“Exceptional Pet Sitter. Tonya was exceptional in her communication and sending pictures daily of our pups. Tonya was punctual in her arrival for her pet sitting and rearranged her departure to accomodate our late afternoon arrival from our holiday break to ensure the energetic pups had one last potty break before our return. Not only did she take care of our pups she left the house spoltess as well. Thanks so much Tonya. We appreciate you taking care of Waddy and Marsh. They had a great time with you.”

“Erica was wonderful! I had her house sit for me with my German Shepard and kitten and she went above and beyond to make sure she knew all of their needs. She stayed with them and gave them lots of attention. She was very good and giving me updates and pictures. I will definitely be using her from now on! Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Very thankful for Vicki taking care of our boy while on vacation. She arrived/left at the agreed upon times and kept in touch which eased my mind when missing him. Highly recommend her!”

“We were so nervous to have a first time in-house dog sitter while away for the weekend. But Jalisa was so wonderful!!! She kept us updated with pictures of play & mealtime. Was incredibly respectful of our home and left it spotless. Our dogs (that can be quite rowdy) were so happy and well taken care of. JaLisa will be the first call we make the next time we need a pet sitter!”

“Graham is an exceptional pet sitter! He took great care of our dog - sent daily, detailed updates. We returned from a week away to a spotless house and very happy dog! Highly recommend Graham’s services - would give him more than 5 stars if I could!!”

“Brandi was so fantastic, she left the place looking better than when she got there and made sure Alice had a great week. Alice got plenty of fetch in, a beach trip and had a great week thanks to Brandi! Will definitely be reaching back out for future travel!”

“Allyson was absolutely fantastic with our pups, and took care of their (many) different needs with attention to detail and lots of love. She was absolutely fantastic with keeping us up to date with anything and everything and we returned home to very well cared for and well loved pups. 10 out of 10 would recommend!”

“Tara did a great job taking care of our two dogs while we were gone for a week! She sent plenty of pics and kept us posted of their status and the local weather on a daily basis. She was very attentive to their needs and we would definitely let her sit for our dogs again in the future!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs all my life, within the past 5 years, i’ve taken to dog sitting for others as well. I love trying to make connections with dogs of all sorts! I generally work Monday through Thursday 8am-5pm. Even still, I try to take off lunch to visit your pup for a quick walk, a potty break, and some quality playtime to break up their day. My Friday through Sunday schedule is completely open for full-time care. My goal is to make it as if the owner never left. I try to go on a walk once a day and play as often as possible. Sometimes though a movie and unwinding the day together on the couch is the best way to bond and relax.
“I can trust that Katelyn will take care of my fur babies while I’m away! She’s responsive and keeps me updated on them throughout the day. She’s very attentive and the pups love spending time with her!”

“Athena is amazing! She went above and beyond in taking care of our dogs. The dogs loved her, we got lots of photo and video updates and she took care of everything at our house while we were away. I would highly recommend Athena!”

“Megan was great. Great communication and quick replies. She covered all our pets needs and more. Our neighbors commented on how friendly she was. The house was clean upon our return. We will definitely have Megan back to sit Riley.”

