Megan was great. She accepted the short notice request to drop in on North. She was very communicative and put me right at ease with her taking care of North and being in my house.

About: I have always been an animal lover since childhood and have taken care of a variety of pets of all sizes! I've helped raise puppies, taken care of senior dogs, and helped train good walking, bathing, and bathroom habits. Most animals respond very well to me. Also being a bigger person I have no trouble dealing with larger dogs. Very experienced in all areas of pet care. I am a college student at College of the Redwoods pursuing my degree in Social Work. I have a free summer and would love to spend time with your pets! Weekends or evenings are not a problem for house sitting. I love to spend my time with animals giving them quality care and attention. I am more than happy to watch your pets while you are away on vacation or gone for the day. I can do drop bys or overnights depending on your preference and your animals needs. I have a large fenced yard that is great for dogs if you need doggy daycare. I have reliable transportation to get to and from. I can take them on walks in your neighborhood or go to a local dog park if you prefer. Very open to working with what is best for your animal. I have my own dogs at home but will leave them with my sister while caring for your animal(s) unless you would like the socializing. We have two friendly larger male dogs that love to meet new dogs if you are interested in doggy day care. Our home has a large size dog door for pets to access the house at their convenience.

About: I've owned dogs and helped in their care since I was young. I've pet sat for friends and neighbors as well. My current dog has been trained by me to be a service dog, so I'm good with puppy training, as well as patience. I also take care of our elderly pugs grooming needs, such as nail trimming and coat brushing. I am currently at home often, so I'll have plenty of time to take care of your pet. I'll be able to make many runs over to check on your pet, or be able to stay with little to get in the way. If there ever is anything in the way, I will always be straight forward and communicate. I have a fenced in backyard and 3 dogs who are all very friendly. I never leave them alone and will always have an eye on them, so nothing goes wrong. I'm able to dog proof areas that may have problems, and keep anything dangerous well put of reach. I'm also able to have secure spaces incase dogs need to destimulate away from others. They will never be left alone unless I'm strictly given instruction.

About: I am a former dog trainer at Dog Gone Amazing training and boarding in Reno Nv for the past 4 and half years. I moved to Eureka to have a new start and would love to continue to work with animals. I’ve worked with many different breeds and many different temperaments. I currently have two dogs of my own and a cat as well. I’ve grown up with all sorts of animals, such a horses, chickens, sled dogs and cats. I would love to continue working with new pets and their owners! I currently have 2 dogs and a cat. I’ve also worked as a kennel tech at a boarding/training facility and then moved on to become a trainer at that same facility. I always recommend crates for any situation but in my own home I would crate all dogs and rotate based on how they all get along. Feeding in the crate or separate from other animals. Daily walks or hikes depending on the animal. Cats would get daily enrichment. If weather doesn’t permit or the animal isn’t able to get that day I’d offer mental enrichment such as lick mats, food puzzles, play, training, etc.

About: Hello, my name is Adam. I have been living in Humboldt county for six years. It's a beautiful place to explore and learn about nature. I enjoy spending time with our furry friends. We understand each other and get along great. Dogs, depending on health conditions, want to run and play and establish bonds with their pack. They want guidance and discipline coupled with novelty. No matter the size your pet is a wolf inside. Excercise, specifically running in formation, and playful socializing helps their mental well being. Dogs experience anxiety and boredom just like we do. Behaviors like excessive licking and barking could be signs that something's up. Allow me to take your best friend on daily adventures while reinforcing the commands and desired behaviors that you have already established.

About: I truly believe that our pets deserve the best care that we can provide, and I know how stressful it can be to trust someone else to show the same level of love and attention for your furry family members as you do! Through pet sitting for the last 10 years, I’ve been able to care for a variety of pets and learn about each of their individual needs. I’ve cared for dogs, cats, horses, reptiles, and birds, and would love to meet your pets next! I have experience caring for young and old pets, and administering some types of medications (oral/topical, eyes/ears). I will provide enrichment activities and exercise for your pet while you’re away on a trip or just at work for a long day! I’m very comfortable around horses, and can provide feedings, stall cleanings, and exercise if desired. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to drop by for walks, playtimes, or feedings that best fit you and your pets schedule. I live locally in downtown Ferndale and have consistent transportation if you’re located farther out of town! I’m always respectful of my clients homes, their privacy and individual needs. I try to adhere to your pets normal routine. Whether it’s preparing their food *just* right, taking their favorite route on a walk, or playing their favorite game, your pet deserves the best care and attention while you’re away!

