I also spend time taking dogs from Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS) out on field trips, giving them a chance to get out of the shelter, explore, play, and get some much-deserved one-on-one attention. I have a soft spot for the pets who need a little extra patience. One of my dogs is extremely anxious and terrified of thunderstorms, so I understand that not every dog immediately warms up to a new person — and that’s okay! I’m happy to take things at their pace and learn what makes them feel comfortable and safe.
