“Kathy is great! She takes very good care of our cats. She sends pictures and updates so we know how they are doing. It is nice to know they are well taken care of when we are out of town.”
“This was our first time booking with Rover in our new neighborhood/ home and we could not have asked for a better experience. Lesly was prompt and sometimes even early for each visit. The dogs absolutely loved her and didn’t want her to leave. She did an amazing job following instructions for medications, feeding schedules etc.. We will definitely be rebooking with Lesly each and every time.”

“Jan is amazing with my dogs! She does drop in visits midday and knowing she is with my dogs gives me piece of mind. I have a puppy and a senior dog who I know both live visits and cuddles from Jan. I can’t recommend her more!”

“Cierra was amazing ! She took care of our two dogs while we were out and we absolutely loved her. She made sure our dogs were fully taken care of and given love while we were out. We have a goldendoodle that’s usually skittish around new people but he immediately made a new best friend with Cierra. Definitely will use her for any future doggy sitting needs.”

About: I’ve been around and taken care of pretty much any animal under the sun for all my life. I’ve had many people entrust me to care for their furry (or scaly!) babies while they were away, and I’ve loved every experience. i’m currently a college student, so I usually have time during the day to check in on your pets when I don’t have classes! Let me know how many times a day you’d like me to come see your pets and I will do my best to make it happen! I will make sure your pets get plenty of play time to get their energy out! I also know anxiety can be high among animals when their owners are gone, so I’ll be sure to shower them with affection too.

“Shannon was absolutely amazing! She took such great care of Benji over the two days she watched him. From the very beginning, she was warm, communicative, and super attentive. I received regular updates with pictures and videos, and it brought me so much peace of mind knowing Benji was in such good hands. She walked him, fed him! You can tell she genuinely loves animals and enjoys what she does. Benji looked so happy and comfortable with her, and I could tell he had a great time. I’ll definitely be booking her again in the future, thank you so much, Shannon!”

About: I've taken care of many cats and dogs from my own, family and friends', fosters, animal shelters... the list goes on. I love animals. I have an apple head chihuahua (7 years old) and 2 GSD-Malinois puppies that are 5 months old. I'm the sitter that sends consistent pictures, updates, and pays 24/7 attention to your babies. I want to be the person that puts you at ease, as I know how it feels to be worried about leaving your babies. Hoping to find furry friends for my puppies too! EVERY. DAY. My older chihuahua is very low maintenance, but my GSD-Malinois puppies are extremely needy. We're very active, outside every 2 hours at least, tennis balls, tug-o-war, treat training, dog walks, and hug and kisses time. Depends on the age, but, first and foremost, is check the floor and keep my belongings out of reach. Give the pets space and time to adjust, offer some treats, and follow your pet's lead- both in my home or yours. Everything revolves around the baby.
About: We take pride in creating a stable & structured environment for your pet. The guidelines that you already have in place, we will follow to the T & if you have any concerns or need help I love to teach anything I know on how to make you and your pets life easier. I have worked with/trained dogs for the last 10 years. We enjoy getting to know every single one of them & helping them grow, while easing your mind while on a trip! You’re getting double the care for the process of one! I am a full time esthetician student & work on the weekends. My wife and I work together to make sure your pet is taken care of to the same standard as if you were at home! You get two professionals for the price of one & the love and care to go with it! I will care for your pet based on whatever guidelines you have for me. I’m a very patient and calm person who understands that every single pet is different.
“Darleen has taken care of our kitties on several occasions. She is always willing to accommodate our times of needing her to include spur of the moment drop ins. She has had to trouble shoot our auto feeders and the litter robot and made sure they were back on line. Our kitties love her and she always plays with them and gives them attention.”

“Brooke is going to be a perfect sitter for Stella! Brooke obviously loves dogs (and all animals) and was quick to tune in to our expectations for Stella's care. I will feel so much better when I have to be away from home knowing that Brooke is taking care of our baby.”

About: Pet care is my specialty, from bathing, administering medication, nail trims, playtime, cleaning up and keeping your pets company. I will love your baby just as my own! 😊 I am currently not working so I have all the time in the world to drop in or walk your babies throughout the day and love on them as my own! If I were to come to your house, I would ensure that I clean up any waste from the dog outside, make sure any outside doors are closed to prevent them from escaping, keep their water bowl filled, and feed as necessary.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
