“We needed to go away for the day a week after getting a new rescue dog. Karen was a life-saver! She came to our home every 4 hours to care for our pups, sent pictures, and left detailed notes in the app. There were NO potty accidents, and our dogs were well cared for. Karen has great instincts and obviously loves dogs. I would highly reccomend her!”

“Ashlyn did an incredible job of taking care of my senior cat while I was away for over a week. She made sure to provide daily updates/photos, and spend lots of time with her. Highly recommended!”

About: Dogs and Cats are basically my life, I have always loved and worked with animals growing up. I currently have a 9 year old Blue Nose Pittie at home as well as 5 year old Domestic Cat and 1 year old Domestic Cat! I love all breeds and sizes! I worked at East Greenbush Animal hospital for 3 years and although I have a new job, through working there I have gained experience not only through my animals but others as well. I love going on walks with dogs and letting them have the most fun they can! Whether your pet is down to earth, hyper off the walls or in the middle, I’d love to be able to visit and help out! I can not stay over night with your pets, but can let them out in the morning and evenings! I am looking forward to seeing all the dogs and cats Thanks! I can go before my work in the mornings, during the late afternoon once I am off work, and later at night to help with your pets. I always make sure your pets are comfortable in the environment they are in, keeping them safe and at peace is a huge roll while sitting.
“Merissa and Nick are the best pet sitters I have ever had, because they care and go above and beyond!! Besides the very helpful daily updates on my cat’s food, drink, litter box usage and general behavior, they sent me some of the greatest photos and videos of Hodge, many showing them playing with my very social fur baby. When I returned home after a 10-day trip, the house was immaculate and my mail and newspapers were neatly piled up on the kitchen counter. I knew that with Merissa and Nick my cat was getting the best care possible and was very happy, which gave me complete peace of mind to enjoy my vacation.”

“Juliana was a fantastic dog sitter ! She was really prompt with communication, sent pictures of my pets, and overall was incredibly professional. She also let me know when small accidents happened, like when my dog knocked over a houseplant while he was playing or when he chewed on his leash. She was patient and did GREAT with my large, high energy 2 year old poodle. I’m very grateful to have a resource like her nearby and I look forward to hiring her again”

“Sophia did a great job caring for our two cats for a week while we were on vacation! She was great at sending updates, including pictures and videos, and made my shy kitties comfortable. I highly recommend Sophia!”

“Laney did a great job stopping in to take care of my cat! Did exactly what I asked. I didn’t have to worry while I was away as I knew my cat was in good hands. Will definitely be re-booking!”
“Ashley arrived on time, and took great care of the cats. She feed them, and played with them. Checked and cleaned the litter. She cleaned out the wet cat food cans, as requested, and made sure their food and water was full and clean.”

“Katie was amazing! She is incredibly kind and the fur babies loved her. She gave detailed recaps of her visits and went above and beyond while we were away. 🐾”

“Barbara was extremely great with my 2 cats. They usually aren’t friendly and like to hide but they warmed up to her! You can tell she really cares! I’ll definitely rebook for my next vacation!”

About: I have been working at a local animal hospital for the past four years but loving animals for much longer! Growing up, I was always the person that would volunteer to watch friends and family member’s pets. When I started working at the animal hospital, I was introduced to clients who needed at-home pet sitting/walking and realized how much joy comes from directly interacting with pets in a comfortable environment. I have experience with dogs of all shapes and sizes and I am able to administer most medications. I understand the stress of being away from your fur-baby so I am committed to help easing that stress by communicating well and treating your pet like my own. As a bonus, I have always been involved with photography so I make sure to send plenty of photos! My schedule at the animal hospital varies week to week but if I am working, I am still able to take care of your pet in the morning before work, during my lunch break and after my shifts. I am currently reducing my hours to dedicate more time to pet sitting so it is flexible! If possible, I do like to do a meet and greet ahead of time for all new pets. This allows me to walk through their routine with you and make sure I know what each pet’s quirks so that I can tailor a plan to ensure they are in a safe environment. Some dogs can be trusted to be alone but some cannot and that’s okay! I am flexible and can make adjustments based on the pets needs. If the dog stays at my home, it is kept tidy with nothing left out that can be snatched by a naughty puppy (AKA mine! LOL). I also have a fenced in yard that’s perfect for playing in and I am near walking trails. The dog will need to be friendly with other dogs and cats in order to be boarded at my home.
About: I’ve had cats my entire life and a dog since I was ten. I’ve also been volunteering at animal shelters since the beginning of 2024! I have a calm energy which is great for putting anxious pets at ease. I have the most experience with small dogs but love dogs of all sizes! I have the most availability on weekends but I have no problem making weeknight visits to provide your pets with the care they deserve! I have my own car so transportation is not an issue. Pet safety whether out and about or in your home is my top priority! I am careful to observe animal body language so I can better know when to give a pet space or remove them from a distressing situation. If you have any care or safety concerns that are specific to your home or pet, do not hesitate to let me know!
“This was our first experience using Rover so I was a bit nervous. I contacted Julia and she came over for a meet and greet a few days ahead of time. She took excellent care of our two cats who are older and cranky at times. Julia was great! I loved getting the updates and pictures after each visit. That totally put my mind at ease. I would not hesitate to hire her again! Very happy customer!”

“Steph (Net) really stepped up for my family during a tough time. Our dog Luna passed right before a family vacation. We felt guilty leaving our other pup, Howie but Steph spoiled him rotten. He got so many treats, kisses, and walks under her care. There are not enough words to thank her for giving him comfort during this transition. She is kind, punctual, and leaves the best report cards after each visit!”

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
