“Louise took great care of my kitties! She came each day, gave them outside time on the deck, and left my kitchen spotless. She rinsed the food tins out and put them in the recycling. She also found my broom and swept around the litter boxes. I didn't expect either of these, and I appreciated the extra effort. I had peace of mind as I traveled, knowing she was visiting them daily, giving them pets and love.”

About: As a lifelong animal lover, I’ve had dogs, cats, Guinea pigs, and others my whole life. I’m good with pets of all size! I have a Aussie, two 18 year old cats, and an orange boy who started out as a stray. With senior kitties and an Aussie who has separation anxiety, I know how stressful it can be to leave your babies with someone else! Looking forward to meeting you and taking care of your pets! I work from home, so my schedule is pretty flexible! I can usually fit visits around your pet’s normal routine, whether they need a morning check-in, afternoon company, or an evening visit. I’m very patient with animals, especially when they’re shy or nervous around someone new. I’ll let your pets warm up at their own pace, follow your care instructions, and make sure everything is secure before I leave.
“I actually thought I had already left one. But I’ll definitely reply again. Lindsey was very good with all the kitties. Finally was able to get the kitten to lose some of his shyness. She was always timely and sent pics of them in their spaces. I’d definitely like to use her again.”

About: I am need of full time employment and have been pet sitting for friends and family for over ten years now. I absolutely love dogs and spending time with them because their love is unconditional. I grew up helping take care of my family's dog for about fourteen years and then helped raise a puppy who is turning ten in October. I enjoy being around dogs and playing with them so I feel like this is going to be the right gig for me. I am very positive and outgoing and love spending time outside. I'm currently unemployed and hoping to pick up as many gigs as I can to get a new routine started as I settled in a new location. I adjust based on the animal's needs. Some dogs I've watched have been incredibly more active and needing of attention than others, as well as cats. It's all about hearing what the owner needs for their pets while they're away to ease any anxiety they have of leaving them.
About: Hi, I'm Aarya! I've walked dogs for [number] years and have a 5-year-old beagle of my own, so I know how much a good walk means to a dog and how much it matters to know they're in safe hands. On every walk, I: Keep your dog on a secure leash and stay alert to traffic, other dogs, and anything they shouldn't eat Walk at your dog's pace, whether that's a long sniffy stroll or a higher-energy run Send photo updates and a quick note on how the walk went Follow your instructions on routes, treats, and routines I'm calm and comfortable handling the unexpected, like a dog that pulls, gets spooked, or slips a collar. I'd be happy to do a free meet-and-greet so you and your dog can get to know me first. Message me anytime! I work a regular 8 to 5 schedule Monday through Friday, so I'm available for pet care on weekday evenings and all day on weekends. That works well for after-work walks and evening drop-in visits, and I'm flexible on weekends and holidays for longer visits or walks at any time of day. I'm happy to work around your pet's routine and send updates after every visit For dog walks, I pick up your dog at your home and keep them on a secure leash the whole time. I stay alert to traffic, other dogs, and anything they shouldn't eat, and I walk at your dog's pace, whether that's a slow sniffy stroll or something more energetic. I follow your instructions on routes, treats, and routines, bring water if needed, and always clean up after your dog. Afterward, I send a photo and a quick note on how the walk went. For cat sitting, I visit your home to care for your cat in their own space, which is usually the least stressful option for cats. I feed them and refresh their water the way you like it, scoop the litter box, and spend time playing or cuddling depending on what your cat enjoys. I check that they seem healthy and comfortable, make sure doors and windows stay secure, and send a photo and update after each visit. For both services, I do a free meet-and-greet first so your pet can get comfortable with me. I'll follow your routines closely and contact you right away if anything seems off.
About: I have been working with animals for the past five years, I have taken care of dogs, cats, and lizards. I have worked with disabled animals too Due to how my week operates, I am completely flexible. I can drop in weekdays and weekends, you and your pets are my number one priority. Your animal is safe with me; you don't have to worry. I aim to make open and transparent communication my top priority. If something goes wrong or your animal gets sick I will always contact you.

About: I grew up with all sorts of animals at home and raised my own after college. I grew up caring for neighbors pets and use to watch clients dogs during my summer vacation in college. I also volunteered at shelters over the years. I am currently staying with family to help out after a minor surgery. I have a flexible schedule at this time. In the future I may have other jobs come up. I prefer to stay where the animal is most comfortable, their own home. I also offer visits verse overnight stays for clients comfort. My priority is to make sure your precious pet has the proper care while you are away some you can be focused on your trip knowing everything is good at home.

