“Another wonderful job by Amanda! Our elder dog Chelsea was getting over not feeling well and Amanda cared for her like she was her own. She gave lots of feedback and pics. Showered our Chelsea Girl with attention. Will book again!”

“We had Sonnie of the duo stay at our house with our pups and we’ve never come back from vacation before and had the dogs been so relaxed. Sonnie did such a phenomenal job caring for our animals and our house. We felt incredibly comfortable leaving them in Sonnie’s care after two pre-vacation visits where our pets simply could not get enough of Sonnie. Sonnie showed kindness and understanding, sent us daily updates and pictures. I would definitely hire Sonnie again when we go away or just to let the pups out or walk them when we have a long day away. Thanks so much Sonnie!”

“Trisha graciously watched my 2 older dogs at the last minute in my home. She was an amazing houseguest, and was incredible with my visually impaired dog who requires various daily medications. My other grumpy dog took to Trisha immediately, which is remarkable as he can be stingy with his affection. Thank you Trisha and we all look forward to seeing you again soon.❤️”

“We had Kelly come dog sit in January for a week. She was amazing! Very comforting for us that my dog, Sophie, would be cared for in my home. Sophie is normally an anxious dog. While Kelly was with her, Sophie was completely fine. I really enjoyed the photos of Sophie that Kelly sent me during her stay. Kelly stayed overnight for Sophie, she was very respectful of my home and left it the way she found it. I would highly recommend Kelly for your pet needs!!!!”

“Maria was an absolute lifesaver. She stepped in on very short notice to care for my dog, Rizzo, and handled everything flawlessly. She was comfortable administering his insulin, kept me updated throughout the morning, and sent pictures so I knew he was doing well. On top of that, she safely transported him to his next destination without any issues. It gave me huge peace of mind knowing Rizzo was in such capable and attentive hands. Maria was reliable, communicative, and clearly very experienced with dogs who have medical needs. I wouldn’t hesitate to book her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter.”

“We left our senior home in good hands. We were updated daily and sent photos. Will definitely be using Sam again and highly recommend. She was very accommodating and flexible to our needs. We were never worried about our Cosmo.”
“Beth was very caring to Buddy and stayed in touch with me daily on how he was doing. She took good care of my house as well and communicated quickly. I’d book her services again :)”

“Elliot and Jackson are truly amazing dog sitters. They took the time to get to know our two mini schnauzers (one being a nervous rescue) prior to the visit. Communication was excellent during the pet sitting and I felt confident that my dogs were being well cared for. They even got some kisses from my rescue boy, which doesn’t happen often. I would highly recommend them.”

About: I have a passion for working with dogs (and cats), especially in training with them. I have 10+ years experience of working, riding, and training horses! No matter the age or size, I’ll be there to care for them when you need. Even if they have special needs or quirks, I’ll always accommodate. Looking to make this into my career!! I have a huge passion for animals, especially dogs, cats and horses. I got into this so I can prioritize my passion for a career with dogs! Weekends are available as well, and I will always try and work something out! No matter the size or age of your pet, I will always try my very best to accommodate! I am available for most holidays as well! I try and leave everything as if I was never even there! I love brushing cats/dogs so I might just spend time doing that as well! I try and be as comforting as possible to keep the pets routine the same as well.
“Melissa is simply amazing. We have re-booked her over 10 times for home visits and home sitting our pet, Scott. We all were going on an international trip of ~10 days and we were worried since this was the first time we using someone’s services to stay at home and take care of Scott. Punctuality is Melissa’s virtue and Scott was absolutely comfortable with her. All those 10 days, we were very peaceful and Melissa ensured, with pictures and videos of Scott, that we were always in touch! A very big shout out to Melissa for a fantastic service!”