About: I started my first dog walking buisness at 10 years old and was only charging my neighbors 10 cents a walk 🤣 obviously since then I have grown and I have spent most of my time around animals. I used to be a professional equestrian and have been taking care of and around horses since I was 6! I've done 4H and i have a little bangle kitty of my own! I would love to work with your availability! I am completely available for overnights and I have a flexible schedule during the day as well! For boarding in house I currently live in a RV on a beautiful property with a river behind it with my kitty oscar. There is a main house where we train and raise dogs! About: Not your average dog caretaker! I am a certified professional dog trainer & handler extraordinaire. Many folks on this platform will get your dog out for a "walk" and barely cover half a mile in the whole 30 minutes-- not me! I will make sure the needs of your dog are met, whatever they may be. I will maximize the booking for exercise, engagement, potty/food needs, and love. Your dog will look forward to our visits! I have worked closely with dogs in a variety of capacities- sled dogs, detection dogs, foster dogs, you name it! They are what I'm passionate about and providing quality care is my utmost priority. I work from home and have a highly flexible schedule, so I will always be available to tend to the needs of your pet(s). I put the needs of the animals I care for above all else. With any booking- you will get updates at least once a day, with photos and an update of how much fun your pet is having! In addition to Rover's offerings, I offer pack excursions! For an excursion, your pet will be picked up, taken on a hike/run/walk of 2-6 miles, as appropriate. I offer these as pack walks, so it's likely your dog will be with at least one other pup. Meet and greets are essential before booking due to this. Walks are adjusted to meet the needs of the dogs in the pack, and packs are put together based on similar needs. After 2-4 hours, depending on the excursion, your dog will be returned home toweled off and tired! Training can be arranged for dogs with either 3+ day long stays, or repeat day care/walkers. I specialize in "problem" behaviors, such as separation anxiety, destruction, shyness, etc. and would love to work with you and your pet on such issues. I make my own dog treats and enjoy sharing them with the pets I look after, if allowed by the owner. I also do pet-friendly cakes, so let me know if you have a special event coming up! I currently have a highly flexible schedule. Dog care is already integrated into my every day life. Literally- it's almost my entire life! Reach out and let's see if I can provide what you need! I have a sweet medium sized dog in my home that will befriend yours if they want, or casually do her own thing. I happily crate dogs or give them a safe space to occupy for down time/bed time. I don't typically allow guest dogs on furniture but have ample memory foam beds across the house. I provide LOTS of engagement and exercise, and some training on request.

About: I have been around various household pets since I can remember! I grew up in a household that had several dogs and cats at one time, and even other pets like turtles, rats, hamsters, and fish. Pets are just a part of my life and I know what a vital role they play. That is why I want to help others care for their animal family members. I have been taught how to properly feed, brush & bathe dogs and cats (though bathing cats can be challenging), trim their nails safely, and clean their ears. I also know how important play time is, especially for youngsters. I currently care for a single cat who is 2 years old and is a lot of energy. On top of caring for household pets, I also have 5 years of experience caring for wildlife, such as birds and small rodents, at a rehabilitation center. There, I stuck to a strict care regimen of constant feeding, cleaning, and administering medicine. So, if you are seeking someone with a lot of pet-care experience who shares a love for animals, look no further! I am a recent graduate from Cal Poly Humboldt, so I can easily fit caring for pets into my schedule. I am currently hunting for a job, so I am very available right now. If you need me to house sit during the week, I am available to do so as long as I can leave to care for my own cat and return. I am able to provide a variety of needs to you and your pets. Their safety and health is my priority. While I cannot board pets at my apartment, I am happy to watch pets at your home! I will happily adhere to your pet's personal feeding and walking schedules. Of course, play time is a must. I am also able to take care of some simple grooming, such as brushing, bathing, trimming nails, and cleaning ears (so long as your pets are comfortable with it). If your pet requires medication, I am able to do so as long as I am given proper instructions based on your pet's needs.

About: Hello, my name is Kat and I work as a Registered Veterinary Technician and am currently looking to spend some extra hours caring for your dog, cat, farm or exotic pet. I have 10+ years experience in the veterinary field and a lifetime of experience loving and caring for animals. I'm comfortable working with animals with certain behavioral issues or treating for medical issues. I do work during the day on some weekdays and Saturdays so I would only be able to do morning and evening drop ins for 4 days out of the week and can spend nights for house sitting. I am available all day on Sundays and 2 other days of the week. I am unable to do dog boarding at home as our cat has some medical issues and I do not want to stress him out. I look forward to meeting and caring for your pet! In the client's home, I will always be respectful and courteous of both the home and the pet. I am happy to also water plants, bring in the mail or any other home care need while you are away. I will make sure to provide a lot of attention, treats and pets to any furbaby under my care.

FAQs for Drop-In Visits - Ferndale

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 114 sitters on Rover offering Cat Sitting across Ferndale. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ferndale. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
