“Peter is great! This is the second time he’s doggie sat for us and he’s always so kind and sends pics of our pup along with updates. So happy to have found him and will use him again!”

About: I have grown up with dogs my entire life and have taken care of everything from great pyrenees to Shih Tzu’s and even sugar gliders. I love volunteering at the Birmingham Humane Society and I know how to take care of puppies and seniors, how to give medication, and how to do basic emergency care like the Heimlich. I am a college student and have a couple labs/classes but I am typically free all weekends and Tuesdays. I can also stay when I am not in class. Other than that I am free to take care of all animals and make sure they are not lonely while you are away! In my home I have two cats. I rescued one as a kitten and have another older cat that came to me with asthma. Because of this I know how to administer medicine. I also grew up with dogs in my house as their primary caregiver and frequently visited my grandmothers farm. I have experience pet sitting and love every animal.
About: I have been taking care of my friends and families animals since I was a child. I currently have a 7 year old male Shiba Inu that I’ve raised from 9 weeks old. He’s very friendly, and potty trained. He gets tons of love all the time, along with our male 5 year old Staffordshire Pitbull Terrier named Skipper. I will be more than happy to take care of and play with your animals/babies. I keep the dogs on a close leash to me when walking. I would prefer a harness if they are not leash trained, to avoid tugging or pulling. I always keep a couple plastic bags handy for picking up poop when needed. I graduated in 2022 with a bachelors degree in Biochemistry from the University of North Florida. I am currently a full time veterinary technician at Avondale Animal Hospital and I am more than happy to help out. I keep my dogs on a daily schedule so I understand the need for routine. Currently just moved to the area and learning my way around, I’d be happy to fit you in. I prefer visits at the client’s home to ensure safety of the pet and to make sure they are not stressed from a new place.
About: I have cared for a variety of animals and am comfortable caring for any pet (including exotic or uncommon), any age, any size, any level of care, and any personality! I have past experience caring for senior animals (including dogs, cats, and horses) as well as animals under age 1 (including dogs and cats). I often volunteer at the Birmingham Humane Society! Although I am not offering training services, I have experience training and am willing to uphold any training regimen. I have experience shadowing a household pet veterinarian as well as an equine veterinarian. I also have farm animal care experience. I love playtime and am very attentive! I am very excited to care for your pet! I am available for boarding weekends and weekdays after 7 pm. My apartment is the perfect environment for boarding! I am available for boarding some weekdays all day, but I will need notice 5 days and to coordinate in advance for boarding on a weekday before 7 pm due to shifting schedule days. I am available to sit weekends and after 7 pm on weekdays. Can do daytime feedings or walks 2 or 3 times a day. I’m currently working full-time at UAB Hospital (3 12 hr shifts/week). For boarding, I am in a one bedroom apartment with no other pets and decent play space. I have no toys, litter boxes, or cat trees so will need to provide their own. I live next to a large unfenced park. The apartment is clean and tidy and safe for pets. The apartment building also has a pet bathing station available if your pet needs cleaning. If you are concerned with a public bathing station, I am perfectly comfortable bathing your pet in the bath in my apartment. Please, let me know of any health or hygiene issues beforehand. Medications/allergies/health concerns are extremely important to me. For sitting, I will clean any pet messes if needed. Require a decently clean home and closer distance if overnight sitting is needed. Please, let me know of any concerns ahead of time. For walks, please let me know an estimated average walk time for your pet so that they are comfortable and happy!

“Lyndsey was fantastic! She stayed at our place for a week and took great care of our anxious Newfypoo and our rather skiddish Boxer. By the end of her week, both dogs were completely relaxed and at ease with her. With frequent updates along the way to assure us that all was well! We definitely hope to hire her again for our next trip away!”

“Loralyn is wonderful! Kept in touch and gave us updates on our girls. She was very considerate of our home and took great care of all of my little asks. We will definitely use Loralyn again!”

“Riley was great. My Bentley is young and in the middle of potty training. Riley continued to work with him during his stay and took the necessary time and patience needed. This took a lot of late nights and early mornings. I cant say enough how happy we were with the time he put in with Bentley. He left the house in pristine condition and followed up with a call to summarize the week. Riley is awesome and we will continue to use him in the future when available.”

“Jesilyn was amazing. She was quick to respond and let me know her availability. I requested for her two days out during the holiday weekend. She sent pictures of updates and my puppy was happy with her. Would definitely have her again 💛”

Whether it’s overnight house sitting, medication support, long walks, or simply being a comforting presence, I make sure each animal feels safe, understood, and genuinely cared for. I communicate clearly and consistently, keeping you updated so you can relax while you’re away. My approach is gentle, attentive, and tailored to each dog’s routine and emotional needs. I currently work part time and do online school part time. I am a hospitality coordinator at a business and then am working towards my ultrasound tech degree. I am gone for about 6 hours a day for work and then can spend the rest of the time at your house or dropping by to care for the dogs. I love movies and being a home body, so it is the perfect fit for me! I do not care for pets in my own home. I am available for overnight sitting in your home or drop in care. I care about safety and making sure it is secure and locked each time I leave. I wash the sheets if I stay overnight and make it seem like I was never there except for well-cared for pets.
“Megan did a great job watching our dog over the holidays. She was extremely responsive, provided several updates and was great with our dog. We plan to work with Megan again in the future and recommend her if you are in need of a dog sitter!”

“Alexis was great with my babies while I was gone! My dog does not take easily to new people, but she relaxed around Alexis pretty quickly in our pre-sitting meet up. I also didn't have to hunt down my cat like I usually do when sitters are over...which is a change. It's not them, but Xena doesn't like anyone...lol. She came in before I even had to look for her! Alexis is a good communicator and sent photos regularly to let me know how they were doing. I'll definitely hire her again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Dolomite
We have a 3 month old puppy and was in Birmingham, AL for our daughter’s wedding. We had multiple events and we chose Rhonda Lynn to care for Frank while we were in town. She was amazing!! We are empty nesters and Frank is very special to us. We were not sure that we would be able to enjoy all of the activities during the wedding weekend as we would be worried about Frank, but after seeing Rhonda Lynn and Frank together, we were at total ease and knew we could fully trust Rhonda Lynn with our baby, and she did just that, we were able to spend the quality time we needed during the events and got to watch our daughter get married with absolutely no worries. We thank you very much Rhonda Lynn!!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of October 2026, there are 532 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Dolomite. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Dolomite walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Dolomite maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Dolomite choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