About: Rescuing dogs — especially puppies — is the most rewarding feeling in life. The most important thing with our furry friends is consistency. If you're stricter with your dog, you need a sitter who'll uphold those rules, not let them slide. I've taken care of dogs and cats for friends and family for years, and I've learned that it's not about what I want — it's about honoring what the owner has built with their pet. I work with the public in my day job, so patience is second nature to me. Pets are no different. They need someone who can read their energy, stay calm, and meet them where they're at. I also love running and playing with animals. Exercise is huge — but I get that a walk isn't always about distance. Sometimes they need to run. Sometimes they need to stop and smell everything. I match their pace, not mine. I don't know if anything really sets me apart from other sitters. I just genuinely want to be there for the furry family member. My availability in inconsistent due to Firefighting but I will always respond as soon as I'm able too. I understand due to my schedule I won't the best sitter for if you need someone daily, but if you need someone to drop-in, walk your dog, or just need a night out, feel free to leave a message. Currently working for a fire department, schedule can be inconsistent. Great for drop in play times and walks. Days off from fire department can be great for unexpected care. Currently unable to have pets in home due to renting rules. Will make sure to confirm and follow all rules with you before accepting the job.
About: I have grooming, training, & boarding experience. I’m experienced in administering medications; pills, eye drops, shots, etc. Animals are my peace so I’d love to give a peace of mind to others😊 I’m available full time, there are currently 6 dogs & 2 cats in my house & the pups get outside about 3-5 times a day depending on the weather. I also have a 3 year old whos with me 3 days out of the week. I have a fenced in yard, all of my pups & my sisters are crated when not supervised. I would prefer crates brought when staying with me just for safety reasons! & if I were to watch your pup in your hone they’d get the same love & care they receive from you😊
About: I have owned pets for over 8 years; both dogs and cats. I have little experience with dogs under 1 year old, but I am responsible and diligent so I believe that I can handle dogs under 1 if I am given the chance. I have dog sit for a couple that had 4 dogs, and they were all over 50 pounds, so I am good at handling multiple dogs. I have never been hired to take care of a cat, but I have lived with cats for over 10 years, so I know how to take care of them. I love both dogs and cats, and I am excited to meet your four-legged friends! I currently do not have a job due to the fact that I am in school. I have class on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 2 pm, so any scheduling would have to work around that. I am available all day on any other day to dog walk, pet sit during the day, or overnight. I am very attentive when it comes to taking care of anyone's pets, and I treat them as if they were my own. I love to play with cats or dogs indoor or outdoor. I will keep a very close eye on them whether I am staying overnight, or just dog walking.

“I truly don’t have enough words to describe how wonderful our experience with Alex was. We were on vacation with our fur baby, and from our initial meet-and-greet to the thoughtful picture updates he sent during his visit, everything exceeded expectations. He even went out of his way to come to our cabin and walk her while we were out exploring. If you’re looking for someone in the Asheville, NC area, I highly recommend him!”

About: I have had pets my entire life and grew up on a small farm with dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, ducks, and even sometimes quail! I am currently a full-time mom of 1 human child and 3 of the four legged variety. I have cared for a variety of different dog breeds and temperament's. I’m very active and would love to get your dogs outside on walks, runs, or hikes. I have always treated our animals like part of the family and I will treat your pet with the same love, respect, and kindness that I give to my own. My rates reflect quality - but affordable - pet care. I send a lot of picture updates throughout the day in order to set your mind at ease - I know how hard it can be to leave your pet while you're away! I have a very flexible schedule since I am a stay at home mom! Just let me know your current needs and I can likely accommodate most schedules. I am currently not boarding or watching pets in my home, but I will make sure your pet is safe and comfortable in their own space. I offer to do long dog walks and play-time so that they go home tired at the end of the day!

I find this keeps the excitement and stress level down for all dogs staying. If you want to see the accommodations, I can do a video tour with you. I also post videos and pics to my social media so you can see what your dog is up to during there stay.***

Since I just graduated and don't have another job currently I'm free at most times and would love to be of service to you. I will give my undivided attention to make sure your animal is happy and well cared for. I can take your dog to the dog park, and if you want I can bring my dog over for them to play. When I was caring for my aunts Diabetic cat I had to feed half of a 1/4 cup give him his insulin shot then feed the other half, this had to happen at 6am and 6pm exactly. The shot had to go into his opposite hip every time (left morning, right afternoon). I hope to offer your pet similarly the best care imaginable.

Animals are innocent creatures who deserve nothing but special and loving care. I am willing to abide by any requests or special rules for pets, including medicine requirements, care schedules, and eating schedules.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Dunns Rock
Absolutely fantastic experience! One of our cats ia very shy and anxious, and Bailey was fantastic with him. I've never seen him so comfortable with a stranger. Bailey gave our cats exceptional care, and went above and beyond to take care of their environment. We couldn't be happier, and would feel comfortable booking Bailey again without hesitation!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
