“🐾 Penny was a fantastic dog sitter for my two German Shepherds, Jango and Loki, while I was away. She was consistently punctual and incredibly communicative throughout, giving me peace of mind that my boys were in great hands. I really appreciated how attentive she was to their well-being—she kept a close eye on them and made sure they were happy and healthy. Couldn’t have asked for better care! 🐶✨”

“Abby came to meet my dog before her first booking and my dog instantly was her friend. Abby was so friendly and attentive when she met us, and she kept me informed along the way. I felt so comfortable leaving my dog in her care while I was away.”

About: I’ve been around dogs my entire life and have developed a genuine understanding of their needs, personalities, and routines. I’m dependable, attentive, and committed to providing every dog with safe, caring, and enjoyable walks. I am currently not working while focusing on my back care, so I have a flexible schedule and plenty of open availability for pet sitting. I care for pets like they’re my own, following their routines, providing food and fresh water, giving plenty of attention, and keeping them comfortable.
About: My life has been devoted to helping animals of all shapes and sizes! I’m so grateful to have met so many amazing animals in my life, and I can’t wait to meet yours, too! I just finished my PhD in animal behavior (working with raccoons!). I’m between jobs and just moved back to Cincinnati, so I’m excited to meet some new animal friends here! Before that I did my masters degree working with fish, and I have worked in zoos, veterinary hospitals, and with wildlife! As you can guess, I’m comfortable and knowledgeable about animals of all kinds. I promise to treat your pets like my own and work with you to help them have an enriched, happy life! I am comfortable with reactive or anxious dogs who may need more attention on walks and use a positive reinforcement based approach. Also experienced caring for dogs (or cats) who might be anxious, unsure, or even just a little quirky! I love kittens/puppies, seniors and everyone in between! Happy to help if your pet has unique needs, requires medication, or needs extra attention on walks or during visits. I am not comfortable using shock/e-collars, prong collars, or “choke” chains, so if your dog requires these for walks we may not be a good fit. Helicopter dog mom to my own 1.5 year old medium standard poodle who keeps me on my toes! Would love to start working with you and your pet to help them live their best life! I prioritize your animals and am available most days of the week. I work from home and have a flexible schedule. Let me know if you think your dog might enjoy walking with mine and we can do a dog meet and greet too! I’m conscientious about entering your home and promise to triple check locks and doors when I go! I know it is hard to trust a stranger in your home so will openly communicate to help you and your animals feel comfortable!
About: I’ve been handling pets for many many years, have a lot of love to give, knowledge to share, and care to give to your pet, if you need someone reliable to handle your pet while your vacation, or away from home I’m your guy! I work full time, but in the weekends and I am on the weekends at any time and on weekdays I can be available after 7pm-8:30pm I have one small dog, and care for him day in and day out, making sure he always has toys, is entertained, and has a healthy feeding/bathroom schedule. Can provide the same loving care for You pet as well!

“Susan is awesome and so caring! She cares for my pup just like I would! She’s very reliable and follows all the detailed instructions. I am glad to hire her again!”

“Was responsible. Had some personal issues twice and couldn’t come. But made me aware of that. And I was fine since my cats can be unattended for a day or two. But she sent me videos and pictures. Cleaned up any cat mess. Kept everything neat and clean.”

“Saige was absolutely fantastic! Super responsive and professional, and clearly a pet lover! I was in a pinch and contacted her on short notice and she was able to accommodate. Our Zoey pup loved her! Highly recommend!”

“Lauren accommodated a last minute booking for us! We have two cats, one of which can be a bit particular and both need to take pills which Lauren made sure they got. I had also found a kitten right before our last minute trip and Lauren also kept her quarantined and make sure she got her medicine as well. Thanks so much for taking great care of everyone!”

About: Hi, my name is Anna-Leah! I'm currently a sophmore at the University or Arkansas while majoring in Biology. I've had experience with all sorts of pets and have a genuine love for all sorts of animals. Growing up I had always loved pet sitting and it gave me a better of understanding of animals and how to work with them. Working with pets of all different ages from 12 weeks to my grandma's 16 year old Yorkie, I possess a wide range of experience. I can't wait to help so please contact me! I'm working part time during the week usually till 5, but I am flexible with mu hours and can adapt to schedule as needed. The weekends I'm definitely more free with my time, but I'm happy to help whenever! I do leave for college August 5 so I can work up until then! At my house we have a fenced back yard with enough room to run around, along with a dog park within walking distance of my house. I'm comfortable with anything from crate training to potty training.
“Mallory takes such wonderful care of our three girl cats! She sends photos, cleans out their litter box, and takes care of the mail, and water bowls. She usually spends extra time playing with them which I love. Her children are so well behaved and wonderful with our precious girls too. We will definitely be booking Mallory’s services again. Thank you!”

