“Ruth knows how to take care of shy dogs like my furry baby. I appreciate her gentle, confident approach to him. It’s hard to find someone who can be dependable and responsible nowadays. I’m so grateful that I found Ruth.”

“Lia showed up on time and accommodated my cats needs. She sent pictures and communicated very well. I had peace of mind on my trip knowing Alia was taking care of my pet. 10/10 would have her back to take care of him.”

“Al is the best! We were so happy with how he took care of our shy cat, Yuri. He kept us informed and was especially helpful when our AC went out. We literally had no worries about Yuri while we are out of town! We will definitely be using him in the future!”

About: I grew up caring for many kinds of animals and have always been a lover of nature and wildlife. With our family pets, we often fostered cats and dogs, as well as newborn kittens and puppies. I volunteered for the Animal Welfare League in Port Charlotte, FL, caring for cats and dogs of many varieties for several years. I currently have 4 cats of my own, all rescues which I love dearly! It would be an honor for you to trust me with the care of your pet, and I guarantee that I will love and care for them as if they were my own. I have experience with providing cats with basic, routine medical treatments such as pills, topicals, and liquid medications. Communication is important to me, and I will gladly provide you with any updates or answer any questions you may have while I'm looking after your home or pet. I'm currently seeking more self-employment opportunities, so my availability for daily or weekly sitting services is completely open! If you're looking for regular walks/visits, we can work together to schedule according to your pet's needs. You can rely on me to treat your home and pets with integrity and respect. Ensuring the comfort and safety of your animals is my top priority! I will listen to your unique needs and concerns, and provide attentive care.

About: I picked up bride and grooms dogs from their homes and brought them to their weddings to get in the photos and ceremony while making sure the dog was taken care of and under control then brought back home. I work a rotating schedule so every week I have different availability, but I always have mornings off so I can cover any morning any time. Flexible and communicative. I am always careful of the food my pets consume and making sure they are fed on a schedule while also never too lonely or without playing for too long.
About: I’ve had a dog since I was a little kid. I also have watched dogs for my friends. My two oldest daughters head off to college this August. My youngest daughter, she will be 12 in September, loves all animals, but especially dogs. I am looking for a way to have more dogs in our house for my daughter to play with. We have one dog, Marley. However, my mom lives next door and she has two dogs, Daisy and Zoe. They visit often. But when we are watching other dogs, they will not visit. Our goal is to provide a fun, safe environment for your pup while you are away. I am able to watch your fury family member any weekend during the school year or June/July over the summer. I am not available: July 6-9 After July 30, I am back at school. I am available to watch your fury family member Friday (after 3:30) until Sunday evening (anytime.) I have a pool for them to swim in and and fully fenced in area around my house. I have about 40 acres we can take leashed walks on if you would like. We do have a few cows and a horse on the extended acreage. My lab/beagle mix loves to play with dogs. She plays well with both small and large dogs.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Crystal Lake
My husband and I operated a dog training business for many years and during that time we really never ever travelled. With my husband now retired the opportunity to travel has come up but finding a good sitter who could handle not only our Pembroke Welsh Corgi but our senior and very grouchy Mini Schnauzer felt like was going to be impossible…till we met Kylee. She showed up on time, confident, calm, understanding and put my mind at ease. During my time away Kylee kept me informed the whole time with pictures and updates on every visit. This might sound small but for someone who felt she could never travel, this was a God send. I have found an amazing dog sitter in Kylee and look forward to having her watch our babies anytime we travel. P.s . My senior grouchy schnauzer absolutely loved Kylee! This is big! And of course all of our other fur babies too. Thank you Kylee!!

Ruth did a wonderful job caring for our two ragdoll cats. She fed them, played with them, gave them treats and made sure their litter was clean and their water fountain was filled. We could tell from the pictures she sent that the boys were happy and glad to see her.

Super grateful for Amber and the great job she does when dropping in on my fur babies. She’s thorough in making sure they get the care they need and will often go above & beyond. For instance, I have a diabetic senior pug Violet, who is also blind, and Amber is very accommodating in assisting her with getting around the house, and administering her medicines as needed.

We absolutely LOVE Christiana! She is reliable, trustworthy, and takes such amazing care of Yoda. It gives us so much peace of mind knowing he is with someone who genuinely cares about him and treats him like her own. She always goes above and beyond, communicates with us, and we never have to worry when he’s in her care. Finding someone you completely trust with your pet is such a big deal, and we feel so lucky to have found her. We truly couldn’t recommend her enough! 🐾❤️

I cannot recommend Ashlei highly enough! She did drop-in visits for my two cats over a long weekend, and she provided amazing care. Both of my cats have medical needs (one needs eye drops and the other needed pills mixed into her food) and Ashlei handled their regimens perfectly, including navigating our sneaky, picky eaters! Her daily reports were detailed and reassuring, and I looked forward to reading them knowing that my kitties were in her capable hands. Ashlei is professional, highly attentive to instructions, and clearly loves cats! She gave us the priceless gift of total peace of mind while we were away, and we will absolutely be booking with her again!

Liza did an absolutely fantastic job looking after our kitty cats while we were away! She is a great communicator, very responsible, let you know everything is going on and when she’s planning to go by, and was very loving to our felines! Even sent lots of pictures so we didn’t miss them too much! Will DEFINITELY look to work with her again! Thanks Liza!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
