“Tonya took great care of our dogs and kept me posted every day. She sent the best pictures and they were definitely well cared for. She will be my go to pet sitter from now on.”

“Highly recommend Vicki. Communicated and sent pictures regularly. House was clean and she even put clean sheets on our bed since we were coming in late and tired! I doubt our Zoe even missed us. We hope to use her again this summer if she’ll come back!!”

“Jess has watched my dog several times now and has been amazing every single time. Dependable, loving, and truly someone you can trust with your pet and home.”
“Erika went over and beyond for me and my baby. She was extremely attentive, alerted me to a rash that turns badly really fast and now he is on antibiotics. Very thorough, lots of updates and pictures. Could not have had a better person take care of your babies.”
“Sophie and Jacob were amazing with our five needy animals when we went out of town for a week! We got tons of awesome photos and updates and they left the house spotless. I'd definitely recommend them!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs all my life, within the past 5 years, i’ve taken to dog sitting for others as well. I love trying to make connections with dogs of all sorts! I generally work Monday through Thursday 8am-5pm. Even still, I try to take off lunch to visit your pup for a quick walk, a potty break, and some quality playtime to break up their day. My Friday through Sunday schedule is completely open for full-time care. My goal is to make it as if the owner never left. I try to go on a walk once a day and play as often as possible. Sometimes though a movie and unwinding the day together on the couch is the best way to bond and relax.

“Graham stayed in our house for a week while we were traveling. He came for a meet and greet in advance and was extremely gentle with our dog Pippin, who is usually quite skittish around men. Graham was very flexible with his arrival time the day we left and helped ensure we’d make our early flight. He sent us multiple updates and photos each day and left our house spotless. Not to mention that he played violin for Pip, who became so comfortable with Graham that he ended up sleeping beside him at night. We will definitely book with Graham again!”

“Allyson was absolutely fantastic with our pups, and took care of their (many) different needs with attention to detail and lots of love. She was absolutely fantastic with keeping us up to date with anything and everything and we returned home to very well cared for and well loved pups. 10 out of 10 would recommend!”

“Katelyn was absolutely phenomenal with my senior dog and cat. I’d highly recommend her and would absolutely use her services again. Very communicative, kind and responsible. She took care of my senior dog’s mobility needs as well :)”
“Athena is amazing! She went above and beyond in taking care of our dogs. The dogs loved her, we got lots of photo and video updates and she took care of everything at our house while we were away. I would highly recommend Athena!”

“Highly, highly recommend Megan! Megan cared for our dog, like he was her own for the last week. She sent tons of pictures along the way, so we could see he was happy! She took him on adventures (which we said was great to do), walks, and lots of cuddles. She also helped with a shipment of frozen dog food that was supposed to arrive before we left. Our dog was sad to see her leave. We’ll definitely use Megan again!”

“Madison took great care of my old pups and my home while we were away. They can be anxious but she was very communicative and I didn’t have any worries. We would definitely book her again if we need.”

