“Melanie and Anthony were great with our dogs, even with one of them in heat. They kept them well fed and exercised. We were very pleased with the experience”

“Amanda was great with our kitties while we were away on vacation! She sent lots of updates with photos/videos and was very respectful of our space. Amanda went above and beyond during meal times as our kitties need to be separated and can be picky eaters. I would highly recommend Amanda for any of your pet care needs!”

“Staci was absolutely wonderful! One of our dogs is in the middle of a long recovery from TPLO surgery, Staci was great with her and even slept downstairs on the couch since our dog can’t climb stairs right now. Lots of great pictures through our trip that made us feel so much more relaxed knowing everyone was doing good. Highly recommend Staci!!”

“Kelly was such a great caretaker for our babies and our house! She is so patient and loving; she took excellent care of everyone; and she gave us frequent photos and updates while staying at our house. We will absolutely ask her to care for our pets again!”

“Hands down best dog sitter I’ve ever had. I’ve never felt more comfortable leaving my baby with anyone else. I received photos and updates throughout the day and the experience with dogs was unmatched. Thank you! Will definitely use again!!!”

“I recently used Tricia for the first time for two nights of pet sitting with my senior chihuahua, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience! She was incredibly professional, attentive, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. She took such amazing care of my dog and kept me updated the entire time with thoughtful messages and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind. It meant everything knowing Winnie was in such good hands. I will absolutely be using her services again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring pet sitter!”

“Melissa is simply amazing. We have re-booked her over 10 times for home visits and home sitting our pet, Scott. We all were going on an international trip of ~10 days and we were worried since this was the first time we using someone’s services to stay at home and take care of Scott. Punctuality is Melissa’s virtue and Scott was absolutely comfortable with her. All those 10 days, we were very peaceful and Melissa ensured, with pictures and videos of Scott, that we were always in touch! A very big shout out to Melissa for a fantastic service!”

“Handled two young puppies with love and care. Able to stay in the house for several hours sent pictures and update of their activity during her time with them. Highly recommend”

I also grew up with my amazing dog Maddie, so I understand your pets are more then animals they are truly family. I love creating a calm, loving and happy environment for your babies. I can't wait to meet them! I'm currently working part-time so I have a very flexible schedule. I am able go over and take care of them any date, time, or holiday. About: I have taken care of dogs my whole life, including my two childhood dogs and I’ve babysat and watched other families dogs for 10 years now during highschool and college. I am now a physician assistant and have a rotating schedule that allows me to be home during the week. I am on both Wag and Rover. I have a rotating schedule and am home most days of the week, and able to spend a lot of time with the doggies. I eventually want to get my own again! I have a really nice neighborhood to walk the dogs around, my friend also does rover who lives next door! There’s a ton of parks to play fetch and run around with them as well if that’s something you’d be interested in.
“Sharon did an amazing job caring for our dogs! We were gone for a week and it was the longest time we have ever been away from them. Very nervous that they would be depressed but Sharon played with them a lot and even got one of our finicky eaters to eat his food! She even had to administer an allergy pill to one of the dogs and it was not an issue. We came back and house was in good order and the dogs looked great! Would use Sharon again without hesitation.”

“Jocelyn is an AMAZING pet sitter! She was patient, compassionate and very caring with our two senior dogs, including their ongoing care, multiple medications and their quirky needs. Our 17 y.o. dog needs help on stairs and she lovingly assisted him by carrying him down the stairs. They lived their best lives during their week with Jocelyn and are still standing by the door waiting for her to come "home" even though we ourselves have been back for days. :-) Jocelyn was highly responsible and responsive with our requests for the dogs and our home. She also came over for an early meet-n-greet as well as the day before we left, for keys and final instructions. I trust her implicitly and would ask her back to help with the dogs in a heartbeat! I highly recommend our favorite new friend!”

About: Animal lover since the day I was born! I have a 5 year old cat named Lilly who is extremely friendly with other pets so I can bring pets to my house. I worked at New York’s Best Pets on Dyckman 200 Street before it burned down unfortunately and there I took care of feeding, grooming and playing with the pets as well as customer service. I’ve taken care of many dogs in the past, from walking to dog sitting. I have given prescribed medicine to dogs when they needed it and have trimmed their hair when asked to, as well as given them a full shower and a good groom. I live next to Raynor Beach Country Park and I love going out for walks and runs so you know your dogs will always have a good time and stay fit! I’ve been taking care of pets most of my life and I want to give pets the best experience they’ve ever had. I’m athletic so I have plenty of energy to burn. With me, I can guarantee your pets will have a great time and you’ll be satisfied with how they’ve been taken care of!

