Esther gave us the valuable gift of peace of mind during our Labor Day weekend getaway. She was very respectful of our home and she was attentive to our furry boy Jeff. She sent pictures of their walks and also pictures of him finally coming around to having a new face in his space. Jeff was happy to see us when we got home, but I also suspect he misses Esther. We will definately be searching for Esther on Rover for our next getaway.

About: I've dog sat for friends for several years and had a variety of pets growing up. I'm good at following directions for a specific pet's care. I work part time remote, so I'm flexible for house sitting or drop-by services. If you happen to have a bird, I can take care of them, too! I have a parakeet who lives in a large cage inside -- he doesn't know how good he has it, LOL! I also cared for a variety of pets growing up.

It was immediately obvious that Amy has had dogs in her entire life. Both of my pups immediately loved her as if they had been good buddies forever. DOGS JUST KNOW! Jojo, the 1 year old Cocker Spaniel, always freaks out with new people, but not with Amy. The 6 1/2 year old German Shepherd, Princess, acted like she had known Amy her whole life.

About: I love all animals and though I am a BIG time cat lover, I’ve also been lucky enough to raise multiple puppy litters with my family. I have my own kitty and puppy now, and have been taking care of family friends animals as a side job for roughly 2 years now! I am currently working a part-time nursing assistant job and so I have ample time on my hands to hangout with all the furry cuties you have, typically throughout the weekdays. I take lots of pride in making sure all pets are safe and cared for, and I’m more than comfortable with crates, fences, etc. to ensure their well-being.

I understand that pets are family, and my goal is to make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I have experience caring for dogs of different ages, personalities, and energy levels, including active dogs who love walks and playtime, as well as pets who need extra patience or special attention. As a nurse, I’m comfortable with medication administration, monitoring for changes in behavior or health, and staying calm in unexpected situations. I’m also a dog owner myself and understand the importance of routine, enrichment, exercise, and plenty of affection. Whether your pet needs a fun adventure, a relaxing visit, or dependable overnight care, I’ll treat them like they’re my own. I currently work per diem as a Registered Nurse, which gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of availability for pet care. I’m able to accommodate a variety of needs, including drop-in visits, walks, and overnight stays. I enjoy staying active and spending time outdoors, so walks, playtime, and enrichment are a natural part of my routine. I’m committed to providing consistent, dependable care and keeping your pet’s normal routine as close to home as possible while you’re away. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and routine are my top priorities. As a Registered Nurse, I’m trained to be observant, responsible, and calm in unexpected situations, and I bring that same attention to detail when caring for your pets. In your home, I will respect your space and follow your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, medications, walks, playtime, and any special instructions you provide. I understand that every pet has different needs and personalities, and I take the time to make them feel comfortable and secure. I have a friendly, well-cared-for dog of my own and understand the importance of a safe environment, positive interactions, exercise, and plenty of affection. Whether I’m stopping by for a visit or staying overnight, I’ll treat your home and your pet with the same care and respect I would want for my own.

About: I have been caring for dogs for most of my life and have 3 years of experience pet sitting for friends, family and community members. I have experience with various dog breeds at all different life stages, all with widely varying needs. I truly love connecting with, being with and caring for animals and derive great satisfaction from developing loving relationships with furry friends. With me, you can rest assured that your loved ones are taken care of with attentiveness, kindness and reverence. I work part-time and am typically unavailable from 1-6pm Monday-Friday. Outside of that time I am happy to be with and care for your loved ones! I only pet-sit in other's homes due to having my own pets. I love people just as much as animals, and as such, do my best to respect other's space, property and boundaries. I abide by campground rules in life meaning I do my best to always leave a space just as I found it, if not better off. I believe communication is very important and I like to connect with clients to discuss all expectations and boundaries in regard to both their animals and their home.

About: I’m an experienced, intuitive dog caregiver who blends calm confidence with playful, genuine affection. I’ve worked with pups of all ages, sizes, and temperaments, and I’m especially skilled at reading body language, easing anxiety, and building trust with shy or energetic dogs. My hospitality background shows up in the way I communicate clearly, stay organized, and anticipate both the dog’s needs and the owner’s peace of mind. Whether it’s maintaining routines, handling medication, managing multi‑dog households, or keeping high‑energy pups happily engaged, I bring steady reliability and a warm, joyful presence that dogs connect with right away. Pet care fits easily into my routine since I work part‑time on weekends and I’m on summer break from school. I have plenty of open time during the week for walks, drop‑ins, and longer visits, and I balance my weekend job with consistent pet‑care hours. This flexibility lets me give each pet focused, reliable attention and maintain steady routines for kittens, senior cats, pregnant cats, and dogs alike. I provide a calm, stress‑free environment for every pet I care for. In my home, I offer a quiet space with no children, a fenced backyard for safe outdoor time, and a relaxed atmosphere where pets can settle in comfortably. When I’m caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow their routines closely, keep their space tidy, and make sure they feel secure and comfortable in their familiar environment. Whether I’m hosting or visiting, I focus on safety, consistency, and creating a peaceful experience for each pet.

We had such a great experience with Sarah! She stayed at our home for four nights with our senior pup, Kuma, and I truly couldn’t have asked for better care. Kuma requires medication and specific feeding instructions, and she handled everything thoughtfully and responsibly. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing our older girl was in capable hands. She sent regular updates, communicated clearly throughout the stay, and took wonderful care of both Kuma and our home. You can tell she’s attentive and genuinely cares about the animals she watches. I would absolutely have her back in a heartbeat and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, compassionate sitter.

FAQs for House Sitting - El Casco

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 2,147 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across El Casco. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred El Casco walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in El Casco maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in El Casco choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in El Casco. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