About: I’ve taken care of all kinds of dogs (and other animals!) for many years. Family, friends, and co-workers have relied on me to watch and care for their pets whether it’s walking, feeding, playing, even taking them to the vet. I’ve taken care of dogs of all sizes and ages, from senior bull mastiffs to pugs under a year old. There is no dog too big or too small because they’re all perfect to me. I’ve also found lost dogs and helped them return to their owners! I have experience caring for anxious dogs, blind dogs, deaf dogs, dogs with mobility issues, and dogs that require medication. Other animals I’ve taken care of include: cats, parrots, guinea pigs, fish, rabbits, and hamsters. Pets are so precious, they’re such an important source of joy in their family’s lives so it’s such a privilege to be trusted with their care!! :) Pet sitting is currently my full time job, so I have lots of time to give your animals the special care and attention they deserve! I have a fenced in yard which is perfect for dogs to run around in. I also have a car so I’m able to take dogs to the dog park or dog beaches nearby (if that’s something they would enjoy). At a client’s house I still follow any guidance/schedule given to me. In between I typically take the dog’s lead. I’m at their house so it’s important to me that I respect their space (and the clients above all)! I like to take their cues to make sure that their sense of routine isn’t disrupted.
“Kim is awesome! I felt 100% comfortable leaving my pup knowing he was with her. She clearly both loves and understands dogs and is reliable, a good communicator, and lovely to deal with. I came home to a happy and well cared for dog. Thank you!”

“I feel so comfortable working with Melanie and Anthony. They seem to know how to make the pup and the parent feel relaxed. My pup definitely seemed relaxed and happy. Great sitters!!”

“Brianna stayed with my pack for 2 nights and did a fantastic job. She was responsible for giving my epileptic dog his medications and also one of my cats his antibiotic, which is no easy feat. Brianna was communicative and everyone seemed very happy when I got home. I would highly recommend her to others as she is reliable, attentive, and definitely can follow instructions on complex animals.”

“Staci was absolutely wonderful! One of our dogs is in the middle of a long recovery from TPLO surgery, Staci was great with her and even slept downstairs on the couch since our dog can’t climb stairs right now. Lots of great pictures through our trip that made us feel so much more relaxed knowing everyone was doing good. Highly recommend Staci!!”

About: Born dog person, with over 25 years experience. Big, small, old, young, no breeds are turned down. Weekends are preferable, but weekdays can be arranged as well! I have a job but I make my own schedule, so any dogs I have receive full attention. I can come in and out of my home all day if necessary. I have a fenced in yard with two medium sized friendly dogs which provide a great arena for play time. Frequent walks and/or runs will keep your dog happy and calm as well.

About: I am an experienced dog walker, and pet owner. I was a Rover walker and dog care friend from 2017 to 2019. After taking time off to attend graduate school, and a pandemic, I am happy to continue taking care of human's best friends again. I've taken care all kinds of dogs, from Siberian Huskies, to bulldogs, to cocker spaniels, beagles, and the young and then the young at heart. My own family's dog is a five-year-old English Bulldog/Beagle mix, Rooney (pictured here as a pup). I currently work full time from home. I love staying active and have a car for easy transportation. If you are interested in doggy-day care, I prefer you request it at least 24 hours in advance. Especially for those circumstances, I prefer to have a meet and greet with you and your dog if possible, to see if we are good fits for each other. Thank you for choosing me to care for your best friend. I look forward to meeting you and your pup! I am home most of the time because I work virtually. As long as I can schedule it beforehand, I can drive to you for walkings. I currently do not board, but in your home I will treat it with the utmost respect as I would my own. I always oblige to my client's wishes in how their dog plays a part in their home.

This was my first time using Isabella (Bella) and I was more than satisfied. I have four cats on four different types of food and two are on medications more than once a day. Bella followed the instructions for my complicated household perfectly and was in communication about updates the entire time. Additionally, one of my cats on medication gave Bella a very hard time. She was still able to medicate him which was no easy feat. I dont think anyone but a true, licensed professional like Bella would have been able to. I have the utmost trust and the highest rating for Bella, who succeeded my expectations. Bella is a reliable, compassionate sitter and I'd use her again in a heartbeat.

This is our second time using Amanda’s services and we already booked a third one for November. It’s so comforting to be able to leave our two little anxious dogs knowing they are in such good hands! Amanda’s personality is so calming and relaxed which is just what our dogs need! I highly recommend Amanda!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Farmingville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Farmingville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Farmingville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Farmingville. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
