“This was my first time using Rover, and let me just say Kortni took away all of the worries and anxiety that I had. She is truly one of a kind. She sent pictures and updates throughout the entire trip. You can see the love she has for pets! I would highly recommend her to anyone! She’s the best!”

“Laura watched our dog at our home while we were away for a few days. She did an excellent job with our dog and treated our home with respect. We will definitely reach out in the future when we can't bring our pup on trips! Highly recommend Laura”

About: I have had dogs all my life. As if 2012 I have had my own Yorkshire terrier his name is Gizmo. I also take care of the family dog Lucy a 6 year old Stratfordshire terrier(Pitbull) since 2017. My friends, Family, neighbors and clients have relied on me to walk, feed and play with their dogs. Check on them when they are gone. I am working part time as a remote contractor. I am free and available 7 days a week. Monday thru Sunday From 8am to 11pm I keep both of my dogs in the house and take them on 3 walks a day. I Enjoy taking Care of animals. Going for Walks and any other needs that is each animal requires.
“My wife and I just had Jennifer stay with our dog for the very first time …. it was perfect! Wylie and Jennifer got along great! Jennifer made him feel loved and comfortable. Wylie has a strong attachment to my wife, but Jennifer won him over. While the Rover website is great and easy to work with, Jennifer walked us through the process, explained what she could do and made us feel good about leaving Wylie in the hands of a complete stranger (a stranger no more). We were equally impressed with how well Jennifer treated our home. We were gone overnight and Jennifer stayed with Wylie in our home. There is no question that I very highly recommend Jennifer to anyone who is the least bit nervous about having a pet-sitter. We plan on using her every chance we get!”
About: I've taken care of dogs (either my own or pet-sitting) for the past 15 years. I have had many friends and family members rely on me to keep their pets fed, walked, played with, and loved while they are out! I also have experience with senior dogs, giving medication etc. My work schedule is fairly flexible, so it's super easy for me to fit pet care into my daily/weekly routines! I keep my home clean and safe for pups to venture around. I will send lots of pictures so you know your pet is happy and well taken care of. I have a fairly flexible full time job where I am able to work from home as needed. Additionally, when I need to be in person it is usually only for a few hours maximum. So I have plenty of time to be playing with and caring for your pups! I live in a very walkable neighborhood with lots of great spots for fur babies to use the bathroom and get their exercise in! I spend a lot of time after initial drop off trying to make your pet as comfortable and relaxed as possible! I'll also send you lots of pictures to alleviate some of the stress of leaving your pup with someone else. I spend a lot of time giving the pets I care for the same love and attention they would receive at home.
“2nd time using Tiaesha and I will use her without hesitation again and again. One of my dogs always is hesitant at first but Tiaesha knows exactly how to get her to warm up to her and they are best friends from there after.”

“Kimberly was wonderful and such a great help at the last minute! She gave great updates and photos of my puppers day. Would highly recommend and look forward to using her again!”
“Marie took amazing care of my three older dogs, all of whom are on different diets/supplements. She sent regular updates and pictures, and I came home to three happy pups. I can't recommend her enough!”

About: I’ve taken care of my own pets since I was 6, so I know how to take care of different pets no matter what kinda of pet is. I just love animals! , so I don’t mind taking care of them. :> I am currently working part-time in a university dining hall in the afternoons , where I work every other weekend. I have classes in the mornings; however, I am fully available during school breaks, and my sister and parents help me taking care of the pet when I’m not at home.(My schedule might change when classes start) I have a younger sister of 11 years friendly and loves pets. I don’t have my own yard but outside my house there’s a nice space for pets where they can run, walk safe. It’s like a nice big green yard basically.

“It was a very nice experience having Veronica cat sit my two fur babies. She was very good at communicating and very responsible! My cats really took to her fast, considering I have one that is very cautious around new people, was warming up to her quickly. When I came home things felt very good, the cats seemed happy and things went very smooth overall! I felt I could trust her so I was at ease while away! Will call again! :)”

“Evgenii was amazing! Our older two dogs were well cared for. We received pics and updates which made us happy! Our house was spotless when we returned! Couldn’t have chosen a better dog sitter. Highly recommend him and will be using him again!”

“Shanette stayed at our house for one week with our Maltese. Took excellent care of our dog and sent updates, pictures, and videos. We felt so at ease and comfortable with our dog in her care. Worth the money for peace of mind.”

