertaining them and playing with them, and I do my best to make sure they feel loved and safe in their spaces! I am a college student who works as a substitute teacher, so weekends are the main time I can provide your pet with the best service possible! But, if you communicate ahead of time and are nearby, I’m sure we can figure out a time for me to drop in, or the chance of me staying overnight to care for your pet! As it is currently summer, and I am unfortunately without a summer job, I am available for all weekdays for the most part! So please contact me! When coming into your home, I want to make sure that I am the best guest possible. Not only do I want your pet to be comfortable with me in their space, but I want you to feel comfortable with me caring for them. Give me the ground rules, the entire run down, and I will put my best foot forward to show you I’m somebody you can trust.
“shanette gets 5 big stars for her on time and attentive care for my dog. she is also very patient with my young dog who has lots of energy. I would use Shanette anytime she’s available.”

“Hadija is a pleasure to work with. She took very good care of Max while we were away. We got frequent updates along with pictures and videos, and she was very responsive when we had questions. I felt safe having Hadija in my house taking care of Max. I look forward to working with her again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Fords
Kortni was amazing! She mentioned not being as comfortable with cats compared to dogs, but she took such great care of our very skittish cats. One of them became her close buddy and kept close tabs on the other one who was very elusive. She shared many pictures and provided daily updates of the cats. We saw them today and they look healthy and happy.

I have a senior dog that requires a lot of care. Shandy has been wonderful to make sure all her needs are met and she is properly supervised. She’s also very communicative and does well with my cat (who loves her). If you need a trustworthy sitter, I would highly recommend hiring Shandy!

Stephanie was amazing with our dogs during our 1 week vacation. She was very responsible and extremely communicative and sent us lots of pictures and videos, which we loved. She followed our instructions and our house was as we left it once we got back. She even gave us updates on our cats even though she didn’t have to. I am so glad I found her and will definitely be using her again!

We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter. Vanessa was amazing! Our pups all have very different needs and personalities, and she handled each of them with patience, attention, and care. When we got back, the dogs were happy, relaxed, and well taken care of. It gave us such peace of mind knowing they were in capable hands. We’re so grateful to Vanessa and wouldn’t hesitate to trust her again. Highly recommend to anyone looking for someone dependable and caring!

Vivian is the best! It was my first time using Rover and I was comfortable leaving my house and my greyhound with her because of all of the good reviews that she had, but she really exceeded my expectations. She sent plenty of pictures and updates throughout the weekend and a summary at the end of each day. I highly recommend her!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fords walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fords maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fords choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fords. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
