“I can’t say enough good about Chrissy. Not only did she take excellent care of our dog, she sent daily pictures and videos (and we were gone for two weeks). It was very much appreciated. If I could give her more than five stars, I would. Thank you so much Chrissy.”

“Our dog Cookie always has a good time at Jack’s! He takes great care of her. We had a last-minute trip this weekend and he was able to accommodate us. We really appreciate his flexibility.”

“This is our 3rd or 4th time booking with John and he never disappoints! He is always such a pleasure and was even able to help us out last minute AND over a holiday weekend! He takes such great care of our elderly dog who usually doesn’t do well in new environments. We are so thankful to have found John :)”

“Kathleen took excellent care of my chihuahua, Cody. Over the course of a month, I boarded him with her a few times each week, and I always felt confident he was in great hands. She was responsive, kind, and incredibly patient, not just with my (very energetic!) chihuahua 🙃, but with me as well. I’m so grateful for the care she provided and would highly recommend Kathleen to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter.”

“We had a wonderful experience with Bailey watching Rip and Thor. She communicated well throughout their stay, kept us updated, and clearly took great care of them. She gave them good walks and played with them regularly, and it was obvious they enjoyed spending time with her. Both dogs were happy and comfortable the whole time. We would definitely book Bailey again and highly recommend her!”

“Took great care of my pup! Was willing to accommodate his special needs. Received lots of updates and pictures. My pup had a great time and was well loved. Will be booking again in the future.”

“I've finally found the best sitter. Heidi and her family took my dog Romeo into her home for a weekend and treated him with love and respect. She sent me updates and pictures of Romeo throughout the day. There were other pets at her place that Romeo got along with very well. I can tell he made some great buddies. She even cooked rice for him(Romeo loves rice) and gave him treats! Communication was great from start to end. I think my Romeo boy misses her already. Thanks Heidi!!!”

“Mery and Brad looked after my greyhound Nadia for a few nights and they did a marvelous job! Setting up Nadia's stay was very easy and my messages were replied to promptly. I was also kept updated throughout her stay. Nadia was obviously happy and well looked after when I went to pick her up; I would definitely recommend Mery and Brad to anyone looking for caring and wonderful dog sitters!”
“I had a last min trip coming up and had to find a sitter who offers boarding. To me, the location and also the house setting where my dog will be staying were very important. I found Catherine who lives 2 miles away from me. Met her and the entire family the next day for meet and greet and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Catherine was kind, reliable, and super attentive. She sent regular updates and cute photos, which made me feel totally at ease while I was away. My dog came home happy, relaxed, and clearly well-loved. I’ll definitely be booking with Catherine again! Thank you.”

“Definitely recommend Chris & Lindsey. This was my 1st time using Rover and I was nervous. They communicated with me frequently throughout the day and kept my mind at ease! If the need arises again I will absolutely book again with them”

“Lauren was great to work with. Our dog stayed with her for a few days while we traveled out of town and he looked great in his pictures. You could tell he was right at home.”

“Very responsive. Provided updates and pictures. Theo enjoyed his time and received a ton of attention from Chris and Jia. When we're out of town again we will be reaching out.”

“Mary was amazing to work with! She is very accommodating, even on short notice. Our dog had a comfortable stay in her home and seemed very happy in her care! Highly recommend using Mary’s services!”

“Camilla was the best at caring for my dog. She had him playing with other nice dogs and spent lots of time snuggling with him on the couch. He looked so comfortable, and he got lots of outdoor and pool time. Her family was so sweet and left a nice card when my dog came back.”

“Katie was amazing. I have 2 hounds that are a handful and I get nervous leaving them anywhere because it takes a very patient person to deal with them at times! She sent pics and updates and I truly felt comfortable the whole time they were with her and her son. Will be booking her everytime we head upstate.”

“This weekend was Marloe’s first stay with Lori and I would say he had a blast! Lori was communicative throughout the entire stay. There were a few other pups staying throughout the weekend and I was impressed with lotus logistics of handling all of that. My pup came home tired and happy from his long weekend with various friends. As an apartment dweller he doesn’t get to roam outside as often as I would like so this was a treat for him. Thank you!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - East Line
Boarded my dog for 5 days. It was my first occasion to try leaving him. He appeared to fit in immediately. Maegan provided pics each day which helped reduce my own anxiety. I really had no idea of what to expect but she walked me through how the days would go with my dog and the other dogs being boarded. The real proof was how my dog would respond in the days after he returned. I feared he would be sad or depressed for leaving him. However, when he came back and was as happy as ever. To me that means he was cared for and enjoyed the other dogs. I would send him to Maegan for future stays.

My dog Mojo stayed with Rebecca and her family for a week while I was on vacation and she was incredible! She followed all of my instructions, made sure my dog was always in a comfortable environment, and sent frequent updates and photos which I really appreciated. Mojo was happy and healthy when I picked him up, thank you Rebecca!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their East Line home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your East Line.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your East Line sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