About: Book with me. To ensure you have the best sitter for your pup, I provide a safe, warming, calm, fun environment when booked for an overnight stay at my place. Constant walks throughout the day. Always keep about two bowls of water around the house and provide daily morning exercise routines (my morning walks/jogs). I do recommend clients/parents to provide food and treats for dogs and keep me aware of any allergies or habits the pup has. I have no problem buying treats or toys as long as it’s okay with the client/parent. This also goes for traveling to clients/parents homes.
About: I have hands-on experience caring for and walking dogs through owning my own pets, including a pit bull and a German shepherd. I’m comfortable with different sizes and energy levels. I’ve also volunteer at a local animal shelter, where I interacted with dogs, helping me build patience, attentiveness, and strong animal-handling skills. I’m currently on a work break with open availability. I’m available weekdays and weekends, giving me plenty of time to care for and play with your cats. I provide a safe, calm environment, follow routines closely, and ensure pets feel comfortable and secure. I respect your home and treat every pet like my own.
About: Gentle & reliable dog walker. Grew up with a Labrador, so I know the love (and energy!) dogs bring. Your pup’s safety & fun always come first 😊. My schedule is pretty relaxed. I have a part-time job from 4-8 pm Monday-Wednesday and work from home Thursday and Friday. Weekends are also generally free, but sometimes I have to take time to help take care of some stuff for my parents. My fenced-in backyard and the safety of my neighborhood provide peace of mind. Since I don’t have any other pets in my home, you can rest assured that your pets won’t encounter any issues or conflicts within the household.
“Cordelia was absolutely amazing with Gracie! She was incredibly attentive, followed all of our instructions to a tee, and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. She consistently checked in and sent photos, which we really appreciated—it was such a comfort to see Gracie happy and relaxed. It was clear she was well cared for and truly loved. We’d gladly book with Cordelia again—highly recommend!”

About: Hi! I’m Jackie, a lifelong animal lover with a soft spot for dogs, cats, and senior pets. I grew up with dogs and have always been comfortable around them, their energy, and their routines. As an adult, I’m a proud cat mom, which has given me a deep appreciation for feline personalities, boundaries, and the quieter kind of companionship. I understand that pets aren’t just animals—they’re family, and trusting someone with them is a big deal. I’m patient, attentive, and very detail-oriented when it comes to routines, feeding instructions, medications, and comfort needs. I work from home, which allows me to be present, responsive, and flexible with schedules. I especially enjoy providing calm, reassuring care for pets who may be shy, anxious, older, or just prefer a quieter environment. Whether your pet loves playtime, long walks, or simply having someone nearby for comfort and companionship, my goal is always to help them feel safe, loved, and relaxed while giving you peace of mind when you’re away. Pet care fits easily into my routine because I work part time and have a very flexible schedule, allowing me to be present, responsive, and attentive to pets throughout the day. I care for pets by closely following their established routines so they feel safe and comfortable in a familiar environment. I take time to understand each pet’s feeding schedule, walking needs, litter or potty routines, medications, and any special instructions provided by their owner. In a client’s home, I’m respectful, clean, and attentive, making sure pets receive plenty of companionship, enrichment, and reassurance while maintaining their normal daily rhythm. I prioritize calm, positive interactions and never rush care. If caring for pets in my home, I provide a quiet, low-stress environment with close supervision, lots of attention, and regular updates to owners. I’m especially mindful of safety, comfort, and cleanliness. I communicate regularly with photos and updates so owners feel confident and connected while they’re away, and I always adjust my care style based on each pet’s personality, energy level, and needs.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Perth Amboy
Kortni was amazing! She mentioned not being as comfortable with cats compared to dogs, but she took such great care of our very skittish cats. One of them became her close buddy and kept close tabs on the other one who was very elusive. She shared many pictures and provided daily updates of the cats. We saw them today and they look healthy and happy.

Stephanie was amazing with our dogs during our 1 week vacation. She was very responsible and extremely communicative and sent us lots of pictures and videos, which we loved. She followed our instructions and our house was as we left it once we got back. She even gave us updates on our cats even though she didn’t have to. I am so glad I found her and will definitely be using her again!

Julia was an incredible sitter for Polo over Christmas week. From the moment we booked, she was communicative and thoughtful, excited to spend time with him. Throughout the stay, she sent regular updates and photos. Polo can be a sensitive little guy, but he warmed up to her and Julia kept his routine consistent, gave him tons of attention, and made sure he got plenty of playtime and snuggles. I felt completely at ease knowing he was in such caring hands during the holidays. I would recommend Julia without hesitation and will absolutely book with her again!

Beth was very communicative and flexible while accommodating our last minute plans to travel for Christmas Eve and Day. I met with Beth prior to our travel and she asked questions, provided references who were happy to provide glowing recommendations, and even returned back to meet my spouse who wasn’t available at our initial meeting. During our travel she took very good care of my dog and parrot, providing updates throughout the two days she was watching them including photos of our pets which set our minds at ease knowing our animals looked happy and well taken care of while we were away. There were absolutely zero issues with Beth. We are so happy to have found a trusted pet sitter to watch our pets.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Perth Amboy on Rover is $55.24 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

As of July 2026, there are 17,785 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Perth Amboy. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Perth Amboy walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Perth Amboy maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Perth Amboy choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Perth Amboy. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