About: I’ve grown up with dogs my entire life. I grew up believing dogs are as much of a family member as I am. They are the greatest gifts on earth and I am so passionate about the goodness dogs bring into our lives. I have recently resigned in my nanny career, I was with this family for almost six years and I am still very close with the family, including their dog, Bailey. I took care of her as much as I took care of the boys. I included her in play, prioritized her health and exercise and taught the boys the importance of loving her and how she shows the boys she loves them. Additionally, last summer, my husband and I chose to take in my family dog of 12 years as our own to help my mom while she frequently traveled. In January he was diagnosed with two terminal cancers and so I made him my highest priority. He was the happiest, most loving and brave dog through his entire battle. We lost him in April and it was one of the hardest experiences I’ve gone through. While I am not ready to adopt a dog of our own yet; that passion for dogs is still apart of me and I believe meeting and caring for other dogs will support my grieving journey. I promise to love and care for your dog(s) as my own. I promise to do what’s best for them and to let them know just how special and loved they are at each visit. I have a lot of flexibility throughout my days, I would love for this to be a part time opportunity for me to feel accomplished and share my time with wonderful dogs. My husband and I love to travel so our weekends can book quickly, but with enough advance notice I’m happy to schedule weekend visits/stays! I care for them as if they are my own. I will love on them and can train and set appropriate boundaries with the parent’s clearance. I am highly respectful - respecting my clients homes and their personal boundaries. I am a dependable communicator and a very understanding and compassionate person.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs for about 10 years, mostly my own (now senior) dogs. I also had a dog who was special needs (partially blind and deaf), and unfortunately passed 3 years ago. I am always open to taking care of your pets! I’m normally the most free every day but Wednesday and do not mind spending the night with your pets! I cannot currently house pets in my own home, but I’m always free to stay at your home! I drive, so only staying for a few hours at a time is also okay. Since I have senior dogs, they often “forget” they went outside, so frequent potty breaks (including in the night) is a must. I also give my dogs medication, so if your pup needs oral medication, I am 100% okay with that.
About: As a dog owner myself, I truly understand how much your pup means to you, they’re family, not just a pet. I currently have an 8-month-old Golden Retriever puppy (Moomin) of my own, so I know firsthand the energy, playfulness, and training that goes into raising a happy, well-adjusted dog. Over the past year, I’ve handled daily walks, feeding, playtime, and all the little routines that keep a dog happy and healthy. I love taking dogs to the park for fresh air, playtime, and socializing with other pups, but I’m just as happy keeping them calm company at home if that’s what they prefer, I adapt to each dog’s personality and energy level. I’m attentive to every little cue, whether it’s excitement, anxiety, or just wanting a belly rub, and I make sure they feel safe, loved, and comfortable the whole time. I also like to keep you updated with quick messages and photos throughout our time together, so you always know your pup is happy, safe, and having a great time. Pet care fits really well into my routine. I’m a full-time software engineer working a hybrid schedule with flexible hours (10 AM–3 PM). I’m typically out of the house on Mondays and Tuesdays, work from home the rest of the weekdays, and I’m completely off on weekends. My schedule is also flexible enough that I can adjust days if needed to match your pup’s needs. On the days I’m home, I have plenty of time for walks, play, and feeding, and I’m usually happy to have a dog keep me company while I work. I regularly cuddle and work alongside my own Golden Retriever puppy, so I’m used to balancing focused work with giving a dog attention, short breaks, and check-ins throughout the day. It means your pup won’t just be looked after, they’ll genuinely have company and companionship all day long. In my own home, I make sure dogs feel comfortable and settled right away, giving them a calm space to relax along with plenty of playtime and cuddles. Since I have my own Golden Retriever puppy, my home is already dog-friendly and set up for a happy, active pet. I take dogs for regular walks and trips to the park, letting them socialize with other dogs when they enjoy it, or keeping things calmer and quieter if that suits them better. I always adapt to each dog’s personality and energy level rather than sticking to one routine for every pet. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I stick closely to their normal routine, feeding schedule, and any specific instructions the owner gives me, so the dog feels as little disruption as possible. I’m attentive to their comfort and cues throughout, and I send regular updates with messages and photos so owners always know how their pup is doing.

Sarah was wonderful! She was reliable, caring, and clearly loves animals. I felt completely comfortable knowing my pet was in her care. She communicated well, was attentive, and made the whole experience easy and stress-free. I would absolutely recommend Sarah to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and kind to care for their pet. I would happily book with her again!
Janet was amazing with my dog Lyla. She was extremely dependable and courteous, and did exactly what was asked and even went above and beyond. And the bonus was Lyla got to meet her dog who is also very sweet. I would highly recommend Janet for any Dog or Pet needs.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