About: We have a fantastic yard and spend all the time together with your dog. We give him/her attention, love, we play and interact constantly. Our yard is fenced in, so the dogs are free to roam and explore. If the weather permits, we go for walks daily and your dog will join us if he/she likes walks. We are dog lovers and we take pride in providing the best care. The dogs become part of our family for the duration of their visit here . Most of our dogs are repeat customers, they come back time and time again and we miss them when they go. We would love to meet you and your dog and expand our circle of friends. We have been doing dog sitting for 8 years now, we have built many memories and made so many friends. Some of our friends are young and energetic, fun and silly. We play and cuddle or just give them space when they want peace and quiet time. We are also specialize in older pets, we take good care of our older companions; some are blind, some take liquid or pill medication or daily shots, some require a bit more care and attention. I have a weak spot for the older pets, as young as vibrant some are now.. one day they will be old but our love for them stays the same, or even grows with the years, they become part of our hearts. About this sitter: I am a dog loving person, I see their unconditional love every day. They are always happy to see me, follow me everywhere, giving me companionship. I take great care of my dogs and those dogs visiting us, I am a responsible dog loving person. Why I love dog sitting I've had dogs my entire life, at times one, at times two. They were always loved and I have fond memories of all, I cannot imagine life without dogs. I have one dog now and I love him dearly, but I have many friends and they fill my heart (and house). About my yard we have a large fenced-in yard, sealed shut with gates. The dogs have plenty of room to run and play. If it's hot we go for a walk in the evening, if it's nice we spend a lot of time outside. I am with the dogs 24 hours per day; on the rare occasion I need to run out, my mom is here at the house watching the dogs so they are never left by themselves. I only accept 2 or 3 dogs at a time; they become part of our family and we spend all time with them; the reason for taking in just a few dogs is that I want to give them all my time and attention.
About: I love all animals, but I have a special place in my heart for dogs! I grew up with a family dog and have cared for many of my friends’ and family members’ pets over the past 10 years. I’ve also trained my own dog and love learning new tips and techniques to help pets thrive. Whether it’s a quick walk around the block or a long hike on the trails, I truly enjoy spending time outdoors with dogs. I’m also hoping that by dog sitting and walking, I’ll finally convince my husband that it’s time for us to adopt our own pup soon! 🐶❤️ I currently work Tues-Thurs full time in NYC office and available most weekends. My husband and I enjoy filling our free time walking and caring for dogs. He and I both will care for your beloved furry baby like it is our own. Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Ronkonkoma
Linda is amazing!!. My dog has anxiety, especially around new people, and Linda's calm, patient and caring nature put her at ease right away. It gave me complete peace of mind knowing my pup was in such loving hands. I couldn't ask for a better sitter. I highly recommend Linda!!

This was our first time leaving our dogs with a sitter and also the longest we had ever been away from them, so we were understandably a little nervous. Our dogs can be very anxious and reactive around new people, but by the end of her stay they absolutely loved Staci. Staci was incredibly attentive, thoughtful, and proactive throughout the entire time we were away. She kept a close eye on anything that seemed even slightly out of the ordinary and always kept us informed. We especially appreciated the many photos and updates she sent each day, which gave us tremendous peace of mind while we were traveling. It was clear that she genuinely cared about our dogs and their well-being. We came home to two happy, comfortable pups, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We would highly recommend Staci to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and attentive pet sitter.

Kelly did an amazing job taking care of my 10-year-old Frenchie, Little Dragon (Cookie). She was very communicative throughout the visit and sent plenty of pictures, which gave me so much peace of mind. Cookie has a specific routine and some care needs, and Kelly handled everything with attention and care. I could tell Cookie was comfortable and in good hands the entire time. I really appreciated the updates and the level of responsibility she showed. I would absolutely book with Kelly again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and thoughtful sitter.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ronkonkoma walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ronkonkoma maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ronkonkoma choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ronkonkoma. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