About: I know that finding someone to care for your dog is nerve-racking and the last thing you need when traveling or having a long day at work is to worry if your dog is safe and happy. Whether you need doggy day care, boarding, or someone to drop by and walk, play with, and feed your pup, you can be assured that your dog will get the VIP treatment and all the attention they deserve! I am a professor with a very flexible schedule. I am only required to be on campus for a couple hours at a time, so I am able to stay home with the pups for most of the day and provide frequent walks, play, and enrichment. I have been pet sitting for 15+ years, and I've always had dogs. My family has had standard poodles since before I was born, and now I have my own 6-year-old brown poodle, Marrón, who loves having dog friends over to visit. Dogs continuously amaze me with their intelligence and affection, and I aim to return all of the love they give to us. Dogs continue to *train me* on how to respect and work with pups to help them be happy and well-adjusted. I understand that each dog is a unique individual, and I love learning the quirks and needs of each dog. I have studied dog behavior and training and use science-based positive reinforcement methods. My goal is to help dogs and humans work as a team. I am comfortable with a wide range of dogs, from puppy to full-grown, small to large, and all breeds. While pet sitting or dog walking, I can help give your dogs the socialization and exercise they need, making sure they work their brains as well as their bodies. I am also happy to support any obedience and habit training that you are working on. I know that a well-exercised puppy or dog is a happy puppy/dog, and so I'm here to help you and your dog be as happy as possible together All potential clients must set up a meet and greet to ensure that my dog, Marrón, and your pooch get along. He is very social, so dogs who do not get along with other dogs would not be a good match. He does well with most dogs, and even if your dog doesn't love to play, he is ok just co-existing. I do separate the dogs periodically throughout the day for downtime and feeding, but I want to ensure that all dogs are comfortable and happy co-existing in the home together. (Please note: My doggie daycare price is for a standard 8-hour workday. For half days or extended hours longer than 8 hours, we will adjust the price accordingly. As a professor, I have a fairly flexible schedule, so I can adjust my schedule around the dogs in my care. I am only required to be on campus for a couple of hours at a time, so I am able to stay home with the pups for most of the day and provide frequent walks, play, and enrichment. While I am home most of the day, I do sometimes leave for a couple of hours, so your dog needs to be comfortable being left alone for brief periods of time, whether in the house or in a crate. My typical schedule with my standard poodle is 6-8am - Long Morning Walk or playing at local dog park. Then breakfast 8am-Midday - Downtime (with pee or play breaks as needed for puppies, seniors, or special needs) Midday - Short walk and play break Afternoon - Downtime (with pee or play breaks as needed for puppies, seniors, or special needs) ~ 4-7pm Long walk and outside play (weather permitting). If it's too hot, then enrichment games and play inside after all dogs have relieved themselves. Dinner Evening chill time and cuddle. Last potty break before bedtime. Your dog will be treated like a member of my family. I do my best to help dogs feel comfortable and like to know what rules and routines they are used to at home, so I can provide that here. I will provide the appropriate walks, exercise, and activities for your pup. Marrón is very active, so we go on at least 2 long walks a day and to the dog park in our complex, in addition to more frequent potty breaks. In addition to the dog park in my complex, I live down the street from a larger dog park, and in a very walkable neighborhood. If your dog is not good with dog parks, we will go on walks and find other ways to get them safe exercise and enrichment! I live in a 2br, 2-story apartment, which is set up for maximum dog fun and safety. I can gate off each room to give the dogs their own space, and I tend to do so periodically during the day to give them breaks from playing and to let them eat and nap in peace. I do not take more than 2 dogs at a time, and only when I know that they will get along. So your dog will get lots of attention. If your dog is crate-trained, I can set your crate up in my house, in my bedroom or in my living room, based on your preference. I also have two crates that I can set up for your dog if they are comfortable in crates other than their own.
About: My jack, Russell terrier, Chili passed away in August of 2022. The house feels empty without a dog running around, but I’m not quite ready to be a full-time permanent mom just yet. However, I would love to take care of your loved one in My Home, and the house would not feel so empty. I have a fenced in yard. It’s not very big but plenty of room for a small, medium dog. I make your pet my first priority. I used to work from home and that was great because I was able to be with the pups all day and night. I now will be in the office on most week days. I do not work far from home so if needed, I can pop in at lunchtime. I have a fenced yard. Your fur babies are welcome on my furniture and the bed but if you prefer them to be crated, that is fine too.
About: Hi there, I’ve been caring for dogs for over 30 years and I love what I do. I’ve looked after pups of all breeds, sizes and personalities - from playful puppies to senior sweethearts- I’ve never had a single problem or unhappy client. Im also a proud parent myself of two adorable Shih Tzus and understand how important it is to find someone you can trust to care for your furry family members. Whether it’s daily drop ins, weekend stays or just extra love and attention while you are away, I’ll treat your pets as if they were my own. I am available and ready to spend time with your furry family members on short notice. Looking forward to many fun filled days with your pets. I will take care of your pets as if they were mine. We will form a loving bond and enjoy our time together while waiting for your return.
About: I have been taking care of dogs since I was little. We always had a dog growing up and he was primarily my responsibility. Once I moved out of home, I immediately got a dog of my own - he has since passed of old age, but, about a year ago, I adopted a little puppy from a rescue and she is the absolute light of my life! I still look after my parents 2 doodles, and my brothers 2 huskies from time to time. I have a tun of experience with dogs of all temperaments and sizes, and truly have a bleeding heart when it comes to these precious animals. What did we ever do to deserve them? I work part time from home so I have pretty decent open availability! Which my pup loves - more cuddles!! I love having more time to spend with her and look forward to spending it meeting new 4 legged friends 🧡 At my apartment I have a fenced in dog area that I take my little one to. She loves to be able to just run around and let loose. She is great with other dogs and is always looking for a new friend. She definitely gets lonely sometimes here all by herself. We go over to my dads a lot so she can play with his dogs. It's basically her world and I'm just living in it. I let her on the bed and furniture, because life is too short for these guys - and I don't mind doing laundry a little more often!

FAQs for House Sitting - Edisto Island
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 1,297 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Edisto Island. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Edisto Island walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Edisto Island maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Edisto Island choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
