About: I’ve had pets since I was a kid and have always had a very large role in taking care of them. I love animals of every kind, and always have so much fun taking care of them. I’ve watched my family and friend’s animals many times, and always make sure to send lots of updates on how they are doing, as well as providing the best care! I have worked at a vet hospital as a receptionist, and in that role have had a lot of hands on experience with animals. It taught me how to work with every animal, and was one of my favorite jobs. I’m currently working as a substitute teacher, and am usually able to make my own schedule, which gives me the flexibility for all of your pets needs! I always make sure to read all care instructions through so that I can understand them so that your pet is getting the best care possible. I also am someone who will always take a gentle approach with your pet, creating trust between us. That trusting relationship is very important for all situations. I will always respect your space, making sure to leave it exactly how I found it!
“Paul was amazing with our brood of 3 dogs and 1 cat. Everyone loved him, even our very people shy cat. He took great care, was good with communication, and the house was nice and clean when we returned. We’ll be using Paul again in the future for housesitting!”

About: I love animals and have over 20 years of animal care experience from growing up in a home with cats, dogs, horses, and doing lots of pet sitting over the years as well! I have also worked and volunteered at a few animal rescues, including a rabbit rescue, a feral cat sanctuary, and a rescue donkey farm! My elderly dog recently passed and the house has been empty and I would love to board and care for pets at least until I'm ready for another pet of my own! I am an artist and yoga teacher so I am home most of the day. I have plenty of time and plenty of love to give to all the furbabies. I have a house and a fenced in yard and live in a nice area to take walks around. My home is clean and dog friendly.
“Miakoda house sat for us and cared for our two large dogs. She communicated well, and we trusted our dogs and house were in good hands. We are very happy and would recommend her services!”

About: I've been able to provide medication to pets and I know how to specify a pets needs based on their age and energy levels. I am flexible with hours and very dependable and accommodate all ages of pets. I am very flexible and am able to be available when needed. I can make my schedule work around the needs of my clients. I help to take care of friends and family pets on a regular basis as well. Paying attention to their needs, their age and what the pet owners are asking me to do. Making sure the pets are comfortable and remembering I am coming into their space so being respectful is super important.
“Veronica house sat for us and she did a super job with the animals, including giving medicine for our older dog. Would use her again and hope to have her back when ever we go away.”

“Rebecca was amazing! The dogs love her so much they’re still looking for her in the guest room hoping to find her! We enjoyed our vacation so much more knowing they were in good hands”
“Caitlynn is GREAT. She saved me in a pinch when I had another sitter back out mid-sit while I was away for a funeral. Caitlynn is responsive, professional, and kind. My two huskies love her, she’s great with following instructions and being flexible if needed. I will rebook Caitlynn anytime and highly recommend her services. If I was a millionaire I’d reserve her full time for myself LOL. Thanks Caitlyn!”

“Thank you Lillian, for taking Finley at the last minute for us. Finley seemed to really like you and you kept us updated throughout your visit with him including pics!! We will definitely call on you again to watch Finley!! Many thanks!”

“Ariel watched our dogs for two days. She left the apartment very clean, and took great care of our guys. She sent texts all day long, which we loved! We would definitely hire Ariel again!”

About: I have tons of personal experience with my own childhood dogs as well as all dogs that I know through my friends, family friends, coworkers etc. whether your dog wants to snooze the day away or walk for miles on end and sniffing everything in sight, I’m happy to offer my time and attention for your fur baby to be 110% taken care of when you’re away. I also fully believe anyone on vacation should be able to enjoy their time away without excessive texts from a sitter—so unless you want extensive updates, I would only contact you if it was absolutely necessary/urgent. If you want daily updates, I’m happy to do so because I know I enjoy some cute pics of my cats snoozing away in the sun on days I go to the office! I work remotely and depending on your needs and distance, I am available for mid day drop ins. If given enough time to plan ahead, I can also be available to work remotely from your home to keep your pets company in your absence. I’m extremely flexible—willing to stay overnight or just do day time visits. I always like to schedule a meet & greet beforehand for any service. At this time, I do not offer any services from my own home since I rent and have 4 cats of my own that would definitely not enjoy extra visitors. I’m happy to conduct any services from your home. Again, I always like to schedule a meet & greet beforehand for any service. For home stays, I also prefer 1 emergency contact that lives close by and the address/phone number for the vet your animals see. In return, I’m available for your 24/7 during the services you have trusted me with 😁

Drop in but long walks only Until 8:00pm. My home is very quiet, clean and lots of things would need to be put away for a puppy. About: Hi there, I just started sitting dogs! I have done this myself for many years and friends often leave their pets with me. I am looking to get to know your pets and create a ton of new connections with clients. I’m a teacher who loves to fill my extra time with animals. I love all pets and animals and I have two small dogs myself. I’m flexible in the services and times please let me know how I can help. I live in Saratoga but I’m willing to travel to surrounding areas for your pets. I have grown up with pets my entire life and feel comfortable with cats, dogs and other animals. My favorite thing to do is take the dogs out for a walk, play fetch and just getting them active. If you have any special requests for your dog or pet I can certainly make sure that these are accommodated. Thanks for looking! I prefer to work after 4, so afternoon walks, let out, or overnight stays. I can also make myself available on the weekends, early in the morning and later at night. If is it multiple days, then I can coordinate to make sure the pets are getting the playtime and outside time that they need. I love to care for all pets. I prefer to take care of the pets at the owners home where the dogs is more comfortable. Let me know if there are cases where the dog would stay with my two.

Paul was great with our dogs, cat and home. All was peaceful and calm when we arrived back home, he kept in touch, and I have confidence that they got all the walks and hikes that they are used to/need. Best house/animal care and experience I have had - truly. Enjoyed his company too...

FAQs for House Sitting - Edinburg
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 282 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Edinburg. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Edinburg walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Edinburg maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Edinburg choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Edinburg. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