About: I know that finding someone to care for your dog is nerve-racking and the last thing you need when traveling or having a long day at work is to worry if your dog is safe and happy. Whether you need doggy day care, boarding, or someone to drop by and walk, play with, and feed your pup, you can be assured that your dog will get the VIP treatment and all the attention they deserve! I am a professor with a very flexible schedule. I am only required to be on campus for a couple hours at a time, so I am able to stay home with the pups for most of the day and provide frequent walks, play, and enrichment. I have been pet sitting for 15+ years, and I've always had dogs. My family has had standard poodles since before I was born, and now I have my own 6-year-old brown poodle, Marrón, who loves having dog friends over to visit. Dogs continuously amaze me with their intelligence and affection, and I aim to return all of the love they give to us. Dogs continue to *train me* on how to respect and work with pups to help them be happy and well-adjusted. I understand that each dog is a unique individual, and I love learning the quirks and needs of each dog. I have studied dog behavior and training and use science-based positive reinforcement methods. My goal is to help dogs and humans work as a team. I am comfortable with a wide range of dogs, from puppy to full-grown, small to large, and all breeds. While pet sitting or dog walking, I can help give your dogs the socialization and exercise they need, making sure they work their brains as well as their bodies. I am also happy to support any obedience and habit training that you are working on. I know that a well-exercised puppy or dog is a happy puppy/dog, and so I'm here to help you and your dog be as happy as possible together All potential clients must set up a meet and greet to ensure that my dog, Marrón, and your pooch get along. He is very social, so dogs who do not get along with other dogs would not be a good match. He does well with most dogs, and even if your dog doesn't love to play, he is ok just co-existing. I do separate the dogs periodically throughout the day for downtime and feeding, but I want to ensure that all dogs are comfortable and happy co-existing in the home together. (Please note: My doggie daycare price is for a standard 8-hour workday. For half days or extended hours longer than 8 hours, we will adjust the price accordingly. As a professor, I have a fairly flexible schedule, so I can adjust my schedule around the dogs in my care. I am only required to be on campus for a couple of hours at a time, so I am able to stay home with the pups for most of the day and provide frequent walks, play, and enrichment. While I am home most of the day, I do sometimes leave for a couple of hours, so your dog needs to be comfortable being left alone for brief periods of time, whether in the house or in a crate. My typical schedule with my standard poodle is 6-8am - Long Morning Walk or playing at local dog park. Then breakfast 8am-Midday - Downtime (with pee or play breaks as needed for puppies, seniors, or special needs) Midday - Short walk and play break Afternoon - Downtime (with pee or play breaks as needed for puppies, seniors, or special needs) ~ 4-7pm Long walk and outside play (weather permitting). If it's too hot, then enrichment games and play inside after all dogs have relieved themselves. Dinner Evening chill time and cuddle. Last potty break before bedtime. Your dog will be treated like a member of my family. I do my best to help dogs feel comfortable and like to know what rules and routines they are used to at home, so I can provide that here. I will provide the appropriate walks, exercise, and activities for your pup. Marrón is very active, so we go on at least 2 long walks a day and to the dog park in our complex, in addition to more frequent potty breaks. In addition to the dog park in my complex, I live down the street from a larger dog park, and in a very walkable neighborhood. If your dog is not good with dog parks, we will go on walks and find other ways to get them safe exercise and enrichment! I live in a 2br, 2-story apartment, which is set up for maximum dog fun and safety. I can gate off each room to give the dogs their own space, and I tend to do so periodically during the day to give them breaks from playing and to let them eat and nap in peace. I do not take more than 2 dogs at a time, and only when I know that they will get along. So your dog will get lots of attention. If your dog is crate-trained, I can set your crate up in my house, in my bedroom or in my living room, based on your preference. I also have two crates that I can set up for your dog if they are comfortable in crates other than their own.
“Megan watched our dog for 4 nights and was AMAZING!! We have a very high energy GSP puppy that Megan took for plenty of long walks and exercise. She gave us updates and pictures of our dog every day and was so easy to get ahold of. It was our first time using rover so we were very hesitant but she did an outstanding job and we would recommend her to everyone. Our dog was even sad to say goodbye to her.”

About: I'm excited to meet you and help take care of your furry loved ones! I have two cats of my own and love spending time with animals. I look forward to learning your pets' routines and quirks and, of course, capturing some photos to share while you're away. I know the hardest part of being away from home is missing your favorite family members and I will care for them as if they're my own. In addition to dogs, I have experience with cats, hamsters, rats, mice, chinchillas, guinea pigs, lizards, turtles, and small snakes. Whatever your need, I've got you! I currently have a very flexible schedule. I'm available for one off visits and would also love to become a regular contact for folks who need to travel often or work long hours. It takes a village to care for our families and I'm happy to help. While your home is the safest and most comfortable place for your pet, I'm sure they'll be missing you while you're away. I understand it can take time for them to open up and be comfortable with someone new. I am patient, gentle, and quiet. Your pets' comfort is my first priority. In addition to their play and care routines, I'm happy to water your plants, check your mail, or help in any other way I can.

About: My jack, Russell terrier, Chili passed away in August of 2022. The house feels empty without a dog running around, but I’m not quite ready to be a full-time permanent mom just yet. However, I would love to take care of your loved one in My Home, and the house would not feel so empty. I have a fenced in yard. It’s not very big but plenty of room for a small, medium dog. I make your pet my first priority. I used to work from home and that was great because I was able to be with the pups all day and night. I now will be in the office on most week days. I do not work far from home so if needed, I can pop in at lunchtime. I have a fenced yard. Your fur babies are welcome on my furniture and the bed but if you prefer them to be crated, that is fine too.

FAQs for House Sitting - Edisto Island
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 1,293 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Edisto Island. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Edisto Island walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Edisto Island maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Edisto Island choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
