About: - Grew up in the country surrounded by dogs, cats, reptiles, chickens, and other farm animals my whole life. - I’ve house sitted for family friends dogs and plants - I highly prioritize communication and safety on both sides I’m very available at the moment as I just graduated. I am happy both to set up a reoccurring service or stay flexible from week to week over the summer. I can’t keep animals in my apartment, but I am physically and mentally capable of the challenges regarding pets like crates, leashes, exercise/play, differences in personalities, and minor discipline if wanted.

About: We've been taking care of dogs all our lives, they are family! We whelped 2 litters of puppies from my sweet golden retriever Daisy. We love playing and cuddling with dogs and long walks on our property! Let your dog get a vacation/retreat from city life and enjoy the fresh air on the mountain here! Someone is pretty much here all the time so your dogs get LOTS of attention & walks. If your dog would be more comfortable you can bring along something that smells like home. Also their leash, food, snacks are optional and anything else they prefer. We prefer to board dogs more than one night, that way there is less traffic on our road. Once you drive to the top of the mountain by our homes, please drive super slow to avoid dusting out the neighbors and them being happy, so we can keep boarding dogs! 🐕 thank you SO much! We are home full time so we are here to give your pets the full attention they need! We are excited to have your pet experience life on the mountain with fresh air and long walks! I have a fenced yard, a friendly golden retriever who loves having friends over, and country trails to take the dogs on long walks. Trust us to take care of your pets and allow them to have a retreat away from home.

Our Family had a fairly long trip and did not want to put our dogs in a different location. Looking on Rover we found Phillip who responded right away. Our trip was through Thanksgiving and that was not a problem for him. He came over to meet our two dogs and they took to him right away. Received updates from him even though for us maybe a little more communication would have been nice but the over-all experience was really good. When we returned back from our trip and he dropped off our house key the dogs were so very excited to see him. Normally when we are gone and come back our dogs tend to not be themselves for a while. We got right back into things with them like we never left. Thanks for taking such good care of our girls.

About: I’ve always loved animals of all sorts and have grown up taking care of my family’s pets and friend’s pets. I have 5+ years of experience working in the veterinary medicine field as an assistant and receptionist, continuing to gain knowledge and new skills. I have the knowledge to care for various types of pets, from dogs and cats to pocket pets to large animal. I’m proficient at handling various needs of your pets, such as medication administration and speciality care with different diets. I have experience caring for young and senior pets! I currently work full time at a local veterinary hospital but am flexible around my work day. I’m available for drop in visits and walks around my work day and overnight stays at your home. I stick to your pets routines as much as possible while caring for them in your home. Paying extra attention to them while we’re outside, such as checking the pavement if it’s too hot while on walks, or staying out with your pet while in your yard. Safety and the well being of your pet(s) is my priority.

About: * Lifelong animal lover with 8+ years of pet sitting experience for friends, family, and referrals. * Proud dog mom to Rocky, my 7-year-old Golden Retriever, who has been by my side since he was 9 weeks old. * Experience caring for puppies, senior dogs, cats, chickens, and even a bearded dragon. * I work remotely, which allows me to provide plenty of supervision, companionship, walks, playtime, and attention throughout the day. * I only accept pets that are comfortable around large dogs and have a friendly, reliable temperament. Rocky’s safety and well-being are my top priority. * My goal is to treat every pet like family and give owners peace of mind while they’re away I work remotely Monday through Friday, so my day naturally revolves around making sure the pets in my care—including my own—get plenty of attention, companionship, potty breaks, exercise, and outdoor time. My routine typically includes walks before work, during lunch, and in the evening, with longer trail walks or adventures mixed in throughout the week. Because every pet is different, I tailor activities to their age, energy level, and individual needs. One of my favorite things about dogs is that they remind us to step away from our screens and enjoy the outdoors. Whether your pet loves adventure or prefers a more relaxed routine, they’ll receive plenty of care, attention, and love while they’re with me. Trust is everything when it comes to caring for someone’s pets. I’ve been with the same company for 9 years, and I bring that same reliability, integrity, and accountability to every pet I care for. As a Project Manager, I’m highly detail-oriented and comfortable following specific routines, medications, and care instructions. I know every pet is different, and I take the time to learn what helps them feel safe, comfortable, and happy. I genuinely love animals and don’t just “watch” pets—I enjoy spending time with them, keeping them engaged, active, and loved while you’re away. I mostly have dog sat at people’s homes. I do have a dog friendly apartment and would be open to select sittings in my home but it’s not fenced so there is less freedom that one would have in their own home.

We love when Anna Lee stays with our pups! She is so attentive to their habits and needs, and they have clearly claimed her as part of their pack! She takes excellent care of our home, leaving it as good (if not better) than when we left. It's such a gift to be able to get away and not worry about our "krds" or home!

Gabby & Kade were excellent house and dog sitters. They’re communicative and kind. What I appreciated the most was the meet and greet before hand taking the time to really know the dogs and discuss expectations. They kept me up to date daily with three daily updates and left the house and my dogs in great condition. I would recommend them to others looking for a weekend or long term house sitter.

Genevieve is terrific! I have two senior pups who require a lot of attention and medication- being that she's a vet tech and has volumes of experience with senior and special needs pets, I felt super confident that they were in the best hands. I also didn't have to explain much- she got the drill immediately. Genevieve is positive, warm, bubbly and outgoing and she's just a gem to communicate with. You'll love her!

About: I worked in dog grooming for a decade, and I do miss the dogs, often. I will be happy to help regardless of breed or size. I have open availability in my schedule. I work with many different service partners, and can easily adjust my schedule, with proper notice, of course. Dogs will be played with, of course! I will run them, depending on age and whether they like that. Feed them, walk them. Cats will get nozzles and pets

Brittany was amazing! Not only did she take great care of Oliver, she sent me tons of photos and alerted me to anything that was even slightly out of the ordinary. When I got home my house was spick and span. The litter box had been cleaned and she even vacuumed a bit! 11/10 would recommend!

FAQs for House Sitting - Darknell

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 730 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Darknell. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Darknell walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Darknell maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Darknell choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Darknell. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
